December 4, 2025 Bianca countered her that it was impossible to be completely disconnected from the wider world. If not their families, she continued, then something else would have meaning to them. That was true eventually, Sarah thought. As for herself, she couldn't imagine not knowing what had become of Sebastian—not because she wanted to nurture him, exactly, but more in the sense of a sort of curiosity. He was her flesh and blood.
Barring any responsibilities, though, Sarah had little doubt that someone potentially could remain on the run for much longer than Bianca probably would have liked to imagine. There were ways of disappearing in the magical world, and there were plenty more of deceiving the Ministry and Magical Interpol.
It wasn't advertising on Witch TV that Bianca wanted, though. She was talking—as she pointed out—about developing relationships outside of the Ministry. "Information can come from all kinds of sources," she stated, even mentioning "pest control" as one of those sources.
As much as Sarah would have loved to see that Goyle bloke try his luck as an information broker, she knew that wasn't what Bianca meant, either. No, her thoughts had gone to the people who handled the Ministry's public information. "If you want to try that…" She was skeptical that anything that Bianca suggested would work, but they couldn't actually sit around and do nothing.

They never seemed to have much free time, but Aurors did love to talk about work even in their off-hours. Crazy stories about chasing criminals into the sewers, or a complex little jinx that had swept a fleeing convict off their feet. And less rare were the conversations about methodology – what the department was doing right, but also what it needed to be doing better. The escaped prisoners from Azkaban were a problematic issue for the department. The issue demanded significant resources and attention, and the whole thing had been a PR fiasco for the Ministry. Bianca rarely spent any time in the office, and even less time talking to her coworkers. She’d always worked best solo, not as a pair. She couldn’t say she liked Sarah Oliveira, but the woman forced her to defend her arguments. There was value in that, more than if she’d just agreed in the first place. Bianca found her mind swirling with thoughts about how to be more strategic in her wild goose chase – how to use a criminal’s own habits and quirks against him. Sarah seemed skeptical about most of what she’d said, but Bianca only shrugged at her. She knew she was right, that there was some value to investing time into mapping out these criminals’ networks. That would require bullying an analyst into pulling some extra hours for her – a conversation that already had her mentally sighing with exasperation – and maybe even contacting someone at the Prophet. “Maybe I will,” she responded, unable to avoid the slight challenge in Sarah’s unconvinced tone. Bianca didn’t need anyone’s approval, as long as her arrest numbers didn’t dip and she still had something to show for her time. By the inherent nature of the job, it required independence and initiative from all the Aurors – two qualities that Bianca had in spades. She glanced down at the signed stack of paperwork, and primly stacked everything so she could slide it back into her arms. “See you around, Oliveira,” she said dismissively as she turned sharply on her heel in the direction of her cubicle. There wasn’t much fanfare to her exit, but that had never been her style. And anyway, she and Sarah would probably have a million similar conversations in the future. Neither of them were going anywhere. sarah jane oliveira [End post Bianca!]

December 4, 2025 Sarah didn't really care much about what Bianca did or didn't want to try. It wasn't as though Bianca Rivera were the head of the department. Her having an idea only meant just that, that she had an idea. She still had to go through the proper channels to get anything approved for real, hence the signatures she'd needed from her in the first place. There was just enough leeway that they didn't need two pairs of eyes to sign off on every last thing, but Sarah also knew that she didn't have to be that person. In that regard, she much preferred the Purifiers to working for Magical Interpol. They could do things first and ask questions later, just as long as no one committed a mutiny.
"See you around, Oliveira," Bianca said in parting, turning to return to her own cubicle as though they weren't within walking distance of each other. At least their pointless conversations made it seem as though they were both doing something that was actually worthwhile. Keeping up that façade was good for Sarah, though, and so she nodded her head as she tried to think of something "productive" to do.
"…See you," Sarah replied, boredom obviously having set in a long time before. "Let me know if I need to sign anything else for you." It was the least she could do to maintain her cover.
