And we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything Addy adjusting the scarf around her neck, the green and silver material she had grown accustomed to all these years, and perhaps even her parents had finally grown accustomed to it as well. She knew they would have preferred she follow her older siblings' footsteps into Gryffindor or even Ravenclaw, but the Sorting Hat had other ideas that September morning. Her Magical Theory class had just finished and assigned some final assignments she was to finish ahead of the term break, and she had some time before lunch and her afternoon class--Transfiguration. Despite the rather frigid weather, there was also a Quidditch practice called, and although she didn't mind the practice itself and honing her skills for the springtime, there was something left to be desired about the winter weather and riding a broomstick. But, if it made her a better player, then she wouldn't complain. She entered the library. Her bag was full of the textbooks she needed for her current assignments. If one were to open the bag, they would see all the spines facing up to see which textbook was there and all the lettering facing the same direction. She never minded studying alone and would find a quiet corner to do so, but she paused as her gaze came across a familiar redhead and the recognizable freckles. Addy grinned and walked over to the empty seat next to her friend, quickly sitting down and setting her bag down neatly next to her chair. "There you are." She spoke with a smile on her face. The two had become friends during a double Potions lesson in first year, where the Professor had insisted that the students partner with a student of the other house. Their personalities are different where Addy tends to think and wait a moment and often has to grab the back of her Gryffindor friend's cloak before she jumps away at something.

Brígh hunched over her Ancient Runes essay, trying to get the exact form of the dagaz rune. She'd never excelled at drawing straight lines, and this was no exception. Since her snap decision to study for a career in curse breaking last year, Brígh had rather struggled with the course load. Runes came easily to her, similar enough to the Irish-Gaelic language with which she had spoken since she was a young girl. However, Arithmancy was another story. Numbers were not her strength. But the adventure of curse breaking called, and who was she to deny answering?
Scribbling out the wonky dagaz, Brígh mumbled to herself. "Is this even the right one I'm meant to be writing?" The question went unanswered as she leaned back in her chair, thinking. Her mind instead wandered to the last Hogsmeade weekend, which it so often did. When she had kissed Albus. She'd not mentioned it to his sister, who happened to be just the year above her. Lily was a bit frightening, if she were to be honest. And even more so reckless than she.
So lost in her fantasy, Brígh jumped when someone slid into the chair next to her. She looked up, her cheeks flushed darkly. "Addy! Hello!" she greeted, rather more squeakily than she would have liked. Their friendship was perhaps an unlikely one, but Brígh didn't care that she was a Slytherin. As long as someone wanted an adventure, she would answer their call. And Addy was no exception to that - the pair had gotten into numerous tight spots since the day they were paired up in double potions in their first year. "Here I am, yes," she added, pushing her book away. "Thank goodness you came to save me from the drivel of runes. Soon I won't be able to speak English anymore," said Brígh with a grin. "Not like I've done well in the first place."
"So, what's the craic? Hows the team doing? Shaping up to win the Quidditch Cup?" asked Brígh, though she had little interest in Quidditch. Her friend was an avid player, so Brígh supported her on that front. Even if she found it to be a bit of a waste of time. Flying was fine, but there were just so many rules and hundreds of fouls. How could you keep up?

And we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything It was clear that Brigh was distracted, though, at first glance, Addy figured her homework was merely capturing it all. However, when Addy announced herself, there was an all too familiar look on her friend's face accompanied by a flush to her cheeks. It made her wonder, despite how much Addy actually enjoyed her studies and strived to do her best, not even the most interesting of subjects ever made her blush. Her eyebrow raised curiously as her gaze lingered on her friend for an extra moment. "Well, I can't say I can make you blush like...Ancient Runes apparently does." Her tone playful and sarcastic as she leaned over to see what homework Brigh was working on. She turned to take out her Charms textbook for some light reading that was assigned the day before. Unfortunately, she was already a day behind due to Quidditch practice the night before, but nothing that couldn't be easily remedied. Once the textbook was on the table in front of her, she quickly shifted to more fully face Brigh. Addy always appreciated Brigh's interest in Quidditch, even if it was solely on her behalf. She half smiled and shrugged, "Well, I'm hoping last night's awful practice was only because we were too cold." Her smile faded for a moment as she looked away. The practice hadn't been their best, though she certainly tried her best, she wondered why certain team members were so unfocused. She supposed it could be worse, she could pick up one of the other Chasers' slack, but she knew if she had been made Captain, she would run things differently. A difference of opinion, she supposed. But, she didn't want to dwell on that at the moment. Instead, she looked back, a grin plastered on her face. "SO. You want to tell me what you were really thinking about?" After all these years, the girls knew how to read one another about as well as anyone. Brigh knew Addy and her struggles, issues with her family, and all those details she never let slip to the rest of the world. Although she had her own homework to finish, she wasn't going to pass up a moment to gossip about something. It was just about her favorite activity next to chess, homework, and quidditch here.

Brígh coloured further at how easily Addy could read her. To the untrained eye, she could simply be very involved in her homework. But to Addy, she knew that her thoughts had drifted. And as usual, they had drifted to those shared moments with Albus. Addy leaned over to check in on Brígh's essay, which she had not gotten very far with in all fairness. But instead of harping on, Addy slammed her charms book onto the table and flipped it open. "I can't believe you'd read your charms textbook for fun," said Brígh. That was a very Addy thing to do though. Brígh thought that it was sacrilege.
Though Brígh had next to no interest in Quidditch, she always commented on it for Addy. She was so determined and hard working. "Keep this up and I'm certain you'll be made captain next year," said Brígh, believing every word she said. "Can't you wear like thicker gloves?" she added, looking down at her runes paper once more before rolling it up in resignation. That was quite enough work for one day, though Addy would contradict her opinion. Addy seemed to love doing homework. Brígh did not understand all the wonders of her friend, but after five years of friendship, she didn't question her. "Have you seen Cheese by the way?" asked Brígh, curious as to where the final third of their trio had gone off to.
Brígh leaned back in her chair, stretching languidly. She nearly tipped over as Addy shot the question she should have been expecting all along. "Erm," said Brígh, regaining her balance. "Well... you know how I've fancied Albus for literally ages?" Brígh paused for Addy to confirm that her crush had teetered on the edge of obsession. "Well, the last Hogsmeade... we kissed! We kissed and oh my goodness Addy it was like everything I thought it would be!" she exclaimed, the words rushing out like water from a dam. "It just sort of... happened. We ran into each other at the sweets shop then went to Three Broomsticks and just sort fo got cosy and... yeah," Brígh finished rather lamely. "But honestly, his lips are so soft and the things he can do with his tongue, I mean I can't wait to see--" Brígh froze, her face draining of colour as she stared over Addy's shoulder. The librarian had swooped in, and shushed the pair harshly. Brígh bit her lip, watching as the librarian sauntered away, then glanced back at Addy, her eyes bright, inviting hushed commentary from her friend.

And we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything Addy had an amused smirk on her face. There wasn’t much hiding one could do from the other at this point. Brígh had correctly guessed that Addy was upset about Quidditch practice once from glancing at her from down a hallway. And he supposed Raphael was so used to capturing people’s expressions with his camera, he was pretty good at reading them as well. ”You all make homework seem like such a chore.” She commented, it had never bothered her, but she enjoyed the challenge of doing whatever it took to be the top of her class or close to it. Expectations were a good way of lighting a fire, so to speak. She smiled at her friend’s encouragement. The current captain was going to graduate, and Addy had been on the house team since her second year and hoped she could secure that spot the following year. She shrugged, Brígh’s suggestion was worthwhile, but it wasn’t the real issue there. Addy opened her charms textbook but looked back up at the mention of their other friend. ”Might still be in class.” After they had all taken their OWLs their schedules had shifted ever so slightly. The core classes were more or less the same, but their electives differed in some cases. But there was also still a chance he was wandering the grounds. There were some great views (or so she was told) and pictures to be taken. While Addy wasn’t all that interested in photography herself, she supported her friend. She only pestered him at least once a month to let her take apart his camera to see how it worked though she was only about ninety-nine percent sure she could get it back in full working order. Addy gave her friend a persistent look, she wasn’t going to let it go, and Brígh almost fell out of her chair for it. Addy looked around to see if anyone was watching or even if the Librarian was nearby. She was very picky about the noise. But she leaned in when Brígh began to explain, Addy’s eyes growing wide with curiosity and letting out a small gasp and throwing her hands over her mouth in surprise. While Addy had been worried a moment about being too loud, now she was utterly invested in this new story—this new twist of events. ”Why are you just now telling me this!” She said in a loud whisper. Her friend’s crush on the youngest Potter son was a known fact, though Addy sometimes wondered what was so interesting about a brooding nature. Addy leaned in further since the details were just now getting juicy, at least until Brígh stopped speaking. She looked over her shoulder and saw the rapidly approaching woman who quieted them quickly and loudly. Addy’s face had an apologetic look, but then she wandered off, and Addy turned back to Brígh. Not to let her friend get away with skipping the details, she caught her attention again by lightly hitting her arm. ”What else happened? Are you going to see him again?” She asked, trying to whisper as best she could.

Brígh fixed her friend with a blank stare. "Addy, homework is a chore," she said solemnly. She couldn't imagine many things worse than having to complete 12 inches of runic explanations rather than just going out to explore their power on their own. She was much more of an act first, think later sort of person. Her attention was hard to keep, though Addy did an excellent job of holding it. Except when she went on about Quidditch - Brígh didn't understand the allure of the sport, but supported Addy all the same. She made an offhand suggestion, not really caring if it was useful or not. Brígh wondered aloud where the third part of their trio was, and Addy remarked that he was likely still in class. "Hmm. The boy needs all the help he can get," said Brígh, rolling up her parchment.
Raphael, or Cheese as they had affectionately dubbed him, had a habit of getting distracted by the things he thought he could capture on film. Brígh wished she'd been around for the first moment that Cheese had developed film in the magical potion to make his photos move. Though she supposed videos were similar. Addy often pestered Cheese about having a look at his camera, but Brígh knew she had no interest in the photography aspect. She liked to tinker with things. Perhaps she would become a famous inventor, and would create a robot that would take Brígh's classes for her so she could wander about the grounds and such to her heart's content. Or even sneak off to clandestine Hogsmeade visits...
As Brígh's mind wandered down the Albus-centric rabbit hole again, Addy brought her back to reality with a question that nearly made her fall out of her chair. Brígh arranged her features in a mask of mystery, which quickly shattered at her glee. Addy was furious at Brígh's lengthly silence. She was about to get more into the details, after swooning over the memory itself, when they were so rudely interrupted by the librarian telling them to pipe down. Brígh fixed the woman with a glare, sticking her tongue out at her retreating figure before returning her attention to Addy. "I think we will see each other again, yeah," she whispered, her cheeks flushed with excitement. "Nothing else really happened, I mean we were in public. But wow the magic of his tongue. Oh Addy, I would absolutely love to see what other tricks he's got up his sleeve," said Brígh with a devious grin.

and we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything There was no shock in Brígh’s response. It seemed that Addy was one of a tiny majority of Hogwart’s students that enjoyed doing homework. Addy gave her friend a look. ” It’s a chore if you wait until three hours before it’s due to complete it.” Her tone sarcastic, and Addy knew she was speaking the truth. One could tell which class and Professor had just assigned a three-foot essay when the library suddenly ran out of seating that morning. Addy nodded on the point about the third part of the trio, it seemed the Addy had enough attention span for both herself and Cheese, but his overall perspective on the world was much different than her own. The three members were so different in their personalities, interests, and temperaments, but it provided a bit of balance. Brígh was enough positive energy for all of them, Raphael provided the creative perspective and the reminder to slow down and enjoy the view for once. Addy found herself bringing them both back down to Earth on occasion when she reminded them to complete their latest Transfiguration assignments.
In this very moment, however, they were just two teenage girls giggling over Brígh’s revelation about Albus and what had transpired about them. Regardless of Addy’s feelings toward the older boy, she still wanted to know everything. Addy figured since dating had not been something that had been too much of a part of her school experience, she did enjoy hearing the gossip—even if she felt a bit behind at times about it all. The librarian had not seemed amused by their noise and outburst. Addy didn’t like the feeling of being scolded, but she managed to push that away as she turned back to Brígh for an answer to her question. Addy put her hands over her mouth, and her eyes went wide when she shared some more…intimate details. Really, she was hiding her own slight blush at the thought but also stifling a very girly giggle.
”Merlin Brígh, are we talking about the same Albus?” She wondered in a slightly loud whisper. Addy hadn’t spent a lot of time with him. He’d been a year above, so she saw him around enough, but he’d been on the more introverted side—the opposite of his siblings. ”I still can’t believe you waited to tell me.” She scolded her friend again. The fact that she hadn’t been updated, at most, two days after said events occurred was frankly a bit insulting. Addy did her best to appear betrayed, though she was already past actually feeling it. ”Has he written you?”

Brígh shook her head at Addy. "What's the fun in homework if you're not rushing to finish it and begging your bezzie mate to help you with it?" asked Brígh, playfully winking at Addy. Brígh was notoriously bad at homework and working on her own. She worked best in groups and discovering things in person. Not reading and writing about them. She was a firm believer that the best things were experienced. Addy was always the one to remind her and Cheese that they actually had to write these essays before they were to succeed in the real world. Passing Hogwarts was the first priority - whatever it took. "Luckily I've got the best friend in the whole world to help me. And her older siblings to help you help me," she added with a grin.
Finally, the news that Brígh had been truly dying to tell Addy gushed out of her. She'd tried keeping it to herself, close to her heart. She'd wanted to share, but she shared everything. Brígh was not one to tell secrets to, because often those secrets spilled out. As she rehashed the experience, Brígh found herself examining the interaction more closely. She'd mulled over the soft pressure of Albus' lips, the cool fingertips that had brushed her burning cheeks, his grip around her waist. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "I know, I know. I need a brooder to bring me down to Earth though," she countered. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to but I really need to practice keeping secrets. You know how bad I am with them," she said with a frown. "I wonder if Lily knows. She would probably rip me to shreds," she added thoughtfully.
When Addy asked if Albus had written her, she deflated. "No, not really. He said that he would but... well I imagine he's quite busy with training and such. I just..." she paused, heaving a great sigh. "I don't want to be just some fling or something. I don't want to be crushed. I felt it in that moment, you know that inexplicable pull. I so hope he felt it too but... well, I just don't know anything," she murmured, glancing at Addy, silently pleading for the blonde to hug her and tell her it would all be okay.

and we don't notice any time pass we don't notice anything Addy rolled her eyes. It was the same conversation she always had with her closest friends. Some people claimed the adrenaline rush of procrastinating an assignment produced a better result, but Addy couldn’t see it. She preferred to plan and even take her time on her assignments. Making sure it was near perfect, she didn’t like to rush—people made mistakes when they rushed. It made her think of career options and how in really anything one needed to be decisive. And that required planning and calculation. How did one do that with procrastination? ”You and Cheese would both be still in second year without me.” She commented with a hint of sarcasm. She didn’t mind helping them. It wasn’t as if they weren’t trying, but they all just had vastly different habits and attention spans, and really she wanted them to succeed. Still, she scoffed a little—she wasn’t sure how much they would have helped her with homework if she wasn’t as self-sufficient as she was.
Brígh apologized for keeping the information from Addy, but now that she knew she was more intrigued than anything. She supposed it was a good balance. Brígh and Albus’ personalities were vastly different. Addy didn’t have much experience dating. It wasn’t a subject she would ever admit was not easy for her. There was no textbook, no instructions, how did one excel at a topic they could not study? Brígh brought up Albus’ sister, Lily, and Addy’s thought for a moment—her expression showing her thinking. ”I doubt it. My brother and sister would never tell me these things.” And there was the question of whether Addy would even want to know about Grey and Claire’s social lives. She shook her head a bit. ”And I’m not sure I would want to know.” She admitted, so at least that gave Brígh some privacy. Addy didn’t know the youngest Potter well, but she had a very loud personality, much like her eldest brother.
Addy gave Brígh a sympathetic look. It wasn’t the first time she’d heard such a story. It could be difficult when one person was still in school, and the other was out in the real world. ”Yea, his training probably keeps him busy. Claire was always busy, too.” She tried to give a reassuring smile. Their schedules were vastly different now, and Auror’s were incredibly busy, let alone the ones in training. Brígh looked very down about the issue, and it worried Addy since her friend was not someone who was brought down by much. The group needed her energy. Addy scooted forward and pulled her friend into a hug. She didn’t like seeing her in such a mood, which made her wary of Albus’ intentions. Maybe she should write to Claire and casually ask more about Auror training to get more background. It was a career she was considering, after all. ”Don’t worry, he’ll write you back.” She assured Brígh. ”And if he doesn’t, I can ask Claire give him all the horrible grunt work she can find for him—if you want.”
