Summer 2008
Eeva's parents would always play off her comments as an overactive imagination. The girl was a dreamer, no doubt about it. Her head was always in the clouds. She beat to her own drum, and seems perfectly content in her own little world. She had many imaginary friends, or rather, she pretended the animals in the village had voices and that she could understand them. IT was cute. When she was little. As she started to grow older though, and out of the imaginary friend phase, it started to concern them. While some of her antics had toned down she'd never stopped talking to the animals like they were people, or acting like she understood their responses. While Druids did have a strong connection with animals clear communication like this wasn't a trait their people had.
They tried to speak with her, to get to the bottom of her behavior. Surely there was a reason she acted this way! The talk didn't go anywhere, as Eeva adamamently responded that she could speak with the animals and understand them. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't convince her otherwise. Though they tried again, and again. Until one day...
Eeva and her older brother had wandered off alone. The girl nine and her brother fifteen. The family's loyal dog trailing behind them happily. Until the accident. Her brother fell, breaking his ankle. Eeva, due to her age, knew no healing magic. She turned to the family dog. "You go get a healer, okay? The big woman, with black hair." The description was vague to most, bu black hair wasn't a common characteristic for Druids, so it was clear enough. Her brother rolled his eyes, cradling his ankle as his sister spoke to the animal. "He doesn't understand you." She puffed out her cheeks and glared at her brother, then looked back at the dog. "Go on."
To her brother's surprise, the dog, tail wagging, turned around and bolted off. Ten minutes later... the dog came bounding back, the healer in tow. The exact healer Eeva had described.
After that day Eeva's parents never doubted her ability.
