December 22, 2025 Trying to get as many of the Greyback half-siblings in one place as possible was incredibly difficult, but Rhys—despite offering up his place as a venue—had left it to Max to be the one to organize a meet-up. Her own home was probably not the best idea, at least where Juliet was concerned. Having so many pets around, Max didn't want to trigger a flare-up of her half-sister's health issues. Just to be on the safe side, she had also gone to the trouble of using a lint roller on her clothes before she left for Rhys's. She arrived to Rhys's flat before the others that evening, not wanting to leave him to be the one to set up the hot chocolate and the food on his own. Max trusted him with it, even if she didn't trust his taste in women. After she had caught him with Maria, she was a little hesitant, though enough time had passed since then that she didn't have to wonder too much about the cleanliness of the various surfaces around the place. Not really sure how many of their siblings they were expecting to have over, Max glanced occasionally at her mobile phone to make sure that she wouldn't miss any messages while she helped to get everything ready. "Have you heard from Dahlia, by the way?" she checked with Rhys. Since she was in training as a Curse-Breaker, while Rhys was a full-fledged Curse-Breaker himself, she figured that he would be the one to know if Dahlia would be coming or not. rhys alexander greyback@jamie @juliet

now these towns they all know our name Rhys had actually awoken at a decent time. He wouldn’t have a chance to sleep in and wallow in whatever hungover state he was in. So he did his best to stomach the hangover potion and some coffee and begin cleaning up his place. It truly was a bit of a bachelor pad, though he would spend more time away from home in the past few years than actually here. Really the purpose of today was to clean and make it hospitable to have guests over. His sister had medical sensitivities he watched out for, and the main thing: rid his flat of anything and everything that might link back to Maria. Even if she had kept him at arm’s length, it didn’t mean they hadn’t seen one another. Rhys could hardly avoid her now that she was carrying his child, but that wasn’t a conversation they were ready to have with his siblings yet—and Rhys wasn’t exactly looking forward to that conversation.
It was always a challenge this time of year, while he typically worked as other Curse Breakers took time off to spend with their families and some of his siblings had their own families and other half-siblings. But Rhys had told Max back in August that he would be home for the holidays this year, and it had just worked out as such. His time away had been limited to almost the entire month of December as he’d worked in Egypt and also visited Hy-Brasil to check out a rumor. But he wasn’t going to talk about those topics today. It could wait a day or two. Plus, Dahlia would not be joining them today. Curse Breakers were still needed to work and Hag’s Fever had slowed down her training. She was eager to make up for it. Her attitude toward their shared career and not needing the holidays was something he understood quite well—maybe it was their similar upbringing. Though Rhys did wish she would spend more time with his other sisters, just as he tried to do.
Plus, he still felt a twinge of guilt at the fact he was still lying to Max despite what he’d promised on Zombie Island that night. She was his sister. After all, his family was very important to him. Max arrived on time as usual. He’d asked her to help organize all this. Which he probably could have, but he’d been having trouble focusing on anything ever since he’d come back home, and Maria had dropped that bit of knowledge on him, plus he felt like he was in this perpetual state of being hungover as of late. She asked him about Dahlia, and he paused. He couldn’t remember if he or Dahlia were supposed to tell Max. Obviously, they had both forgotten. ”Oh, yes. She’s in Central America. They’re short on Curse Breakers this month.” He explained as he shifted some chairs around the table. ”She’s just about done with her training, then she can control her schedule a bit more.” He added. When one was a trainee, it was difficult to control such things, and Rhys was grateful he had already passed that stage.

Juliet was beyond excited she got to spend Christmas with her half siblings. Despite the fact that neither her mother nor her father wanted her, she still had family that did. Her aunt... took care of her. While she knew her aunt loved her dearly she also knew her aunt had never wanted to raise a child, but didn't blame her for it either. It was a little complicated, despite the two being very dear to each other. She'd been unlucky that she didn't only get a child she'd never wanted but also got one with severe health issues. Luckily her siblings were very accommodating for her, at least for the most part. She had packed her little (big) medical backpack and had kissed her aunt goodbye before travelling to her older brothers place. She couldn't use the floo network, as the ashes were not particularly good for her in case she inhaled at the wrong moment. Life came with limits, but luckily Julie came with a huge bundle of hope and positivity. She didn't have that much choice. She arrived and rung the bell a little tentatively. Despite them being family she still felt a little shy around them. She didn't really want to be a bother and if she started talking about her favourite subjects (the bands she loved and buildings) she knew she'd never properly shut up again, so she usually kept a bit more to the background and listened. She waited for the door to open and greeted her siblings in a soft voice but with a big and shy smile as they opened the door. "Hey." She said, biting her lip slightly as she stepped inside, her backpack still slung over her shoulder. "Thanks for having me. It means a lot." She was almost muttering, but she tried to avoid doing that around people she knew she could trust. "Are Jamie and Dahlia still coming?" She asked, a bit uncertain. She didn't really want to invade on anybody, but she did love having her siblings around, even Dahlia despite her being a bit of a smoker. It was just nice to have a family that made her feel wanted, truly and genuinely wanted. It was the only thing she really loved about her father, the siblings she'd been blessed with. maxima ruqayyah greybackrhys alexander greyback@jamie

December 22, 2025 Max went to the door to answer it for Rhys when the doorbell rang, and she was thrilled to see that Juliet was there. It was even less often that they got the opportunity to see each other, between Max's school schedule and limited availability and Juliet's occasionally rocky health. She looked to be doing well enough, though she remained relatively quiet. "Hey," Juliet greeted them, seeming almost uncertain as she entered Rhys's flat. "Thanks for having me. It means a lot." "Hey, Jules. It's good to see you," Max smiled, trying to reassure Juliet that she wasn't being a bother to them but not wanting to overwhelm her in case she was keeping quiet because she wasn't feeling too well. She was family. Dysfunctional and definitely not traditional though the Greybacks might have been, they were still siblings. "Are Jamie and Dahlia still coming?" Glancing to Rhys, Max looked back at Juliet. "Dahlia's out of the country at the moment," she explained to her, sort of disappointed that Dahlia hadn't been able to come. She had yet to spend much time with all of them, either. "And I think Jamie should be here?" Max added. "She might have had to work late or something. I don't know." She didn't think that the apothecary would have been stuck with as much of a holiday rush as some of the other businesses in Diagon Alley, but at least Rhys's flat wouldn't be very far if Jamie could still fit some hot chocolate into her schedule. "Are you alright? Would you like to sit?" Max checked with Juliet, motioning to the chairs that Rhys had been readjusting at the table. She didn't want her to have to stand around if it would be more comfortable for her not to. "Rhys and I were just getting everything ready. We've got some food and stuff, too."@juliet rhys alexander greyback @jamie

now these towns they all know our name Family was something that was always incredibly important to Rhys. It was something he held onto close, though deep down, some might say it was out of some fear of being alone. He grew up in particular conditions, and since it had been almost his entire life, he hadn’t recognized that a void existed, constant loneliness until he had met Jamie. Right after graduation, Rhys had ended up in St. Mungo’s after a particularly nasty full moon. He remembered the panic he felt since he didn’t want Gringotts to decide they didn’t want him or thought that a werewolf was some kind of liability. The Aurors had already rejected him. He didn’t need this career to do the same. While there, he had heard his name, but they weren’t talking to him. ’ Greyback’ , he’d almost reopened a magical wound that was still healing as he tried to see who it was. He’d gotten a glimpse, but it wasn’t until he was released a few days later and was able to do some digging on his own that he’d found and met Juliet right before he left for training.
And he was happy. It had been an awkward meeting, but they were both quieter personalities, and even if they didn’t talk often, she was still his sister. Her medical conditions made meeting complicated, but they seemed to manage. Max answered the door and let Juliet inside. ”Hey Jules.” Rhys greeted from the dining room. Rhys has learned that there was a constant reassurance that Juliet needed, it was different from his own need for reassurance in that Rhys just didn’t expect anything of anyone, and it made that part easier. Juliet asked about their other sisters Jamie and Dahlia, and Max answered for them. When he took a step back and looked at the relationships with his siblings, he felt that he was closest to Dahlia. They worked together, so that seemed to come naturally. He was able to consistently see Max due to her school schedule and Hogsmeade visits. It was a bit more complicated with Jamie and Adrian, though he and his brother tended to bump heads much of the time. With Juliet, her medical condition made it hard to meet, but they could write.
”I hope traveling wasn’t too rough for you.” Rhys approached and smiled. People noticed his change in demeanor around his siblings, calmer and more relaxed. Some people found it uncanny as if it could be considered some new wonder of the ancient world.

It was always nice to notice that her siblings cared. They seemed to be some of the rare few people in the world that actually wanted her around. She was certain that was at least the case for Rhys, since he'd gone through a lot of trouble to seek her out after their first awkward encounter. They'd both thought they were the Greyback called out in the waiting room. Turned out it was her turn and not his. She hadn't thought too much of it, all things considered so she'd been quite surprised he'd gone through quite a bit of bother to find her after. It was one of the first times she'd felt like somebody would actually want her around, even if she still got a bit insecure about it from time to time. Noah seemed to want her around, but she was waiting for him to change his mind and just trying to enjoy every moment he gave her. He had gotten so busy of late she figured her time was starting to grow short. Max told her that Dahlia was out, after welcoming her in. Jules felt a little awkward but she was glad to be around her family. No matter how much her aunt loved her, she had never wanted to be a parent or parental figure for anybody. Jo had never missed anything she needed growing up but to say that it was a very loving house hold wouldn't have been quite accurate. She was accepted and cared for, loved as much as her aunt could manage in their situation, but it wasn't all that happy. It was just... complicated. She smiled a bit weakly as Max suggested sitting. "That would probably be smart." She muttered a bit shyly. It was difficult to admit how much energy and breath her journeys tended to cost her. She shuffled over to the seat and beamed brightly at Rhys. She really admired him, possibly because he'd been the first of her siblings she'd ever met. "Hey Rhys!" She chirped, a little less quiet than previously, but still very much a wall flower. She only ever seemed to dare anything around Noah. She looked at her siblings and nodded slightly. "Travel was as always, I guess. There was a lady on the bus that kept staring and a little kid that was snottering all over the place." While for most that wasn't really relevant the little kid had made her highly uncomfortable. The memories of last summer were still bright and clear in her mind and she was very antsy about possibly getting sick again. She'd been sick so often she was used to it, but at the same time she was terrified. Beyond terrified even. She looked at both siblings as she put her stuff down and carefully placed her bag in an out of the way corner and took a breath, adjusting to the air around her for a moment. She let out a small cough, but nothing too serious. It was rather common after going off her tank. "What's to eat? And do we have some tea?" She loved tea and she really didn't like coffee, even if she absolutely loved the smell of it. It was just too bitter for her. She grabbed her bag and put two envelopes on the table. "I designed you both a building? I know it's not much but I didn't really dare go out shopping.... There's blueprints too but I guess you two care more about the design drawings." She said with a small laugh. She'd made them moderately sized houses, things she knew they could one day afford to have built if they wanted to and also signed entirely around what she knew about their lives. This included the various stints that Rhys often had with woman. Juliet didn't approve, but a house needed to suit the person living in it, regardless of what she thought of their life style. maxima ruqayyah greyback@jamie rhys alexander greyback

December 22, 2025 Luckily, Juliet seemed to be doing well, though Max didn't particularly envy the trouble to which she had had to go to in order to get there. Apparation would probably be easier for her in the long run, Max guessed, because it would at least limit her contact with other people, but Max also knew that learning to Apparate wasn't the easiest thing in the world. Splinching probably also wouldn't be the safest thing to happen to Juliet, she supposed, so there was also that consideration.
"What's to eat? And do we have some tea?" Juliet asked them once she had seated herself and hopefully gotten more comfortable than standing around.
"We can just bring it out to you," Max offered her, since they had planned on doing that anyway. It was easy than rattling off everything. "And tea," she checked, "or hot chocolate?" Rhys, as scattered as he could be on occasion must have had tea of some sort around, too.
Just as she was about to go to help Rhys with with the food and drinks so that they could converse without going back and forth constantly, Max noticed that Juliet was pulling two envelopes from her bag. "I designed you both a building?" she explained to them. Even though she said that it wasn't much, she mentioned that she had actually done up the blueprints, too.
"That's brilliant!" Max smiled. It might not have been something that was physically a huge present—at that point, at least, as just blueprints—but Juliet had obviously put a lot of thought into it. Though she felt sure that she was at least a few years away from living anywhere other than with her mother and stepfather, Max thought that it would have been sort of cool to build a house based on blueprints her sister had gifted her for Christmas. She gave Juliet a light hug and took up her envelope, sitting down beside her at the table with the chair turned out so that she could set the envelope on her lap. "I don't want anything to spill on it," she told her; plus, she wanted to see what Juliet had imagined for her. "I, erm… I can open it now, can't I?" she confirmed, just in case Juliet wanted her to save it for Christmas itself. "I've actually got something for you, too, if you want me to get it?"

now these towns they all know our name Rhys knew of his sister's health issues and how they were a challenge. He couldn’t say he could imagine what it was like at all. At least with his affliction, he was only affected one night out of the month, with side effects varying in the days before and after. It was chronic in its own way but hardly as debilitating. Considering the age gap between them, it might have been different if she had gone to Hogwarts. Perhaps Rhys would be closer to her. His choice of lifestyle and career, though, made that challenging. Though he tried his best to visit and not be distant, some habits never left him. He was accustomed to being solitary still at times. Rhys pointed to a cupboard next to the refrigerator. Even if he didn’t drink it daily, he did have tea and other various items. A lot had been gifted to him over the years and accumulated along with whatever he brought back from traveling. Naturally, he preferred whiskey, but he wasn’t in the mood for comments on the time of day—tea for now then.
Rhys grabbed some of the food that Max had helped him get set up, nothing fancy for now but some cookies and such to go with either the tea or hot chocolate. As he was sitting down, he gave Juliet a curious look, a building? Rhys knew of her work. He’d asked her questions at times when he’d been stuck trying to read old notes for work, but the effort of designing them each something was quite a lot. ”A building?” It was quite the gift, and Rhys accepted the envelope. Even after all these years, he still was surprised at receiving gifts, but it was a reminder of family and friends. ”Thanks, Jules…” He looked at Max, and he carefully held onto his own envelope as she mentioned spilling something on it. Leave it to Rhys to be the one most likely to spill his tea. ”I have something for you as well.” He added. It was likely he wasn’t going to see her on Christmas day so they could exchange gifts here.

Juliet took a moment to just unplug herself from her devices, so to speak, before heading towards the cupboard that Rhys had pointed out. She wanted to make sure that she wasn't a burden and that she could take care of herself. The place looked more than clean enough for her to manage without constantly being on the equipment she lugged around. At least she didn't think that werewolves had problems with shedding fur or something. She really didn't know all that much about them, despite having so many werewolf siblings. She didn't want to ask them about possibly painful details. Considering how much stigma was still around the affliction she didn't want to open any old wounds. She grabbed herself a plate of small snacks and her beloved cup of tea and sat back down again, She was glad to see her siblings at the very least seemed to like the idea of her little gift. She smiled a little shyly as they looked at the envelopes in obvious interest. She was glad the idea at least seemed to appeal to them, although she hoped she'd done them justice. She chuckled as Max mentioned spilling things on it and being allowed to open it. "Yeah go ahead. I mean, I won't be here for Christmas itself so it would be nice to know if I got the designs right. I really hope I did." She bit her lip slightly, still insecure about her skills as an architect. The firm where she worked hadn't had her work on a lot of buildings yet, although they did try to get her to design as much as possible since her health didn't exactly allow her most of the normal intern tasks to begin with. I helped a lot. At the mention her sibligns gave of gifts for her she blinked, almost as if in confusion. Wait, they had their gifts with them here? She didn't really expect gifts at all, even if she usually got a few each year. Her parents at least never bothered to send her gifts. It took her a second before she smiled, also feeling a little silly. It made sense Rhys had whatever it was here, since he lived here. Maybe Max brought it because she wanted to see her reaction when she opened it? It made sense. She smiled and nodded quietly. "Yeah, if you don't mind I'd like to see them." She said, her voice soft and happy. She took a sip of her tea and then smiled at the siblings again. "But please do give honest feedback on the buildings. It should help me get better at my job too, which is a gift in and of itself." rhys alexander greyback@maxime @jamie

December 22, 2025 Even though Max knew that either one of her or Rhys would have been happy to get Juliet some snacks and something to drink, she went and got some things and sat back down as they were preparing to open their presents from her. Max was glad that Juliet had given her permission to open hers. She didn't know about Rhys, but a blueprint was one of the more unique gifts that she had ever received.
More than anything, Juliet seemed surprised that they also had things to give her. Max sometimes forgot that her half-siblings' upbringings had all been so incredibly different from one another and that she was a bit of an outlier for having had a relatively "normal" one, all things considered. It had taken her some getting used to, but she was glad to see that Juliet was smiling. If they didn't mind, she said, she'd love to see their presents for her, and Max nodded. Juliet also asked for them to give her their honest feedback on the buildings she'd designed for them, since it would also help her to improve at her job.
Not really familiar with the technical side of things, it all looked good to Max, at least. "It looks really nice, Jules," she encouraged her, sincere in her compliment of Juliet's work. "I mean, I don't know anything about blueprints, really, or how expensive it would be to build it, but…" It wasn't too extravagant or anything, either, which was definitely her preference. She couldn't picture herself living in some huge castle large enough to rival Hogwarts. "If I were a client and not your sister, I'd still be really impressed by it."

now these towns they all know our name Receiving gifts still sometimes felt foreign to Rhys. Just as when he had received the basket from Vasilia a couple days before and had been quite surprised by it. Then again, she had seemed rather surprised when he had given her a gift as well. A blueprint was a very unique gift, and Rhys was intrigued. He wondered what his sister thought he might like in a place of his own that wasn’t his flat. Still, his mind wandered to the Seer he had seen and what she had said about him having children. Was this a precursor to that? A home big enough for all that? Rhys shook the thought for now. The fact was that he couldn’t find the courage to even tell his sisters about the first one. While Juliet grabbed her tea Rhys fought the urge to pour himself a glass of whiskey. Surely he had the willpower to at least wait until his younger sisters had left.
Rhys didn’t have any experience with architecture in terms of the training that Juliet had. Still, he was reminded of maps he had at work and discussions about the styles of tombs of different periods or just determining how safe a cave was to enter and explore. ”This is great, Jules.” Rhys responded as he inspected the plans. There was an art to these things, it seemed. Not an area that Rhys was strong in, preferring his history books and facts. The only creativity he needed was finding ways to remove curses from objects at the bank. ”Thank you.” He gave her a genuine smile. Rhys stood from his seat and walked over to the living room where his bookshelf was. Carefully he placed the plans on his desk so he wouldn’t spill anything on them, he retrieved a small wrapped gift he had left there. Naturally, Rhys had looked for items while he worked and had found a book on Incan architecture and magic during his last job in the area.
Sitting down, he placed the gift in front of Juliet. ”This is for you.” Since Rhys was likely seeing Max on Christmas Day, he would wait to give her gift then along with Dahlia if she was back from her job by then, but it was rare for all of them to see one another on the same day in any case, let alone Christmas.

Max was precious in how kind she was when she received the blueprints and despite not having any knowledge she didn't seem to have missed the mark in the idea of the house. Juliet knew houses could get expensive to build but well, it was the idea that counted there, right? She watched as Rhys too studied his blueprint, seemingly taking in a very different approach as his eyes scanned the blueprints. She figured his profession could give him a very different outlook on blueprints of buildings than she had, considering he probably usually had escape routes to consider. It was an interesting thought that she hadn't fully considered while building it. "I didn't include basements, since those are a lot easier to add later if either of you would need one for whatever reason. Alcohol storage or whatever else happens in dungeons. I haven't really been to many." She admitted with a shrug. They always sounded a little spooky so she wasn't tempted to seek any out either. Rhys moved the plans to his desk and then brought over a small wrapped parcel that was for her. Juliet hesitantly bit her lip for a moment, turning it around in her hands carefully before unwrapping it, as if tearing the paper would be a crime. One by one she carefully undid the tape that stuck the paper together and neatly folded it away, her eyes twinkling in utter delight as she noticed the book. Rather than tossing the wrapping paper aside she took a moment to at least fold it a little so it would fit fit into the paper bin without taking up too much space and then her full attention was on the book. She turned it over in her hands, her excitement barely contained at such a gem of a book. Incan architecture! She loved the idea of seeing some of the sights he did in pictures but with the addition of it being specialised to explain how it impacted her field of work and passions. "Rhys...." She muttered after a moment. "This is amazing! Thank you so much! I'm itching to read it and see if I can apply any of it to my future designs." She said, her eyes slightly dreamy as she opened the book for a short moment, leafing through it. Then she quickly closed it and put her hand on the cover so she wouldn't waste the precious time with her siblings pouring over a book that would be availble plenty of time after she had been separated from them again. "This is going to be the best Christmas in years." She said with a bit of a shy giggle. Family and gifts! What more could she wish for? Well, except for the obvious.... maxima ruqayyah greybackrhys alexander greyback
