November 2025 @juliet
Noah knew how sheltered Juliet was. Her entire life her aunt had done everything she could to protect Juliet. Unfortunately those efforts had at times gone too far to the point where Juliet had missed out on many basic life experiences. Like going to the zoo, as she'd just suggested. Noah smiled. "Yeah, we should go," he answered. Her concern for her health wasn't bad, but Noah often felt like she'd been scared too much by her aunt about it. She worried more then she should, convincing herself that something wasn't possible when it might if they just took the right precautions.
His smile and gaze softened as she pouted and started telling him how she was the one that actually slowed him down. "Considering your safety doesn't slow me down," he quickly corrected. If he wanted to do something with Juliet he just simply didn't even consider activities that she wasn't able to do, simple as that. To be honest though, he wasn't really a socialize person, so he wasn't much interested in activities she couldn't do. Though one of his favorite hobbies, writing and making music, wasn't something he openly shared with Juliet anymore because she knew his music far to well. She already commented about how he reminded her of Erik Esper. She'd catch on far to quickly if he shared anything he was working on. After a moment he shrugged. "Besides, I'm not much interested in things you can't do."
Noah made a face as she joked that he'd just have to get his own favorites if he couldn't figure out her own. Now that seemed entirely selfish considering it was her birthday they were discussing! "I'll figure something out." If he couldn't pin down her favorites he sure as hell wasn't going to just get his own. He'd definitely have to talk to Emrys now. Thought he'd have to keep who the sweets were for a secret, as Emrys was far too obsessed with worldly pleasures to take a kind gesture for a birthday as exactly that. No doubt Emrys' mind would go to far more inappropriate thoughts.
Juliet really was putting a lot of things in his ballcourt, telling him to pick. Could she not be so easy to please? Noah was a simple guy, and now he had to consider not only what sort of sweets to get her but what sort of new movie she'd love. Sure, he knew her preferences but it was her birthday, not his. She should do what she wanted, not what other people thought she wanted. But, he'd go along with it. Because... it was her birthday. If that's what she wanted, then like he'd said before. He'd figure something out. "Okay, I'll find something,"

Noah pretty much agreed to the idea of going to the zoo together and Juliet instantly smiled broadly. It would be quite the challenge but if he wasn't against it then she was all the more excited to go. She'd try to get everything figured out so he wouldn't have to do a lot of work. It was already quite the kindness on his end to drag her along to the zoo. No doubt it would be a different experience than the one he was used to. She couldn't very well scrunch her nose up against the window while being squeezed between a million other people. She'd need to wait for the more quiet moments and try to at least stay away from the more crowded areas for the most part. It wasn't impossible but it was quite a bit more challenging. In a way half the fun was seeing just how weird people become when looking at animals. Not so different after all, was it?
He gave the perfect response to her saying she only slowed him down and she felt that by now oh so familiar flutter of butterflies in her stomach as she felt a slight blush creep up her cheeks. She quickly looked down, unable to keep a slight smile from her face as her hair gave her a small curtain of safety to hide her blush behind. He was just so fantastic and wonderful! He always made her feel like she wasn't really a burden, just somebody that took a little more planning. It felt really nice, although at times it made her worry twice as much that he actually did consider her a burden, even more so when they'd met up less as they both started to work. There had been a few times she thought he was just too busy for her. Naturally he'd always made time for her and in due time she'd come to trust (albeit tentatively) that he actually wanted to spend time with her but he just had a busy schedule. He said he wasn't that interested in things she couldn't do and she giggled for a moment. It was a nice thing to say, but probably not fully true. For starters, he worked in a shop like this, which she wouldn't really be able to do. In finding a career she'd had to take her health into account. Working in an actual store had been one of the first options to go. Now naturally that wasn't what he meant, but it still made her giggle. "I'd still love to go to a theatre show, like a live performance of any kind. Maybe one day there will be a small enough production that sounds cool we could go to. It'll just never be the famous singers that I want to see, you know? Either that or I wouldn't be able to afford a ticket." She said with a bit of a shrug. She was still working on accepting that part of her illness.
He said he'd figure something out and find something in terms of movie and a birthday cake. She smiled, perhaps a little smugly, but all in all she felt she was doing a fantastic job! She got to spend her birthday (well, one of them) with Noah and they were going to watch movies and eat cake! Quite clearly there was nothing more she could want because anything else would require her to actually confess she'd had a crush on him for years and that was just too terrifying. What if he didn't like her back? What if he wouldn't want to spend time with her because of her feelings for him? She imagined it might be awkward for him and she didn't really want things to take a turn for the worse between them. She cared about their friendship too much. Yet somewhere in the back of her mind there was that nagging question of what if. What if he did like her back? She shook herself from that particular daydream and took a sip from her drink. "I think I'm going to ask my aunt to make lasagna. She doesn't usually make it for just us two because it's too impractical. It's a shame really because I really like it."
