Mavis gets along with just about everyone, she cares about people, and loves to help giving advice to those who ask for it. While she is good with people, she still considers herself to be an introvert. She would much prefer to be on her own or with a small group of friends.
She isn’t good at asking for help. She rarely had to do it when she was younger, and now that she is on her own, she’s too stubborn to do so. She especially won't tell strangers about her struggles. Also, if she can avoid telling people her last name, it’s preferred. Many people in higher circles would know her father. While she isn’t one to ask for help, she would definitely take it when offered. She does have a number of close friends that she has asked if she could crash on their couch when needed, or rather, when there isn’t a safe spot to squat. As a part veela, she knows that it’s more dangerous to stay out on the streets in certain areas, at certain times. While there are times that she hates her veela charm, she does know how to use it when she needs to.
Mavis is a hard worker, though her family sees it as rebellious. She knows what she wants and is willing to do just about anything to reach her goal. She is a smart girl and has learned a lot over the past few years of not having a place to call home. She is also a good student, working hard at whatever class she is or has been in. When she gets nervous, she twirls her hair. And while she has little to nothing, she still tries to give back when she can. She is prone to regular headaches and migraines, but she still does her best to do all that she need and wants to do.

As a young man, Mavis’ father was a career driven man. He married his first wife young, around age 25. After having their first child, the two found themselves drifting in different directions. The marriage ended and they shared the child. He climbed his way up to his goal career. Just as he made it, Magical Ambassador, he married his second wife at age 32, they both agreed that his career was important, and as his oldest child grew, he pushed the idea of a “respectable career.” His second wife gave him two children before her passing. As they grew, he did the same thing, pushing them to find well paying, respectable. For a time, her father was a willower, raising his children with the help of his staff. When he was 53, he met his final wife, the young and beautiful Veela who soon mothered two children of her own.
Mavis was born the youngest and last. Of the children. Her father was in the height of his career, and she quickly learned how to bow, curtsey, and what to do when. As she grew, she was a little vision of perfect manners, because it made her family happy. As a young child, all she wanted was to hear her parents praise. In her spare time, she was taught to read, and to study languages and the arts. They tried different things, but she really took to drawing and painting. As time passed, Mavis found that all she wanted to do was create art.She knew that was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. But was told many times that it was a frivolous career. When it was time for her to get ready to go to school, she, like her older siblings before, were invited to go to either Beauxbatons or Hogwarts. It was her father’s wishes that she attend his old school, Hogwarts, where she was sorted into the Hufflepuff house.
Before school, she was given an allowance to get her school supplies. With a bodyguard on her shadow, she wandered around the magical shopping area and collected her. She quickly learned that some items on her list were optional, and others had high prices, and low prices. That was when the idea hit her. She could spend the minimum amount, but say that she spent all of it. Then hord whatever she had left for later. She used some of the money to buy art stuff, but saved most of it.
Her first year at school was fun. She made many friends. But that was around when things started to change. She started to see things differently. This caused headaches, migraines, even passing out, and starting to have seizures. She finished out the year, but after that she was homeschooled. She still wanted to do her school shopping, getting and saving her allowance.
Things started to improve, and she convinced her parents to let her go to school again. This time, She went to Beauxbatons. Again, she made many friends. And was able to explore more of the arts than she was at home. That was also where she met her boyfriend. Mavis liked going to school, and was able to find her freedom there.
Returning home after graduating from Beauxbatons, Mavix needed to make a career choice. She told her parents that she wanted to be an artist. That was the wrong answer. She was given a day to correct her decision, but she was resolute. With that, her father gathered all her art supplies and set everything ablaze. With the fire glistening in her eyes, Mavis couldn’t take it anymore. She ran to her room, stoved some street cloths, toiletries, an extra pair of shoes, and a hidden box of metal coins that she had been hoarding all into a duffle bag and a backpack. She was out of the ambassador's house and quickly vanished from the family’s life.
After leaving her family, she moved in with her boyfriend, and went immediately to WADA, the Wizarding Academy of the Dramatic Arts, and became an art student. She gave them everything she had. She had pinched and saved everything she could, and had enough for four years of schooling. She paid for everything then and now, having no idea what was going to come of the money if she kept it. Her boyfriend, supportive as he was, helped purchase some new clothes for her, along with some art supplies. But a few months before she started school up again, her boyfriend was taken by Aurors, and quickly committed to Azkaban.
She was out of a home, and didn’t have a knut to her name. So, she packed up her belongings and was off on her own. From then on, she was left to couch surfing, occasionally squatting, and making what little money she could on the streets by doing art for people. She took up charictachurs for the most part, people liked the souvenir. She even laid out some of her own work that she had made, trying to sell it too.
During the summer after her first year at WADA, her brother found her. He tried to talk her into coming back with him. She could very well have a better life if she just came back, and started a career that their father had already set up for her. He was, no doubt, sent by her father to bring her back. Well, he would just have to be disappointed. She refused, and quickly left that area, being careful not to be found again. She knew that it would happen again, but she knew she had to be strong. This was her life now, and in all honesty, she was happier being dirt poor and creating for money than she ever was at an extravagant diplomat party.
site events reaction:
While there are some exciting and dangerous things happening around, Mavis finds that she is much too concerned about dodging her family, school work, and making a decent buck so that she can eat.
Older than some, and younger than others
