vaguely Spring 2025
The weeks had past kind of quickly since Sav and Kat had displayed their partner project for Dueling. They had done decently well. It was one of the only subjects that Sav did well in without having to work hard or bribe someone for ‘help’ to pass. His burns had also healed well since their little incident during one of their training sessions before the actual duel. It had only taken a few days for him to stop feeling them, and the scaring had taken a little longer to heal, but it didn’t bother him at all. He thought it was cool, actually. He didn’t really have any real battle scars. Which was kind of surprising since he had fought actual dragons. And had been hit with several bludgers. Not to mention he’d taken his share of hits from other players.
Regardless of their project being over, Sav still plopped himself down in the open seat next to her when he came into class that day. He had been doing so periodically since the project. In a variety of classes at that. Just because he found it kind of funny. And he didn’t hate her company. “How are you doing today?” he asked her, giving a playful wiggle of his eyebrow as he did.

Katherine glanced over at Savtaj as he sat beside her, shifting a little in her seat so that she was sitting up straighter. She didn’t know what to make of the guy. He was an amazing duelist, that was obvious. Quidditch too, which was irritating. She never understood why people loved sports. Sure, there was a good deal of science and mathematics involved, but did the players think about it that way? Probably not.
Every time he sat next to her (which seemed to get a little more often as time went on) she found herself incredibly aware of how his scars were looking. They were pretty much gone now, which was both nice and oddly a little sad. It was a strange thing that connected them. She didn’t really need human connection that but didn’t mean it wasn’t a little… nice.
He wiggled his eyebrows and she raised one of her own slowly. This was him, most of the time as far as she had seen. ”Good. I think your eyebrows may be stuck to a few fish hooks,” she said flatly. But she smiled.

Sav squinted his eyes at her when she said that it looked like this eyebrows were caught on fish hooks. “Ouch.” he said as if taking a hit to his ego. “Do you understand the pain that your words cause?” he knew he was being dramatic. It was all on purpose. What fun would it be to go easy on her, or anyone else for that matter? Sav was all about fun and having a good time. He wouldn’t say that he had grown particularly close to Katherine, but he did like spending time around her. He always got the feeling from her that she needed to relax and he was starting to take it as a personal mission to teach her how to have fun and not be so uptight. Which, he didn’t always mind anyway.

He said that her words hurt, and she rolled her eyes. She lifted her hand and traced her pointer finger along his left eyebrow. "I can almost see the scar where the fish hook sunk in. It's a shame, you'll probably never heal from that," she pulled her hand back quickly, attempting to ignore the slight pang in her stomach. She felt a little... Sad. Sad that she used to be much better at flirting and getting boys to do her bidding but since she had Lance she had lost her desire for flings and meaningless hookups. She didn't know what to expect from her new budding 'friendship' with Sav... But she knew she liked him sitting bead her in class. She thought about saying that out loud, turning back toward him an opening her mouth before closing it again.

Katherine teased him again, saying she could almost see the scar in his eyebrow and she said it was a shame that he would never heal from it. He smirked. “Hey, scars are hot. I’ll take what I can get.” he shrugged with a smirk. He wondered if she ever thought about the scars he had from the burns. They were all mostly gone by now, what a shame that was. He kind of wanted them to stay, he really thought that they made him look tougher. He had escaped the dragon attack without any scars despite how daring he had been. He could have always said they were from that.

He said scared were hot and she couldn't help the smile that immediately broke out on her face. "Okay, okay. You make a fair point, Sav," she agreed. Her eyes flickered to his burn scars again at the mention of it all, and then back to his face. "How are you-" she started, but then Professor Dent began to speak and she faced forward while the lecture started. Throughout class she kept finding herself glancing over at him, at one point Dent was talking about fiend-fyre and she followed her impulse to turn to Sav with a kind of goofy, fake apology face.

Katherine said that she saw his point and then was starting to ask, Sav could only imagine how he was, or how his scars were healing, when the professor began the lesson. And being the good student that Katherine was, she started paying attention. He attempted to, at least for the most part. He couldn’t say that he didn’t tune out part way through and start imagining Quidditch plays in his head, but he usually was able to find his way back to the present moment and to the lecture. When the professor began to discuss Fiend-fyre, his mind snapped back to the present and he saw Katherine turn towards him out of the corner of his eye. He looked over as well just in time to see her little face and he gave a breathy laugh that would be inaudible to the teacher in the front. “You’re good at that one.” he whispered with a quick wink.

Honestly, the rest of the school year was a blur of Sav. At some point they were kissing and more and more until she wasn't sure where it even started. She still constantly apologized for the burning, until eventually it just became and inside joke. She forgot about all the other stresses and worries, other than schoolwork - of course. He was charming, funny, but easy to pick a fight with. All in all, it was a good year.
