february 20, 2025 The Hebrides Islands weren't the first place Cecelia would have chosen for a nighttime excursion, but finding any place in the British Isles with clear enough skies and little enough light pollution to view the stars she wanted to see was proving difficult. The Hebrides were blustery and cold in mid-March, and even Cecelia's thick cloaks didn't seem to keep out all of the chill. Still, the view of the sky was amazing, and Cece had settled on a rocky outcropping on a seemingly-deserted island so she could begin her observations for the night. Her star chart was spread across her knees and her hands and mind were both distracted as she plotted the stars, but her wand was within easy reach. She was fairly certain she wasn't on an island that belonged to the MacFusty Reserve, but she'd imagine it wouldn't be well received for an outsider to Apparate in unannounced, so the wand was there in case she faced any trouble.
Finally being able to study the stars again was a relief after her time in France. She had been able to take some measurements and calculations, which she was planning to use in an article on the movement of Venus for an astronomy journal, but she was going to get much better data now that she had time for regular observations. It was meditative, and for the first time in what felt like a long time, Cece was able to let her guard down.
