February 5, 2026 It wasn't like Wednesday to send a text to their family group chat and then dash to no response whatsoever, not even after multiple texts sent directly to her rather than in the group chat itself. Obviously, they had things to do; they were at school, but going totally radio silent wasn't something Wednesday normally did. And especially not when it seemed like she was making a rash decision. First of all, Monday wasn't even sure if she was serious. Was she just angry? Possibly, but she would have told someone. With a school as busy as Hogwarts and as many siblings as they had, Monday didn't think that narrowing it down would be that hard.
After countless text messages to Wednesday's number went unanswered, though, Monday was more than frustrated. From what she had been able to gather, none of her other siblings had been able to get a hold of Wednesday, either, and that meant that it was panic time. The first place she thought to go was the Slytherin common room, not that she thought that she would be able to enter it. Hopefully, though, someone would take pity on her and the fact that they were most probably dealing with an emergency. She needed to know where her sister was, and—short of figuring out if Wednesday had her phone with her and if it could be traced—Monday knew that word of mouth would be the most helpful.
Luckily, there were other people in the Gryffindor common room at the time, and one of them was Brígh O'Dalaigh. Monday knew that she probably wasn't thinking clearly, either, but she didn't care. The sense of urgency that she felt was too great, not to mention how quickly her heart had begun to pound in her chest. She'd turned her phone alert sound off, just because it had started to terrify her every time she heard it. If Wednesday was really gone, she needed to know.
"Hey, uh, Brígh?" Monday called to her across the room, mentally preparing herself for the necessity of having to sprint across the castle. (Being part goblin, that wasn't something that she did often or easily.) "You're friends with Addy Slater, right?" she checked, after running through a list of people who would possibly know where Wednesday had gone. The Slytherin Quidditch team was probably her best bet, and Addy was also in their year. "Wendy sent a message to our family group chat that really has me worried, and then she hasn't replied to any of us," she explained hurriedly, "and then I've sent her like a million messages, but she hasn't replied to me, either. And I know this probably sounds crazy, but I think that maybe she left school…?"

Brígh slouched in her favourite armchair by the fire, staring blankly into its depths. She should have been finishing up her Ancient Runes essay (this term, they were focusing on Nordic runes). While that Addy sounding voice in the back of her head was berating her, Brígh simply couldn't bring herself to do it. At least it wasn't due until the start of next week... Brígh told herself it would be fine. She dug her phone out of her robes pocket, but had no missed messages. She wondered idly what Addy and Cheese were up to. Hopefully not one another. She tapped the device on her chin thoughtfully, her mind drifting this way and that.
When Monday called to her across the room, Brígh didn't hear her at first. When her friend approached her and spoke directly to her, Brígh nearly jumped out of her seat. She twisted her red hair around her finger, appraising Monday. Was she friends with Addy? In a manner of speaking. She considered Addy to be the other half of her, the gold to her copper, the calm to her storm. "Yes..." said Brígh instead of getting into it properly. When Monday explained more about why she was seeking Addy, she frowned. Brígh had never been a huge fan of Wendy, but their animosity had come to a head recently, centring on the Quidditch team and Wendy's role in it. "I doubt Addy knows," said Brígh, mentally adding that she definitely didn't care either. But there was something about the strain in Monday's voice that gave Brígh pause. "I'll text her," said Brígh after a moment.
Ads - have you seen the devil herself? Meet me in the Entrance hall in 5 x.
Brígh pocketed the device, then rose from her chair. She looked longingly at the plush depths before turning to Monday. "I've asked Addy to meet us in the entrance hall. I'm sure it's nothing really and she's just..." Well, Brígh didn't want to say being a drama queen, but she certainly was thinking it. "It will be fine. Wendy is a big girl." It took all of her self-control to keep her tone pleasant. "Let's go."

i'm aggressive, the past is over now passive seems so pathetic Addy sat in an armchair in the corner of the Slytherin Common room, and despite the bit of noise other students were making, she had found she had tuned them all out completely. She knew she shouldn’t question it too much. Quidditch Captain. It was what she had wanted, right? And despite the victory of the matter, it wasn’t how she had wanted to earn something. To be given it because she was second best and the spot abandoned by the previous owner. She had been turning the badge between her fingers since the day before with Professor Zabini had given it to her. She hadn’t pinned it to her robe yet as the other Captains did. What would they all think of her? That she wasn’t worthy? Probably. The thought hit her pride, but she brushed it off. Addy was raised to know that one could not show doubt and others wouldn’t doubt you. It was weak. Though she did care what other people thought, at least her parents seemed to think it was important.
Her phone buzzed, and she placed the badge back in her pocket and saw a text from Brígh. It was simple to meet her in the Entrance Hall but also inquired about Wendy. While there was no love lost between them, Addy hoped that Wendy found what she was looking for. She closed her book and returned the text. ’No. She isn’t here. But I’ll explain.’
Obviously, it wasn’t common knowledge that Wendy had left the school. When she’d asked Professor Zabini, he’d said that she had dropped out of Hogwarts and had little else to add afterward. She hadn’t heard anyone talk about in the Common Room yet, which was odd considering she had been a reasonably popular girl and her younger brother was also in their house. However, it wasn’t something Addy herself felt like discussing, considering it still hadn’t quite hit her that she was Captain now. The only proof of that conversation was the badge in her pocket. She exited the Common Room, with her bag slung over her shoulder—might as well go to the library afterward. And it wasn’t a long walk from the Dungeons to the Main Floor, and she waited for Brígh. Addy hadn’t yet told her about her conversation with the Professor the previous day.

February 5, 2026 Brígh confirmed that she was friends with Addy Slater, which meant that it would be that much easier for her to get in touch with someone else who was in their year and in Slytherin House. When she heard why Monday wanted—nay, needed—to know if she knew Addy, though, she was hesitant, saying that she doubted that Addy knew where Wednesday had gone. Still, she said that she would text her, which felt like the longest wait of Monday's life. She needed Brígh to text Addy, and she needed Addy to be there at her phone and capable of responding to the message as soon as she got it. If Brígh's text were to go unanswered, if they had to sit there and wait and waste precious time while Wednesday was possibly in danger… They had to get an answer.
Monday watched as Brígh sent Addy a message, which she said that she had a moment later. "I've asked Addy to meet us in the entrance hall," she explained. "I'm sure it's nothing really and she's just…"
"I know I'm probably freaking out over literally nothing, but…" Monday said aloud, trying to convince herself that it was really nothing. If it turned out to be nothing, if everything was okay, then that was good, and surely the other girls wouldn't judge her for wanting to make sure that her sister was safe. But all signs seemed to be pointing in the opposite direction.
"It will be fine. Wendy is a big girl."
Nodding her head but not thoroughly convinced that nothing had happened to her sister, Monday moved to make her way out of the common room. "Yeah," she breathed out. At least Wednesday was of age to be able to do magic outside of school, she thought to herself as she looked to Brígh.
"Let's go."
Monday wished that she could have Apparated straight to Addy Slater, but she unfortunately didn't have that luxury. She moved as quickly as she could, though, fingers anxiously tapping against the bannisters of the moving staircases every time they wouldn't go at the speed she wished that they would have. She didn't make conversation with Brígh, her mind still racing and her free hand gripping her phone. Did she have to be the one out of all of her siblings to tell their parents that Wendy was missing? Was their meet-up with Addy going to be the beginnings of a search party?
She spotted the blonde Slytherin—Addy, not her sister—soon after she and Brígh had made it downstairs. "Do you know where she is?" she blurted out immediately, not even trying to remain calm.
