▲ July 24, 2024 It took two years too long to save the money to move to London. Dahlia had half expected when she graduated to hop on a plane and immediately jettison over to the island nation. Unfortunately is far more difficult than that, and she had other steps that needed to be taken first before being allowed to simply immigrate to a new country. Most of it had to do with being a werewolf, and under constant supervision, but the Ministry of Magic wanted to know why she was so keen on being a Cursebreaker for the British branch of Gringotts versus any other one. She couldn’t very well tell them that it was because she wanted to find her half-siblings, though at the same time she was positive they knew her true intentions. These were trained professionals, and they probably saw every excuse known to man. Gringotts in Diagon Alley was supposedly the highest tier bank around though, so she technically wasn’t lying to them. It held the most qualified and successful Cursebreakers around, and had a good track record of keeping them alive a lot longer too. Apparently another worry was letting someone as young and volatile as her run amok with potentially priceless cursed magical items. It wasn’t like she was going to go find daddy Fenrir the second she managed to get her paws on something valuable. Finally though, after two years, she was allowed to move to England and start her career as a Cursebreaker. The paperwork, amongst a million life insurance and policy forms, indicated that the training would consist of another two years and a litany of testing to make sure that she would be prepared for doing the job. The goblins were fairly strict, it seemed. She was already a couple years behind from other peers her age, but that was fine. Getting here was half the battle anyways, and now that part of it was done with. Signing away her life a few more times, she was then handed a card with the name of the Cursebreaker that was going to be showing her the ropes and giving her an idea of exactly what she had just committed herself to. Apparently this was some sort of post signing interview where her new handler would tell her what to expect the first few months. And she was to do it right now, at a room down the hall. Or so said the gravelly voiced goblin that had handed her the business card. Stepping away from the front desk and starting to walk towards the door that the goblin had pointed at with his pointy, elongated finger, Dahlia flipped the card over to see the name written on it. Rhys Greyback. She almost dropped it, her hands starting to shake uncontrollably, a cold sweat breaking out across her forehead. This had to be a sick joke right? There was no way the goblin handing her the paperwork could have known who her father was. She had filled out a false name, the same one her mother had done on her Beauxbatons registration years ago, and listed both him and her mother as deceased. At the same time, she had come here to find her rumored siblings. The fact that it was about to be this easy was absolutely insane. Taking a couple deep breaths to try and compose herself, Dahlia shoved the card in her pocket and found the room that she was supposed to report to. Knocking on it, she stood still for a solid five seconds to breathe again, and then stepped inside. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new Rhys ran his hand over his face and rubbed his eyes, he was tired. It had been a little over two months since he’d gotten that letter about his brother and this had been the first time he’d stopped working since then. The bank had pulled him back from where he’d been in Mexico to pick up a new trainee despite his protests. It was never his favorite part of the job but considering the job you might see that his number of years made him a more “senior” Curse Breaker and expected to train the new ones. Still, he’d come back but despite being in London he actually wasn’t planning on seeing his sisters. It was hard not to, especially in this aftermath but he wasn’t ready to face it yet. He sat slightly slouched in his chair, one elbow on the table in front of him as his hand held his head up and the other hand flipped through a file that had been handed to him. ’Dahlia.’ Was this one’s name but unlike the other trainees she was older. It wasn’t uncommon to have trainees from other schools, but it was uncommon to have them this age. Curious, but not a deal breaker. Her file showed she had the required academic marks, but that mattered little to him and talking to them always got a better sense of how they handled themselves and then the field training would be the ultimate test. Another reason he disliked this part of the job was that he was forced to be rather nice and friendly, maybe even smile and not scare away the trainees before their boots even touched the ground. Though any current trainee would tell you that Rhys was the opposite of warm and understanding at times when it came to his work. Still, when he heard a knock he sat up in his chair and cleared his throat, ”Come in.” He spoke loudly and the door clicked open. Rhys recognized her from the picture in the file, though she seemed apprehensive—again not a bad sign. He hadn’t bothered to close the file since he was still going to be referencing it while they spoke. Rhys stood, mostly out of habit and gestured to the empty chair in front of him at the other side of the table. ”Have a seat.” And he returned to his own sitting position. She still had the card in her hand, as if his name was hard to forget. ”My name is Rhys, I’ll be the one conducting the majority of your training.” He began, like a scripted introduction but he tried to be friendly about it. ”First few jobs will be pretty simple so I can show you what to expect in terms of finding ruins and some best practices.” He looked back down on the file, his main concern was that she’d been out of school for some time so he was curious where her knowledge of basic ruins stood. But he didn’t raise the concern just yet, how many fresh graduates had he seen who’d gotten the highest NEWT scores in Ancient Runes that only seemed to bungle it when they were in the field. ”Before I start going over anything, do you have any questions for me?” He asked, looking up from the file and directly at her as his eyes met her blue ones. He tried his best to keep his expression neutral but at least a bit friendly.

▲ Dahlia wasn’t sure what to expect Rhys Greyback to look like, but it certainly wasn’t what he ended up being. Everything was contrary to their shared father, from what she remembered, except for one thing: his eyes. Her own were the same icy blue that Fenrir sported, something she unfortunately witnessed in person a few years prior. It seemed like this half-brother was lucky enough to sport the same set, and she had trouble with tearing her gaze away from them. The combined nerves and sudden need to run away had her stony-faced and a lot more serious looking than she wanted to be right now. This was supposed to be an interview type setting, where she needed to be ‘herself’. But that was seemingly impossible with what had decided to present itself. She followed his instructions from the doorway, taking a seat and stuffing the business card into her pocket as she did so. Having evidence of this Greyback was good enough for her. That meant the rumors were true, and she wasn’t actually chasing after ghosts. Her thoughts were caught up in what all of this meant, only catching snippets as Rhys introduced himself to her and the general scheme of things for the beginning of her training. Most of what he had to say sounded like it was coming out of a training manual or brochure. She already knew what Curse Breaking entailed, and the sort of thing to expect the second she was on a job. Those two years of raising funds to move to England had been spent reading, after all. Beauxbatons had done a decent enough job at teaching her Ancient Runes, but she needed more than just the basics. Researching accounts and following new discoveries of magical crypts helped as well. In her opinion, she was fully prepared for whatever was thrown at her, despite being late to the game. As he finished giving his spiel, he then asked if she had any questions. That perked up her ears, and she narrowed her eyes at him. Giving him another discerning glare as she tried to match the facial features to what she remembered five years earlier. “You have his eyes. Did you know that?” she stated, rather cryptically without any context for how she knew that. There really wasn’t a reason to beat around the bush at this point. He was going to have to know eventually. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new She hadn’t said anything since she came in and that was a bit odd to Rhys, normally there were questions that interrupted what he was saying Though, occasionally a quiet one came through like this. He’d been much the same as he just listened to his trainer give his bit and then he asked questions after but really he’d still been moping that he he’d been denied the chance to be an Auror. Though she was looking at him with an interesting level of intensity, but many years of people gawking at Fenrir’s son had him immune to the effect, but he was still quite aware. Even now he still got the occasional stare or curious person but typically his expression when he looked back discouraged questions. It wasn’t until he asked if she had any questions for him before he began talking about more pertinent things did, he feel her attention come back to the present. For someone that had waited two years for this job she didn’t seem that particularly interested which only annoyed him further. His threshold was low lately. Rhys matched her stare, but her gaze wasn’t a challenging one—he couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was. But he blinked after she spoke, his brow furrowing. His eyes. ’You have his eyes.’ She had said, and Rhys swallowed, he had blue eyes unlike the rest of his siblings. Jamie, Adrian and Max all had brown eyes while he’d inherited their father’s blue. The same eyes he saw in the mirror and the same eyes he saw in his recurring nightmares. Rhys gave her a suspicious look, ”Who’s eyes?” He could have asked who she was and what she was doing here but the way she had asked the question told him to tread lightly. Rhys had never been a man of many words and he wasn’t going to start now. Plus, perhaps she was just curious and then they could get back to business, the sooner they did that the soon they could leave London and get back to work. But he didn’t look away, but now that he was focused on her and not the file in front of him, he noted her own blue eyes. But, as he himself knew, many individuals had blue eyes. It wasn’t necessarily indicative of anything.

▲ If there was ever a stupid question, it was the one that came out of Rhys Greyback’s mouth. He absolutely knew what she was talking about, because why else would she have pointed that out in the first place? His name was on the card that the goblin gave her, he had to know that much. It wasn’t like he was trying to hide who he was. Anyone worth their weight in gold knew what Greyback meant. Which was specifically why she didn’t adopt that surname when given the chance. Her last name was more covert, and could get her through the non-magique community back home without a second glance. How did one explain to a non-magique what Greyback meant, and where it came from? In this world, it had actual power to it, though not the kind that actually put her or her half-siblings anywhere important. All it meant was that they had a father that could come calling at any moment. The fear of imminent doom had scared quite a few away from her over the years. “Fenrir’s,” she said effortlessly, though it was the first time she had ever spoken it out loud to anyone other than herself. Her father was Greyback. The one that was always uttered in hushed whispers behind hands by cranky Quidditch mums, or disgruntled government employees. She even called him that. But not today. Today he was Fenrir, because she was more interested in learning about that than her new job. Figuring out the ropes could happen any old day of the week. Right now she had a real Greyback sitting in front of her, with a look on his face that told her he knew exactly what she was getting at. “I have them too,” Dahlia admitted. She crossed one leg over the other and leaned back in her chair. This conversation was supposed to happen with Elias Greyback, her supposed half-brother that had participated in the Triwizard Tournament. But he was dead now, and she had figured she was out of luck for a while. Elias had practically fallen into her lap even though he never knew of her existence. It made sense if more of her kin were willing to make themselves known now that one had gone public. “I really am here for the Curse Breaker training,” she added, “But I figured it would be best if I was transparent about who I was from the beginning.” And trying to contain all of that knowledge when he was sitting right in front of her and would apparently be training her seemed wrong. She liked a good lie, but this wasn’t the time for that. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new She certainly hadn’t stuttered, and she confirmed his initial thought. Fenrir Greyback’s eyes. This was probably the first time someone had brought it up as a topic of conversation, however. She also spoke his name in such a tone that also told him she didn’t fear their father, though none of his offspring that he’d met so far seemed to. Perhaps having that monster’s blood run through their veins prevented it. Rhys always feared turning into Fenrir but not the man—or beast, himself. She didn’t use the last name, much as his brother opted not to either. Rhys personally disagreed with that philosophy, how were they supposed to take back the name and change what it meant in the wizarding world if they didn’t actively use it. Rhys looked at her eyes again, she indeed did have the uncanny shade of blue that he himself saw in his own reflection. Fenrir Greyback’s eyes. Though he couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry that she had to see what he saw, or perhaps she had her own traumatic memory tied to them. ”Indeed you do.” He confirmed, though they could both see the clear resemblance. ”You and I are the only ones…so far.” Rhys had never entertained the idea that he, Jamie, Adrian, Max and Elias had been the only offspring of Fenrir. Considering his habits in what lead to their eventual conceptions there were probably more whether they were aware of it or not though where seemed to vary. As far as they all knew Rhys was the eldest until another spoke up. He crossed his arms and his head tilted to the side as he mentally processed what had just occurred in the last thirty seconds or so. Another Greyback, another sibling, another sister. It was in his nature to be guarded. He’d just met her after all, but it conflicted with his natural internal desire for family— his family. His other siblings would surely be elated once they found out, so he relaxed and uncrossed his arms for now. ”But not transparent enough to use his name?” He asked curiously, it seemed they all had a specific reason why they did or didn’t have his surname. Rhys knew it made him a target and had ever since he was a boy, but there was a purpose to all that suffering. If their eyes weren’t uncanny enough, the odds that he was here was, The Curse Breaker that had been assigned originally to her trainee file had gotten caught up in Eastern Europe and Rhys had been pulled instead. ”So, I’ll ask again. Do you have any questions for me?” Rhys figured he’d let her speak, it would help him get a sense of this new sibling.

▲ The only ones? So was it really just the two of them then? She supposed it would have been three, but that had changed a few months ago. Then it really was a stroke of luck to bump into him like this. Her shoulders drooped a bit at the realization that there wasn’t some huge family awaiting her. The rumors always made it out to seem like there were more. At the same time, those sorts of things got conflated a lot when werewolves were involved. The stories of werewolves at Hogwarts could have meant other, non-Greyback related ones. Beauxbatons was behind in the times, apparently. How very French of them. And while Durmstrang seemed like it would have been the strictest of the sibling schools to her, supposedly it wasn’t if their champion for the tournament was one. Elias must have been of exceptional talent and character. It was too bad that she hadn’t managed to meet him. “I have no intentions of meeting him again on his volition,” Dahlia explained. She thought her reasoning was sound, and her newer surname got the point across back home well enough. Having an Englishman, who was willing to wear the name of their father around proudly, question her choice of name was silly. “I think using Greyback gives him power over me. He’s already left me with enough of that.” The scars from the claw puncture marks still stuck out on her upper arm, matching perfectly with the outline of a bite mark on her shoulder. Calling it a dog attack was her best excuse, but even a dog could restrain themselves after a certain point. When it came to any other question she may have for him, Dahlia pondered for a moment. Did he want her to ask personal questions, or about work? “This won’t be a conflict of interest, will it?” she decided on. It certainly seemed like it could be, if the goblins found out. While she had zero attachment to Rhys Greyback yet, aside from sharing a father, she still wanted to know more. Being paired together for her training seemed like the best way to get what she wanted, but it also meant having to add the extra weight of tomb diving with a family member. That sort of thing had to disturb the natural balance of work, right? “Also, I would like to go to Egypt if possible. I haven’t been in years.” Not since her mother had died. She wasn’t keen on navigating the streets of Cairo on her own, having only ever been there as a guest, and her Arabic was a tad rusty too. But if it was for work, that was a completely different situation. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new ”The rest have brown eyes. Gives them one less thing in common with him.” Rhys spoke casually. As far as he was concerned, they had lucked out, though in general it didn’t seem that any of them looked particularly alike but then it just mean they all looked more like their mothers which was probably best in this case. Until Rhys had met Jamie, he’d never thought that he had siblings and figured that anyone that wanted to be with Fenrir would be in his pack and likely just as savage as he was. She had her reasons for not wearing the Greyback name, for Rhys had never been a source of pride as he could have easily used his mother’s name instead, but he had set out to prove a point and it was still one of is primary goals in life that he wasn’t going to be swayed from. Naturally, he didn’t agree with it but it wasn’t up to him to convince her one way or another. As it had been with Adrian, he knew despite being their older brother it didn’t seem they liked to listen to him all that often. Rhys nodded his head, ”I think not using his name gives him all the power, don’t you think?” It would keep the fear alive. Instead, Rhys had his own reputation in this field and Elias had also been in the public eye as a Triwizard Champion. It changed the image. They were going to take the name back. There was one other question on his mind and while it might have been inappropriate to ask a random person, in this case it seemed perfectly relevant. ”Did he turn you?” So far Max was the only one that wasn’t a werewolf and Rhys and Jamie both had a complex relationship with their curse while Adrian seemed to enjoy it. Her question was valid, and he wasn’t sure if there were rules against this but even if they were nobody ever seemed to follow those lesser-known rules as long as treasure was brought back and everybody was in one piece (more or less). He didn’t see the problem, plus it would give him a chance to get to know her. ”The bank only cares about its treasure.” He began, closing the file in front of him. ”And that we come back, if only to save the hassle of replacing us.” Goblin relationships were always challenging but training new Curse Breakers when an experienced one died, disappeared, retired or was injured cost them Galleons and especially since they couldn’t do solitary work until their training was complete. ”So until I’m told otherwise, I don’t think it is.” Rhys could have rolled his eyes at the mention of Egypt, but he didn’t. It wasn’t his favorite place to go. ”We will since it’s a good place to train, but I actually work a lot in South America and occasionally in Greece. But also, wherever they seem to need me.” Rhys hadn’t opted for the path that Jasper took where he focused on an area, and this way he traveled where he was needed and would visit home. Still, there was one last thing. He crossed his arms again, his eyes becoming serious. ”I assume I don’t have to tell you about Elias?” It had been just over two months now, but time didn’t seem to work on this wound.

▲ So there were more? And he knew who they were? She almost just figured that the eye color was dominant in the spawn of Fenrir. She couldn’t really tell with Elias through newspaper clippings, but had sort of assumed that he was the same way. Her previously slouched demeanor gained a bit of a new spark at the prospect of there being others. While finding just one sibling was good enough for her, more was better. Or at least she assumed it was. Were they all going to take the news as easily as Rhys was? If he knew of others, that meant he had done this a couple of times already. She was simply late to the party. “So there are more than just three of us?” she finally asked. It would make sense to assume she knew of Elias. It was hard not to considering the news as of late. Dahlia disagreed with the naming convention, and made sure to shake her head side-to-side to show just that. She never knew who he was to begin with, and it the mark of the wolf was a good enough sign that she was one of his offspring. “Yeah,” Dahlia answered, pulling down the collar of her shirt over her shoulder and turning so Rhys could see the scars on the back. “You?” she asked back, almost sort of assuming that they were the same at this point. It didn’t seem farfetched. If her father was capable of turning her, he’d probably done it to the others as well. Afflict them with the same curse so that they were all a part of his horrible little game of life. Talking about work was a good divergence, though it seemed like if she was going to be paired with Rhys, she was going to end up all over the world. Not like she hadn’t done that already, but her mother had always saved endlessly so that the two of them could go back to Cairo whenever possible. Dahlia never really enjoyed her time there, her mother’s side of the family tending to be…cold towards what happened. She couldn’t really blame them. Cultural differences waged war at all times within her mother’s home, and it made absolute since where she got it from. “If the bank pays for travel, I’m not complaining. I’ve never really thought about anything other than Egypt though…”But as quickly as they had moved onto work, Rhys turned it back to the family, and asked about her knowledge on Elias. She nodded her head. “I wanted to get here while the tournament was going on, but couldn’t get the funds together in time,” she admitted. She was still having trouble deciding if she was upset or not over the fact that a sibling had died. There was little to go on outside of the papers, though she assumed she’d hear more bits and pieces as time went on. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new Three of us. At one point it had been, but Elias had been the first new sibling he’d met after Max and he’d always wondered if there were more, but it wasn’t exactly as if one could search for them. He was sure not many would have listed him as the father or some of them wouldn’t have the name. Her physical posture changed. He’d caught her attention with what he’d said. Though if she hadn’t interested it would have been a first as when he’d met Jamie and then his brother and younger sister, they’d all been surprised but also happy to meet one another. ”Yes.” He responded. ”Jamie just graduated. Adrian has a year left and Max has two.” Those were the living ones anyway, no doubt she knew Elias unless the third she mentioned was someone else entirely. There had always been that large age gap between himself and the three of them, not that he minded but now there was Dahlia somewhere in the middle. She disagreed with his reasoning as much as he did hers, but to each their own he supposed. It wasn’t for him to decided what name she used, and even Max and Jamie had their own reasons as well for using it. Dahlia showed him the bite mark on her shoulder, it reminded him of his own though his was different since he’d been so young and small versus how he physically was now. ”When I was five. Also my shoulder.” Another thing in common, but maybe it was just an easy spot to be bitten. ”Max is the only one he didn’t turn.” And Rhys would do whatever he could in his own power to keep it that way. It was a curse, he hated it as much as most werewolves did—at least most sane ones. Right now all he had was her word that Fenrir was her father, though he couldn’t exactly doubt the haunting shade of blue of her eyes that matched his own and that savagery of that scar. She must have been older when she had been turned, what was her story. Now she was starting to sound like a new Curse Breaker, they all wanted to go to Egypt and that was natural though Rhys tired quickly of hearing it. There was so much out in the world to see, yes the items in other parts of the world might be less shiny than in the Egyptian pyramids but it was all valuable nonetheless. Though it seemed every time Rhys had a serious accident it happened in Egypt as well. ”What’s in Egypt?” He asked. Her answer would tell him a few things. What she was looking for in terms of what she assumed Curse Breaking might be and what she expected to find there. The stories told about them weren’t always entirely accurate but there were always different reasons each of them had. Just as Jasper preferred Italy as it was far away. ”We’ll be there often while you’re training, but not all the time.” Elias. He’d always wondered why it hurt so much for someone he’d known such a short amount of time and Dahlia’s missed opportunity. Rhys paused. He didn’t want to talk about him. But he supposed if he’d been in her shoes he would have questions or want to know about him. Still, he wasn’t even the right person to ask. ”I didn’t spend as much time with him as Jamie and Max did.” He wasn’t sure what else to add to that, unless she had a specific question in mind. But he was sure she had many questions now. Rhys paused again. He was supposed to be talking about work and going through the rest of his script as was usual, but nothing about this was usual. ”So, any questions about work?”

▲ Three younger siblings. That he knew of and had interacted with. She was surprised that there were that many. Apparently their shared father liked England a lot more than France. It made sense, she supposed. Here she was, thinking she was an outlier for so long. All she had to do was follow a couple stories and go to the neighboring country and she would find more family members. It was almost unbelievable. “So one sister and two brothers…I guess it’s good that he didn’t get the youngest yet.” Dahlia knew she was being blunt about it, but this Max kid would probably be hearing from Fenrir soon, if her own age was indicative of it. Rhys indicated that he was turned when he was five, and she grimaced at it. And here she thought being turned when a teenager was awful. How do you explain the transformation to a child? Her first couple months doing it were some of the most terribly agonizing memories she could remember. Having to do that at such a young age made her feel physically nauseas. Getting away from the family talk and onto work was probably for the best, and Rhys had a valid question regarding Egypt. The fact that they would be there quite a bit during her training was promising, and she decided it was worth giving him the low down on why she was so interested. It certainly had to be a popular choice for most in the business, considering. “My mother was Egyptian. I’m fluent in Arabic, can read hieroglyphics, and I’ve studied the ancient history of the country extensively. And I’ve been to a number of the cities since growing up.” Though her memory was growing hazy now that it had been a number of years since her last trip. Over five years now, at the very least. As for if she had any more questions about work, Dahlia grinned and leaned forward in her chair, “When do we start?” The sooner the better, in her opinion. She was tired of waiting around and studying about things. She wanted to put her knowledge into use, and she was finally in a spot to do that. As long as there wasn’t another couple of months of classroom learning, she knew she could pick up things on the spot. She wouldn’t have made it this far if she wasn’t capable of doing that. they say don't open old wounds but you're still brand new The ‘distribution’, as it were, of Fenrir’s spawn had never quite made sense to Rhys though he knew that he had originally been from England. It was hard to say what the werewolf and pseudo-Death Eater might have done after the war ended and he was on the run. They’d never quite managed to scoop him up and he wondered if he might have had older siblings while he went rampant in service to the Dark Lord. ”One brother, two sisters actually.” Rhys corrected her. ”Max is short for Maxima.” He was sure it was a lot of information to take in. To find out you actually had four half-siblings all in the same day. Rhys meeting just one had experienced the shock of his life but only because he’d felt so alone otherwise. He wondered what her story was, he knew the others’ stories even if they didn’t fully know his own. The individual family dynamics that comprised the Greyback pack was varied. Three of them had their mothers still while one even had maternal half-siblings. Rhys felt he represent at least one extreme option of having neither. Rhys nodded his head, it was impressive for a trainee to have this background even if she was older. To him it showed she didn’t waste time, she had likely studied while waiting to be a Curse Breaker. It was a good feeling, knowing she wouldn’t be at least difficult in knowledge and learning but the job was much more than that. ”Well, saves me some training time.” He noted. Though he was and wasn’t surprised to know that Fenrir had made it to the Middle East and France. What other siblings were still out there waiting to be discovered? ”Egypt is the most popular site for us, but the newcomers underestimate its difficulty. A lot of injuries happen there.” Rhys cautioned, the majority of his injuries including a few major ones had happened here which just added to his reasons of why he chose not to go there voluntarily very often. Well, she was eager, but he remembered the feeling himself. Wanting to get dirt on your brand new boots and experience under your belt. It was good. Rhys had dealt with new trainees that essentially hated being outside or getting dirt on their robes and he’d sent them back as fast as he had gotten them. ”We can leave in a few days.” There was pre work to be done in terms of studying specifically for this particularly job. ”But, we can stay here a few extra days if you want to meet Jamie and Max. I think Adrian might even be around.” There wasn’t much else to discuss and he never liked this particular room, you’d think Auror’s interrogated people in here. Or maybe the ones that worked for the goblins did. He gathered the paperwork he had in front of him into a neat stack. [you can end]

▲ Her question was answered before she could even ask it; Max was short for Maxima, and she had made the mistake of assuming something about a new younger sibling. There was going to be a lot to get used to going forward, between this and the new job. Having both happen at the same time wasn’t exactly what Dahlia had expected when deciding to move to England. Apparently this was all the luck she had been saving up her whole life to use, because it had been noticeably absent for everything up until today. “Right, sorry. A lot of things are happening at the same time,” she admitted. At least she apparently wasn’t going to have to worry too much about parts of the training, if Rhys’s comment was anything to go off of. The two years between graduation and now hadn’t all gone to waste, as much as some people had tried to tell her. Sure, it would have been easier to be a Curse Breaker out of the French office, but she wanted to work out of London. There was so much more for here now that all of her ties back home were gone. Starting anew was going to be difficult, she knew that much, but it was going well so far. Expecting it to stay this way would be silly, and yet she had a feeling this was going to end up a lot better than had she stayed in France for work. She wasn’t even worried about the possibilities of getting injured. Pain was a sensation that she had to deal with monthly under the scrutinizing gaze of the full moon. Rhys had to understand that just as well as she did. As for her question on when training would begin, he told her that it would most likely be a few days from now. That was fair enough. She still had to get settled in here, having barely scraped together a small studio flat in the week before coming over. It would be sufficient as a home for the time being, and really all she needed was somewhere to sleep while she was waiting for a new job to come her way. “Might as well get it done now. I don’t see any reason to waste time,” she pointed out. Especially if Curse Breaking was as dangerous as everything she had read said it was. If all of her luck was exhausted in getting here, there was a really good chance this was going to be a short career for her. At least she would be able to make herself known to her siblings first. There was one positive in all of this. [THE END] MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
