Beatrice grunted non-committedly at Cade’s lead comment. She was a Quidditch Correspondent after all, so she didn’t really foray into the political world for her job. She was however a very curious individual and couldn’t help but be interested in politics. So much had changed just over the past three years; she didn’t even know how many Ministers they’d had. Three? Or was it four? Quite a few regardless, and now that Elaine was being reported as dead, another Minister had been killed. To Bea that was extremely suspicious.
Realizing she wasn’t going to get anything out of Cade, if he knew anything to begin with, she shook her head. “Nope, just finished that article and was planning on going home,” she told him as her stomach rumbled. Had she eaten dinner tonight? Likely the answer was no; her stomach was good at reminding her to eat sometimes. “Well, apparently home will have to wait as I am hungry and currently have no food. Forgot to go grocery shopping yesterday and obviously today got away from me.” Beatrice checked her watch for the time. “Do you want to go grab a bite? The pub down the street serves food for another hour,” she suggested, looking back up at him expectantly.

come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen December 1, 2025 @beatrice Cade often wondered if he had known the world would have turned out the way it did when he was sixteen or seventeen, would he have believed it? The Purifiers and other terrorist groups' actions, students being killed at Hogwarts, and blood status still an issue for some. Then again, he had been a bit naïve at that age—too chivalrous for his own good and to the point where people were sure he had been sorted into the wrong house. The older he got and the more he saw, the more he struggled not to fall into pure pessimism. But he always tried to stay realistic. Otherwise, he probably wasn’t going to be very effective at his job.
Beatrice asked if he would join her for dinner, and Cade nodded in agreement. He didn’t have any plans. His work often left him lacking most weeks for a social life. After a while, he would notice it wearing on him. His personality was pretty extroverted, so he enjoyed the social interactions of being out even if he’d put in a long day at the paper. ”Which pub?” He asked curiously, there were a few nearby, but his free time as of late had been occupied with Ouroboros work or writing smaller articles for local art galleries and such events where he could get out and not be stuck behind his desk. Cade missed those days of leg work, talking to people, and chasing down leads. An editor's work was enjoyable, but some days he found any excuse not to sit behind his desk. Cade drank the rest of his whiskey and placed the glass back on his desk while he eyed the bottle. ”Another for the road or wait till we get there?”

Beatrice pretended to ponder the idea of another drink, then grinned. “Obviously one more for the road,” she said, holding out her glass for another drink. Once their glasses were both full, she took another sip, savoring the taste on her tongue before swallowing. “I’m thinking 14 Hills,” she added, mentioning the name of the place she had in mind. She’d been there a few times before, and it was a stark difference to the old pubs all around the city. The inside was lushly decorated with plants, trees and flowers; it felt like you were transported into a jungle paradise when you walked inside. It was unique, and she had a feeling Cade would like it. “It’s just about a five minute walk from here if that’s short enough,” she teased, knowing Cade would be perfectly fine with the walk.
They finished their drinks quickly and Beatrice walked out of the office to fetch her coat. Sliding it on, she buttoned up against the chilly night air and tucked her arm into Cade’s in a friendly manner as they left. The walk was brisk, which kept Beatrice feeling warm (as did the drinks before they left), but she was still relieved when they reached their destination. Opening the door, she turned around to let Cade in first so he could experience the decor firsthand. “Good enough for you?” she asked with a smile.

come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen December 1, 2025 @beatrice Cade grinned, of course, another for the road. Drinking a large amount of whiskey, he waited a moment to respond to let the burning in his throat clear. ”That sounds lovely.” Cade hadn’t been there before. He hadn’t thought about it much before since his work schedule had made him a creature of habit in terms of stopping by pubs before heading home. A change of scenery was never a bad thing. Drinking the remaining contents of his glass, he placed it back on his desk next to Beatrice’s glass. Putting the whiskey bottle back in his desk drawer, he waved his wand to clean the glasses and placed those in the drawer.
”Well it’s a good thing you’re here. I don’t know how I managed five-minute walks without you.” Cade teased in return. While they’d obviously become closer friends while working here, they’d known one another a long time. Cade grabbed his coat from the front of his office and closed and magically locked the door behind him, and they exited the empty building. He didn’t mind at all how she tucked her arm into his as they made their way to the restaurant. Now, he wasn’t used to walking in first as he normally would have, but he paused to take in the scenery as he walked in. ”I think it is, excellent choice.” Cade responded with a grin. ”Have you come here often?”

Beatrice stuck her tongue out at him. “Don’t be cheeky,” she chided, nudging him lightly. She was glad she had a coworker who she was comfortable with; sure they’d been rivals at Hogwarts, but it had always been friendly, with no intended malice behind it. It was healthy to compete in Bea’s opinion; it made them both strive to do and be better.
Beatrice gave him a few moments to take in the scenery of the pub they had just entered. It wasn’t just your regular run of the mill pub that she was sure Cade was used to, it had a real style and flair that made it unique. She led them to an empty table near one of the big indoor trees, and grabbed two menus for them to peruse. “How do you feel about tartare? I like both tuna and beef, but I know it’s not for the faint of heart,” she suggested teasingly. She had been rather surprised the first time she tried beef tartare, and more surprised that she had liked it. “And drinks, of course. They have some amazing cocktails here. And chips, theirs are delicious.” She looked up and saw the waitress was standing in front of them. “We’ll start off with a plate of your rosemary sea salt chips, and I will have a Ficus Fizz,” she ordered, then waited for Cade to make his decision.

come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen December 1, 2025 @beatrice Cade grinned as she nudged him. It felt like only yesterday he’d met Beatrice as a housemate, a year below him—not that it mattered to her. These long-standing relationships were important to Cade, she was a dear friend, and they’d had their fun together. But most importantly, he felt comfortable with her, he could speak his mind, and they could discuss topics that would cause competitiveness among his other journalists. For a long time, he’d asked her to move from Quidditch reporting as her talents were useful for the stories that made the front page, but he hadn’t won that battle yet.
”I enjoy both.” Cade admitted. When he was younger, he had found it an odd choice for food, but traveling had its perks. Sampling different cuisines had expanded his palate and added to his knowledge and love of cooking. Beatrice explained that they had an excellent selection of drinks, and he was still warm from the whiskey but eager to continue. Cade skimmed the menu as the waitress waited on his order. ”I’ll also have a Ficus Fizz.” As he looked and grinned at the waitress before looking back across the table.
