3 JANUARY 2026 Christmas Holiday was coming to an end, and things were practically perfect for the young Svendsen. And yet, she felt empty on the inside. There was something amiss in her life, something that she had to cut ties with. Was it a person? A place? A hobby? She wasn't sure, not even as she sat in her bed, eyes gazing around as she took everything in. And then she saw it...a picture on her nightstand of herself and Landon. And for some reason, she felt it, in the pit of her stomach, that feeling she wanted to rid herself of. There was no doubt in her mind that her summer fling, the one-holiday stand, had gone on too long. If it had been someone else, she would have dropped it entirely the moment she woke up for her train ride back to Hogwarts for her final term. And yet, here she was, months later with the same guy she had shagged over the Summer. Was she weak? Was there a reason that she was holding onto Landon with all her might? She felt it within, a weakness that she had to cut out. Grabbing her phone, she texted him, asking to meet up. He was quick to reply, and she fluttered out the door, her head held high. The trip to the location that they had settled on was long, at least, in her mind, it had been. The entire trip over, she had thought long and hard about what she felt. Was this fluttering in her chest going to kill her? She swallowed deeply. She couldn't be weak; there was no room for it in her life. And Landon? He made her weak. When she arrived, he was already there, a huge grin on his face appearing once she came into view. His mouth opened to speak, and her hand flew up, signaling him to stop, to stay silent. His confusion was warranted, and she swallowed once more, shaking her head towards him. "I can't do this anymore..." she started, gaining a frown from the male before her, prompting her to continue, pointing her fingers towards him and then herself, "This...Us." He shook his head, explaining that he had no clue what she was talking about. And she laughed, "I have this feeling in my gut, and that feeling is rooted in you...so...I have to cut it off. Cut you off. You were supposed to be a Summer Fling; that's what we agreed on. And yet, here we are, months later...in the new year, still together. I'm done, Landon. I'm sorry if you wanted more from this, from me...but this is it. Goodbye." And with those words, Sofia turned on her heels, leaving Landon behind, calling her name. No tears fell; they never would, not even when she returned home to her bedroom. For the first time in months, Sofia could breath again.
