Levi had been looking forward to New Year’s Eve for a number of reasons. Some of which were all tied for first places. His band was playing a gig at the Violet hound for their New Years party. It wasn’t anything crazy nor the size of a concert but it was still going to be fun and the free drinks didn’t hurt either. Next it was New Year’s Eve, a time to just have fun and party no matter what. Being in a pub for that night certainly was a bonus. Finally he had planned to meet Mavis after they were done with their set on stage. He was looking forward to all three equally, the last two went hand in hand pretty well. As they had spoken of getting drinks and jokingly seeing who would out drink who. I was sure he would win such a contest yet he had been proven wrong before by some people.
His time with Mavis had gone by so quickly for having just met the girl. They had done a number of rather cheesy Christmas things. Something both of them had obviously missed out on with both of their respected families. He hadn’t asked too much about her situation and she did the same. These fun moments didn’t need to involve digging up painful memories from their past. Instead it was about making fun memories. Each moment had been just that and made only more so by the involvement of Mavis.
They had cut down their own tree and while doing so she noticed people sledding. Mavis said she had never done such a thing as a kid. Neither had Levi so that just about settle it. Levi had decided to fix that quickly, talking one of them into lending them a sled for a bit. It was probably the highlight of his Christmas. That and decorating of the tree with Mavis back at his place. While he would have had fun on his own Mavis made it mean something a little more as he had someone to share these experiences with. Experiences neither of them had as children.
Their set at the Violet Hound wasn’t a long one a number of their songs later and they were done. Free to each enjoy the party or the rest of the New Years. He wasn’t sure what the rest of them were doing. He had plans this time so Levi wasn’t looking for a party to crash. Looking around he didn’t see Mavis. He hadn’t seen her while they were playing either. There was the small thought in the back of his mind that she couldn’t make it or just changed her mind. Levi pushed those thoughts aside and decided to get a drink while he tried to find her, making to through the crowd and ordering himself a firewhiskey. Levi continued to scan the crowd for the pretty blonde locks of hair he was looking for.

There were a lot of things that Mavis had missed out on doing the holiday inspired things while growing up. She has happy to have found someone with similar experiences. While they didn't go into them as much into their past, Levi had invited her along on his tree adventure. He had then helped her go sledding, something she had always wanted to do. Though sledding wasn't a sanctioned activity in her father's circles. Finishing that day with decorating his tree, there were lots of laughs, and she was happy to spend more time with him.
New Year's Eve was now upon them, and she had said that she would be at the venue that his band was performing. She intended to just wear the less ratted item that she had in her position, but a good friend insisted that she get dressed up. So she borrowed a nice strapless mini dress with a sweetheart neckline and some jewlery. Finally finishing with hair and make up. It wasn't a look that she would wear to a diplomatic event, but a bar on a holiday, it seemed appropriate. Right? She wasn't sure. But her friend insisted. Because of that, and the limited time they had to work with, Mavis was late. She arrived just in time to hear the last song of their set. She intended to be their earlier, but c'est la vie. Or in English, that's life.
The place was quite clouded, so after discarding her jacket she worked her way in. Trying to keep an eye on Levi, but not being too successful. He made his way to the bar, when someone stopped her, a man who seemed already quite drunk, and obviously entranced by her natural veela charm, and her looks amplified by the afore mentioned gussying up. But she was able to squeeze past him and make her way to Levi. With a wide smile, she approached, "I am so sorry I am late. But you sounded amazing" Her accent thick. She was happy to see him again.

Levi continued to scan the crowd and the heads of people while he waited on his drink. A few people came up to him and talked about their show. Something which was always a rewarding feeling. A number of the questions did get direct toward talking about Layla. His fellow band mate. It was funny to listen to the partially drunk few people attempt to try and see if she was single and where she might be. This wasn’t anything new. She was pretty and being part Veela she gained attention easily. He just brushed off their questions with vague answers till they left him alone about Layla. Levi luckily hadn’t been too wrapped up in Layla and her charms though. Preferring to think of her more like a sister or friend than anything else. He also suspected something was going on between Layla and Emrys. Whatever it was, it wasn’t exactly his business as long as it didn’t end up breaking up the band.
His drink finally arrived just as Levi felt he saw familiar blonde locks bobbing in between people in the crowd. He wasn’t totally sure it was Mavis but he had a good feeling, the crowd was just too thick to tell exactly. At least till she finally got closer and he was certain it was Mavis. She looked amazing in her dress and he suddenly felt rather under dressed in just his shirt and jeans. He didn’t like to wear too much when preforming. Between the lights and playing it got hot in stage. She smiled as she got closer and he did much the same. It hadn’t been long since they last saw each other but still. He was glad to see Mavis once more. She apologized for being late but did say that the band sounded amazing. “Thanks, we save the best songs for the last few. So depending on when you got here you got to skip just the decent ones.” Levi replied with a laugh as it wasn't exactly a lie either, he liked them all but it was good to end on a high note. To save the song they all agreed was their best for last. “You look amazing by the way, which just makes me feel out of place in such a casual clothes.”

Seeing Levi smile, only made Mavis' own smile grow, if that were possible. It had been worth it. Though she would much rather be in comfortable cloths this was a night to celebrate and have fun. He mentioned saving the best songs for last, and what she had heard was truly great. And while she couldn't watch him perform, she was sure there would be plenty of opportunities to do so in the future. She laughed "I'm sure their all great, and your playing sounded amazing." She complimented.
He complimented her on her dress and she beamed, giving a small twirl for him. "Merci! I was going to war some casual cloths, but my friend insisted..." She gave a general gesture to her appearance "Who was I to say no." She shrugged. She took a glance at his drink, she wasn't much of a drinker but the two had talked about having some sort of drinking contest. It was fun being with him, and she trusted her fully. "So," She started, moving a little closer "you want to by me a drink?" She batted her eyes, knowing that he would, and could already hearing a few other man offering to get her whatever she wanted.

Levi smiled as Mavis complimented his band, saying they sounded amazing. “Thanks, it wasn’t some big concert gig but any excuse to play is worth it.” Levi explained before holding up his firewhiskey. “The free drinks that come along with playing and bars and pubs doesn’t hurt either.” He added with a laugh, it wasn’t the bands only reason but it had been an incentive for some.
Mavis’s smile brightened even more as Levi spoke of how good she looked in her dress. Which she really did brighten up the room now that she was here. She gave a little twirl to show off before speaking in french, thanking him and giving credit to her friend for the outfit. She had wanted to go out in more casual attire but was talking into the dress by her friend. She couldn’t just say no at that point. “Well I should thank your friend if I ever meet her for the fashion advice.” Levi replied, between the twirl and Mavis’ use of French he couldn’t help but smile a little more. It wasn’t hard to notice she was gaining the attention of other men around them but Levi ignored it for the moment. "Casual clothes and paint-stained backpack are till a good look on you too though."
With a word, Mavis moved a little closer to him, a flash of the memory from when they kissed crossed his mind. He told himself a number of times in the past and once again now. That was just to hide from whoever she was trying to avoid. Still, he couldn’t help but bring the memory up once more as the distance between them closed ever slightly. She asked if he wanted to buy her a drink before acting cute and batting her eyes. The act was obviously working too and not just on him. He just chuckled for a moment, at least till a few of the other men around them started making their offers. “Obviously,” Levi replied with a smirk, getting closer and putting an arm around her. With hopes that the apparently already drunk men would get the point to leave her alone. “I’m pretty sure I saw two seats at the end of the bar with our names on it.”

Mavis had liked what she had heard of their music. It sounded great. He mentioned how it wasn't a big concert, but he loved to play. She nodded "You are getting your art out there." It was like her, out in the streets selling cartoons and what little of her art that she could sell. There was a big art show that she had gotten into, and her paintings would be previewed. Hopefully she could start selling them.
Being part veela, Mavis knew that she was attractive to most. But hearing Levi say it just made everything better. She had heard many young man, and even some older ones compliment her, but it usually meant nothing to her. She knew what they were after, and she wasn't going to play that game. Since she had left her family home, she was happy, and now was no exception. He mentioned thanking her friend and she laughed. "I will be sure to tell her that you liked it" But she brightened more when he complimented her on her normal look, which was significantly grungier than what she wore now.
Mavis liked her time with Levi, he helped her feel safe, but there seemed to be a little bit of bad boy, and rebellion in him. She thought back on their time fondly, wishing that they could spend more time. She ignored all others in the bar, some looking at her with jealousy or longing, others making crude remarks. She was good at tuning it all out, focusing on the warm tones around Levi. The lighting hit him well, his warm, happy color coming off him. He brought his arm around her, and she moved into him. She liked being close to him. He mentioned two seats at the end of the bar and she laughed, nodding "Then we should go and sit."

Mavis commented that his band was getting their art out there and Levi nodded with a smile. Another good reason they took the New Years eve at the pub. Any excuse to play in public to a crowd. Better name recognition. “That’s part of the plan I suppose. Yet being a New Year’s Eve party at a pub I can’t imagine too many people will be remembering the bands that played. Or most of the night for that matter.” Levi joked, knowing it was partly true. Most people were more interested in celebrating than what band was playing. “What about you? Anything new in the world of art?” They had spoken of Mavis’s art a few times. She was still looking to make a name for herself which was always a hard start. He had been in the same situation for awhile before getting clean and finding a stable band.
“Please do, maybe she could even give the band fashion advice. It worked out so well for you.” Levi replied partly kidding. Sure staying fashionable might be good but he didn’t want to be some costume band or have to deal with fancy get ups. Especially when he had to be on stage and play under spotlights. Her friend had done an amazing job picking out an outfit for Mavis though. She really was a sight to see but that wasn’t much different from when he had first met her or any other time they had spent together. She was just as beautiful now as she was then, the outfit only exemplification it.
Mavis didn’t seem to pay too much attention to the comments from some of the other men around them. Possibly she was just used to it. Levi wasn’t though and as much as he was worried he might come off as being possessive for whatever reason. Especially when they weren’t even together. He also didn’t want Mavis to feel uncomfortable. Levi put an arm around her as he talked about two seats further way from here. The men seemed to quiet down with his arm around Mavis. At least for the moment, there was also the added bonus of Mavis being closer to him and once again he attempt to remind himself that he was just doing this to try and get the few drunks he assumed around them to quiet down. She agreed to going to sit down and he nodded at first. “Exactly,” he replied as he started making his way toward the empty seats that were thankfully still there. “Sorry about them, after a few drinks some guy just start to think the whole world wants them.” Levi joked, or at least tried too. He really didn’t want to have to punch someone at a place they had just had a show. Mostly because of how it would look to Mavis and only slightly for what he would have to deal with from the bands manager.

Mavis laughed as Levi mentioned that there was a good chance that very few would remember who played tonight. And from what little she saw, he wasn't wrong. He asked her if there was anything new and she nodded, beaming. "WADA is having a student art show in a few days, three of my paintings are in it." It was exciting, this was her first big chance to get noticed by true patrons of art. Rather than tourists wanting a funny souvenir that they would end up throwing away. She was still struggling, but now at least she had something that she could pretend was a home. Though she would never tell Levi the conditions that she was living in. Her and Xantha barely had enough to keep their small place, the kitchen area was questionable at best, they had two old mattress on the floor, ones that Mavis had spelled clean when her muggle friend wasn't looking.
He talked about her friend giving fashion advice to his band and she laughed "I'm sure she'll love the compliment" She loved the compliments and felt like the time getting ready had been worth it, just in the look on Levi's face.
The girl was so used to comments, some chose to mask their intentions, but many chose to be much more transparent. She welcomed the mans arm around her, feeling better already. Many of the comments hushed after she moved into him, and that made her feel better. She followed the mans lead as they moved down the bar. They got to their seats and Levi apologized for the remarks and Mavis shook her head. "It is not entirely their fault." She shrugged "My mother is a Veela." She finally confessed to him.

Mavis explained that the WADA was having a student art show and three of her pieces had been chosen to be in it. Which was exciting news and Levi smiled once more. “Congratulations, should I make plans to come by and see them? I’ll be terrible at finding some deeper meaning behind the paintings besides them just looking amazing or not.” Levi asked while only partially joking. He wasn’t some art critic, he knew he didn’t know the first thing about actual art. Still he could stop by and see them for the sake of just seeing some cool looking paintings. That and supporting Mavis in her art work. “I can start practicing my deep in thought expressions. Hmmm.. oh... I see now. Stuff like that.”
As they took their seats Levi apologized for the men that had been around them. Feeling like he needed to. He had invited her out to the pub so anything that did happen he felt he had at least some responsibility for. After which she shook her said and said it wasn’t totally their fault. Revealing that her mother was actually a Veela, which would make her half Veela. Which did fit some pieces together, possibly why found himself lost in her beauty every so often. “Really? I hadn’t noticed.” Levi said with a smile, not too concerned by her confession. “Our guitarist is actually part Veela. Half or quarter... I honestly can’t remember.” Levi explained, he hadn’t noticed it much from Layla and if it was a contest, Mavis blew her out of the water when it came to appearances. As far as just enjoying being around, Mavis was starting to beat her there as well.
“Till we got the new kid the band was going for a whole all Demi-human vibe. Layla being half Veela, Emrys a vampire and I’m.. well I’m actually werewolf. Probably the least impressive of the three.” Levi didn’t like telling people he had just met not too long ago he was a werewolf but the news was already out there. Anyone who asked about the band would probably have known. He wasn’t ashamed of what he was, he just didn’t want to risk scaring Mavis away. Especially after the many Christmas memories they had made so far.

After telling Levi about her art show, she just couldn't stop smiling. He congratulated her, and mentioned going to see it. She laughed and nodded. "I would love for you to come and see. But you don't need to know what the art is about for it to be beautiful." True, art did seem more interesting when you knew the story and the meaning behind it. But just because you didn't know why the Mona Lisa was smiling, didn't mean that you couldn't appreciate the artistry of the small painting. He mentioned practicing basic responses and she laughed harder. "Just be yourself." She said, playfully patting his arm.
Telling people that she was half Veela wasn't something she did often. But she liked Levi, and felt like if anything more was going to happen, he should know. He claimed not to have noticed, but she was sure that was at least a little bit of a lie. But she appreciated the sentiment nonetheless. He also said that they had a member of his band that was like her. He then said something quite interesting. Bête Noire, his band was full of all sort of Demi-Humans. A part Veela, a vampire, and a werewolf. Confessing that he was a werewolf intrigued her. Honestly, it didn't bother her, though she was sure her diplomatic father would not approve. Her smile broadened. "I think that is quite impressive." she said, kissing him on the cheek. The more time she spent with Levi, the more connected to him she felt.

With a laugh and a nod Mavis said she would want him to come and see the art show and her art. He wouldn’t have to pretend to know what the art was about to enjoy it and find its beauty. “Are we still talking about the art or present company? I don’t know too much about you yet but you’re still beautiful.” Levi said both complimenting and playing with her words, teasing just slightly. She patted his arm and told him to just be himself and Levi laughed for a moment before smiling. “Are we sure on the being myself part? This seems like a fancy type of situation. Maybe just fifty percent of myself.” Again, he joked but was relieved to hear that he didn’t need to pretend to be someone else. He doubted Mavis would have asked for such a thing but it was still reassuring.
Revealing he was actually a werewolf was something he would have preferred to hold off on. Look for a better time, not in the middle of New Year’s Eve party. If she took the news badly it would have ruined the night for both of them. Still he couldn’t hold on to the information after she revealed she was part Veela. He didn’t even expect it. He just thought he got easily caught up in her beauty more than anyone else. Even being part Veela she would be a sight without it. Mavis commented that it was still impressive that he was a werewolf. Even compared to his bandmates. He smiled even more as she kissed his check, relieved to hear her say that. All doubt in his mind not out to rest. “Thanks, I’ll try to explain that when Layla and Emrys want to show off.” He joked, for a moment. It wasn’t exactly like werewolves had any abilities besides when a full moon was around and that wasn’t something they could control. Other Demi-humans had some blessings.
“So now I don’t have to come up with weird reasons why I can’t hang out around full moons. Which is a relief.” Levi added with a laugh before smiling. “How about them drinks finally?”

A month ago, Mavis was mostly fending for herself, relying on a few friends for temporary help. But after meeting Levi, and accompanying him through some longed for holiday traditions, she found that she wanted to be with him more and more. She didn't care if he was an art connoisseur, or not, she loved the idea of him going. She softly blushed as he complimented her again, chuckling a little. She winkled her nose and puckered her lips at his teasing. "It's just a student art show. But you can be whatever percent of yourself you want." She teased back, thickening her accent because she knows that he likes it.
She revealed herself as half-veela, and he told the girl that he was a werewolf. She didn't care, none of that mattered to her. She liked Levi for who he was. She laughed as he mentioned explaining things to his bandmates, and she could have sworn that she had heard the name Emrys from someone else. But she couldn't remember who, and it didn't matter now. She shrugged. "I don't think you have to worry about them tonight." She winked. Levi mentioned not having to come up with reasons why they couldn't see each other during the full moons and she smiled. That comment, to Mavis, meant that they would be seeing a lot more of each other. She liked that idea.
Then it came time for drinks. She nodded. "Let's do it." She smiled, looking at the bartender who was waiting for her drink with baited breath. She opened her mouth and then looked at Levi, looking a little guilty. "I don't drink much, so I don't know...." She shrugged, "much of anything. So I will drink what you order" She smiled.

Levi couldn’t decide what he enjoyed more as Mavis both reacted and replied to his compliment and mild teasing. The facial expression was cute bordering on stunning. Though her words were thick with her lovely french accent. Finally coming to terms in his mind that it was just a tie he moved on. “Okay, but I’m going to hold you to that if I end up getting kicked out.” Levi teased once more, only kidding. He wouldn’t want to embarrass Mavis at something that was very important for her. She was getting her art out there, it would deserved all the attention and wouldn’t need him goofing around and stealing any spotlight.
“No I suppose I don’t.” He replied with a laugh as Mavis said he wouldn’t have to worry about his other band mates tonight. He wasn’t exactly sure where any of them had gone after the show was finished. Levi had parted ways with them pretty quickly as he had been looking for Mavis. Chances were high they had their own New Years plans to get too. “I would like to introduce you sometime. They’re all pretty chill.” He liked his band mates, never having had too many problems with them. So introducing Mavis to people he considered his friends wasn’t much of a stretch to him.
As Mavis agreed with him about starting to get some drinks she eventually turned back to him. Explaining she wasn’t one to drink much, she didn’t know what to order. He laughed a little more than he should have for a moment. “Don’t worry about it.” He got out, he was no stranger to being the drinker of the group. Granted he had calmed down since he earlier years. He would have had to if he wanted to have a stable career. “Two wizards brews please.” Levi said toward the bartender and he was off to get their drinks. “We can start out with something sweet and not as strong. Then go from there if you want.”

Mavis could only chuckle when Levi mentioned getting kicked out. She doubted he would get kicked out of a student art show. But she also didn't doubt that Levi could find a way, if challenged. So she decided she best not. She'd hate for him to leave before seeing her works, or spending time with her. But that was later, this was now. Now, they were there to ring in the new year, and enjoy the party. She stated that he had no reason to pay much mind to his band mates, and he agreed. She gave a wide smile, happy to have his attention. "Nope." She gleefully stated. He then stated that he'd like to introduce her to them. That sounded nice. "I'd like that. If their anything like you, I'm sure they're great." Though she was curious as to what words he would use to define her. Friend? That one made most sense, they had just met, though she really liked him, and felt a connection.
Admitting her lack of experience when it came to alcoholic drinks made Levi laugh. His strong laughter made her blush brighten. Drinks cost money, and on top of that, Xantha, her sister like roommate, kept away of it due to health reasons. She hadn't had much of a desire to try by her self, and on top of that, food seemed more important than drinks anyway. But she wasn't about to tell him all of that. After getting a good laugh, Levi told her not to worry, though he seemed to still be enjoying this fact. She would have been more upset, but his expression was a good one. “Two wizards brews please.” Levi had asked the bartender. As the men left to make the drinks, the man who had ordered then turned to explain them to her. She nodded. "I am excited to try it." She didn't think that she had a strong tolerance, so she was confident Levi would "beat" her at their game, but the fun time was more important to her.

Mavis explained how she would like to meet his band mates explaining if they were anything like him they were great. Levi smiled for a moment before giving Mavis a slight nudge with his elbow. “So is that implying you think I’m great?” Levi teased for a second before laughing. Not exactly taking the notion seriously, he wasn’t one to get full of himself. Mavis was just being nice and he was just having some fun. Being around her was always a fun time, since the first time they met in horizon alley. To now and he could only see and hope that continued.
Mavis explained she was excited to try the drink. The small blush still on her cheeks from when Levi joked about her not being much of a drinker or knowing what to order. It was a beautiful sight and he highly doubted it had to do with her being part Veela. She didn’t need it to look extraordinary. “Drinking can be fun if done in the right setting. Unless you end up being one of those mopey drunks.” He teased for a moment as sometimes you never knew what type of drunk someone could be. Angry, sad, fun, reckless, and so many other different types of combinations.
