love'll die and lovers fade but you still remain there If there was ever a topic that had been drilled into Ana’s existence by both her mother and her brothers, it had been trust. If she was being honest, it had gotten to the point where she had barely trusted her own family at one point. But That phase had been brief, not that it meant she was going to divulge all her secrets to her brothers anytime soon. If there was one that she would never doubt, it was Cas, even if Ana got the discreet sense that it wasn’t reciprocated fully. With Astrid, it had taken time, but in hindsight, there was always a strong will to her best friend that Ana admired and resonated with, and despite her instinct to doubt, she learned not to. Deep down, it made her feel less alone in this world to have someone reliable around.
Even this thing or whatever was budding between her and Petri, it was exciting in a way. Ana was no stranger to dating as such, though her purpose in dating had been more to satisfy her won desires and needs. Thankfully the majority of her partners had been seeking the same, and it became mutually beneficial. But Petri was intriguing. He had an innocence to him but also a kind nature, and not to mention, he was very nice to look at. Astrid was correct about the icy shields, but Ana liked to think it was more to protect the world from them. She smirked. ”Yes, and who knew Druid men could be so easy on the eyes.” If Astrid’s Kal was anything like Petri, she wouldn’t be the least bit surprised.
Astrid brewed more tea, and they switched to the topic of ‘training’. Ana paused before answering, not letting her expression waver as she’d been taught. After all, she was a lady. ”Not yet, but he has invited me to dinner.”

Though Astrid and Ana were a rather uncouth pair, though they worked well together. From completely different backgrounds, they moulded together from disdain and distrust of everyone else. With a chuckle, she shifted into a more comfortable position. "I know. I hear there's even an enclave up in northern Finland - I wonder how different their way of life is from the Hy-Brasilic druids. And even more so, how much of their culture was shifted from early Viking invasions," mused Astrid. She was from Sweden and though Ana hadn't grown up in Scandinavia, their school had been located in the lands of the Vikings. As a youth, Astrid had long been interested in the tales of the Norse, of stories of gods and serpents and giants. They inspired beautiful music.
Astrid looked down at her hands, feeling an all too familiar hum in her blood. The memory of the songs written for the gods, for Odin and Freya and Frigg sparked the magic that resided deep within her bones. A faint bluish glow emanated in Astrid's hands, and she did nothing. She had never said anything about her strange powers, nor had she shared it with anyone but Kal. Astrid gripped her hands together, glancing at Ana to see if she had noticed. "Will you go then? To dinner?" asked Astrid in a hushed tone. She wasn't sure why she felt the need to keep her silence regarding her cryomancy, especially since Ana was the closest thing she had to family. Astrid's parents and siblings had all but renounced her, and only the occasional letter from her younger sister was welcomed. She sighed deeply, holding out her hands to her friend.
"Have you... have you ever heard of a person who can manipulate the elements? Without a wand?" asked Astrid, her blue eyes meeting brown, searching for answers.

love'll die and lovers fade but you still remain there Ana raised her eyebrows slightly in surprise. ”Really?” Druid culture was not something Ana had ever familiarized herself with outside of what most people might know. Her visits to the Island and time with the High Druid had added to that knowledge but not by nearly enough. The history of it all was fascinating. Naturally, Ana had all that knowledge drilled into her brain as a young girl, though from some perspective of how great their family and other Pureblood families were. ”I spent some time with the High Druid just after we visited the Island. She was…interesting.” So young and yet formidable in her own way.
There was a pause, but it was more for dramatic effect. ”I think I will.” Ana drank more tea before setting her cup back down. She worked long hours, and a social life was not her priority outside of the few very close friends she had. It tended to limit her options. ”There’s something about him. Plus…” She trailed off. ” It's either that or conveniently bump into Lupin at the Leaky Cauldron.” With that, she rolled her eyes. That was purely a matter of convenience and, thankfully, nothing more. Really they did not get along much more than that. But with that she set her intentions in her mind.
Ana thought about the question. It felt random, but Astrid would not have asked it without a good reason. ”I have. Why do you ask?” Veela's could manipulate fire, but typically elemental magic was done through spells.

Upon the consummation of her relationship with Kal, Astrid had taken it upon herself to research druids more fully. By his surname alone, Astrid was fairly certain that Kal hailed from the northern Finland tribe of druids. She wondered aloud how long ago the initial druids had moved out of Hy-Brasil and if by effect, their culture was more closely tied to that of the vikings or old Norse folklore. It was worth investigating, considering how much information there seemed to be. Even if this information was mainly based in folklore. "Yeah, she's quite young, isn't she? Apparently druids don't place much importance on age, only capability of performance."
Ana revealed that she had been invited to this hunky druid's house for dinner and Astrid's eyes widened to the size of saucers. With a pause that seemed more to be for dramatic effect than consideration, Ana confirmed that she would go. Astrid's face split into a grin. "Good. You can tell me if gingers are ginger all over, if you know what I mean," said Astrid with a giggle, her cheeks flushing scarlet. Such a scandalous comment was so unlike her, but it felt good to let loose and just be a young, silly girl in love for once.
Astrid sobered as her mind turned to what had kept her from being that young, silly girl in love for so long. Her family had renounced her, and she had been afraid that no one would accept her for her strange powers. She took Ana's hand, catching her gaze with a serious look. Relief swept through Astrid as Ana confirmed that she had heard of people who could manipulate the elements. "I can do it too," she said at last, quickly as if the words were rushing out of her like a waterfall. She released one of Ana's hands and turned her palm upwards. A droplet of water solidified into ice, layers and layers quickly adding to it until a perfect sphere of ice the size of a tennis ball rested on Astrid's hand. She closed her hand, and the ball disappeared. She said nothing, but instead looked up to Ana for her reaction.
