It was interesting to think about how Rhys was with other people. She knew his reputation. He was known for being sullen, brooding, moody, and very short tempered. But she'd never seen it personally. He'd never acted that way around her. There had been times when she'd seen hints of it though, where he'd been in a mood before she arrived but it had disappeared when they started talking. Almost like she brought out a different side of him. Even others had commented about it, how Rhys was different around her. Thinking back on it, that was probably what clued people into Rhys' feelings. He didn't listen to people he didn't like. As he spoke she smirked just a little. "Ilija was very busy." She answered. Of course she knew where he'd run off to. He'd told her a few weeks ago. While she couldn't assume what had transpired that night, she knew he hadn't left the party alone. "Let's just say he met someone under the mistletoe and continued the party somewhere more private." She didn't actually know if Ilija had told Rhys about dating again, but if he hadn't the cat was out of the bag. It wasn't like Ilija had told her it was a secret. Rhys would find out one way or the other eventually.
Dear god, Vasilia knew she was in serious trouble with Rhys. The way his breathless words made her heart race or skip a beat entirely. Despite the simplicity of his question and response, it stirred up all sorts of emotions. She felt both terrified and excited. Feeling both his hands around her waist only heightened the emotions. Her own arms moved to wrap around his shoulders as she kissed him back. The more they kissed like this the faster her heart raced. A part of her knew that if they didn't stop it might lead to... other activities that she did not feel anywhere near ready for. But when he kissed her like this? She just wanted to melt into his arms and have the moment last forever.

i hope that you catch me 'cause i'm already falling Rhys furrowed his brow in confusion at Vas’ words concerning her brother. Ilija hadn’t seemed busy when they were all laughing and talking together, though when Rhys had begun to get cut off by Renfri and friends, Ilija had come to his rescue with whisky. Besides seeing Deva wherever he turned and a conversation with Maria and her friend that left him heavily annoyed—spending time with his friends and colleagues had been enjoyable. Even with so many years having passed since school and those days, the dynamic felt the same. With his friends, Rhys wasn’t the brooding character he presented to the rest of the world, and he’d always maintain that he was merely himself. Really it was his own walls for the outside world and a world that he was convinced didn’t want him.
Still, his eyebrows then rose in surprise when it all seemed to click. ”Oh, did he?” Rhys had only found out the previous year about his old schoolmate and Ilija’s Hannah, but if he was seeing someone or had that night—then hopefully that meant he was healing. ”Good for him.” Rhys added with a slight smile. All Rhys ever wanted was his friends to be happy, and while Rhys had lost a friend, Ilija had lost so much more. Now that he grew closer to Vas in this budding relationship, such a concept clicked more for Rhys. But for the moment, he was happy being physically close to her as well. Rhys liked the way she felt against him, and as she moved her arms, he moved forward, so she was leaning against the counter. But the longer they kissed, the more his hands began to move up slightly. Fingers teasing just under the edge of her shirt as he touched her skin. She was bringing out that side of him, the side that was anything but calm.

While there were still many details missing regarding Ilija's new dating life Vasilia could make some strong guesses as to what had happened the first night. You didn't leave a party with a strange unless you planned on doing some very specific... activities. Despite her own very lacking experience in that regard she wasn't stupid. She owned a pub after all. She saw that exact thing happen almost every single night. And though she wouldn't bring it up, she'd seen Rhys do it a number of times. "He didn't exactly say it that way, but I'm not blind," she answered, smiling a little. At least Ilija seemed happy with the new relationship. Which was honestly all that mattered. Ilija letting himself be happy for once. God knew he needed it.
This was definitely more then kissing now. He'd taken a step forward until he had her leaning against the counter again, trapping her between it and him. It was exhilarating, feeling his body against hers, his lips against her own, and feeling his hands move... Vasilia had kissed a few people before now, sure, but never anything serious that went anywhere. It had been more for the sake of the experience. Right now though? She wanted to keep kissing him and go even further. There was a new wave of excitement and fear when she felt his fingers brush the skin under her shirt. And it was then she knew that... if she didn't say something now it would escalate to a point of no stopping. Vasilia, as much as she wanted to continue... knew in that moment that she wasn't ready for that step.
So, with quite a bit of reluctance, she broke the kissing. She didn't pull, or push him away though, instead forcing herself to meet his stormy gaze. God, she wanted to just kiss him again and not say anything, but if she didn't say it now then she'd never work up the courage. "Rhys.... I haven't...." she stopped, trying to think of how to word this that didn't sound so... embarrassing. Though her embarrassment was becoming very obvious as her cheeks turned even more rosy. "I haven't... been with anyone... like this." Her voice grew quieter and quieter as she spoke. Would he pull away and decide he didn't want to be with someone so inexperienced? Would he laugh at he for it? She knew it was just her own insecurities that were making her think that but it was still very much a fear she had.

i hope that you catch me 'cause i'm already falling Rhys chuckled, there was no doubt in his mind as to what Ilija got up to that night when he left the party. But, knowing that fact, he didn’t even mind that he had left without saying anything. ”Well, in any case—he deserves some happiness. He’s been through a lot.” Rhys again still couldn’t imagine that type of pain and heartache or how one kept going from that—especially since Eeva had appeared in all their lives. All those years that had passed and Rhys had missed his friends, at least Ilija was back, but he would never see Hannah again either. ”I wonder if Renfri knows...” Rhys mused out loud. He figured not, or she might have mentioned something to Rhys somehow, even if to check on Ilija to see how he was doing.
This part was never difficult, the physical things. The one thing that only seemed to matter was some kind of connection, whether it was an attraction and strong physical chemistry or even on an emotional level. Slowly Rhys’ brain had begun to fill with that familiar fog—the lustful type, and all he could think about was how she felt against him and how she felt under his hands. But this time, Vasilia pulled back, though just barely, and he used that opportunity to catch his breath, but then she spoke. Her eyes looked at his own as he processed what she was telling him, the flush in her face not because of him and their earlier activities. Vasilia hadn’t been with anyone like this? Rhys blinked a few times in confusion before he had a realization. Oh. Like this. OH. Suddenly the fog cleared from his brain. ”Erm—really?” He asked quietly before he could stop himself. That hadn’t been what he wanted to say, but he cleared his throat. ”Sorry—I didn’t know.”
While Rhys was never known to be a master of the spoken word, he really hadn’t expected this, and while his heart rate was returning back to normal now, he didn’t pull away. What she was telling him now was something important. Rhys realized that, and especially with how fast he had just been going, he was glad she had said something. He took a small step back but only, so they weren’t so pressed up against one another and the counter, and he knew what he wanted to say but wanted to make sure it didn’t come out wrong (as most of the things he spoke did). ”It’s okay.” He said as he looked back down at her with a soft expression, both their faces still flush. ”I uh—don’t want to push you into anything you’re not ready for.” Rhys added. Despite his lifestyle and usual habits--that was all with women who understood what they were doing and wanted to do it. Suddenly he felt sixteen again, talking to someone as equally inexperienced as he had been at that time. This time was different.
It was certainly something different for him. Rhys reached up and put his hand on her cheek, and he kissed her forehead. It was never something that occurred to him, not because it didn’t happen, but he figured Vas had boyfriends in the past. Her easy-going nature and friendliness made her easy to talk to and get along with. There was only a twinge of guilt at feeling like he may have pushed her too far already, but she hadn’t indicated that. And considering his own conception, it was something Rhys had always been careful about—he wasn’t his father. ”I’m sorry if I—uh—you know…went too far.” He gave her an apologetic look.

Vasilia felt extremely embarrassed by her admittance. That somehow she'd made it to 21 without ever having slept with someone. It wasn't for lack of interest though! She'd kissed a few people over the years, but just... never felt a connection with anyone. Never wanted to be with them in that sort of way. Vas had never felt physically attracted to someone. At least, not enough to be interested in going further with them. But Rhys? Well... she was interested. She did want to go further. But at the same time it also scared her. Not out of lack of trust in Rhys, but more lack of trust in herself. She wasn't naïve. She knew what she wanted, but for once in her life? She did not feel confident at all. Shocker. Vasilia was a very confident person, it came from being so outgoing. A part of her (a huge part) was terrified that her severe lack of experience would be a turn off for Rhys.
So, after she spoke and waited for him to understand what she'd meant.. her cheeks kept turning redder and redder. She didn't breath as she waited for what must be inevitable, him pulling away and deciding she wasn't worth his time. After all, with all his experience why would he want to be with someone so inexperienced? His apology didn't help much, nor did that small step back he took. But his next words, saying that it was okay? Those words made her blink. It was like a switch, going from embarrassed to surprised. "Really?" she blurted out, much like he had a few moments before. And yet, as she met his eyes... she could tell it was okay. He wasn't judging her for it, nor was he pulling back. She blinked a few more times in stunned silence, before the embarrassment crept back in. "It-It's not that I don't want to. I just.." she paused. She usually didn't fumble over her words like this! But somehow Rhys had gotten very good at flustering her. She looked away, he hit the nail on the head. She wasn't ready. Not yet.
She felt his hand on her cheek and turned her head back just in time for him to lean forward and kiss her forehead. It was... sweet. Very different from a few moments ago. She smiled softly, her cheeks still quite red. Though then he was apologizing again. "Please, don't apologize! You didn't. I just... I know I'm not.... ready.. for more." Her voice grew quiet again from her embarrassment. "I didn't want to disappoint you." If she'd stopped him later it wouldn't have been as easy. She didn't want to put any false expectations out there.

i hope that you catch me 'cause i'm already falling The flush in Vasilia’s face told Rhys that this was likely a touchy subject for her. It wasn’t something that really crossed his mind about anyone he was with or seeing, but then again, the high majority of his relationships were physical in nature and just that. He remembered the talk in the boys’ dormitories about dating and girls and all that, though he’d been almost seventeen, which had been later than some of his housemates at that time. Still, he’d never had the confidence until he was older. Then, at some point between sixteen and when he was a Cursebreaker-in-training, he had gotten taller and put muscle on his slim frame, and suddenly drinks were bought for him at bars. Well, whiskey had a hand in the confidence he gained there as well. In any case, if she wasn’t ready for such activities, then he wouldn’t push her.
Rhys wasn’t known for being patient, but he wasn’t about to push someone down a path they weren’t ready to walk. But, really, Rhys was actually content just being near her. They had spent all these months talking and connecting with a bar between them most of the time. Though the rare occasion there wasn’t one, he never had an issue with personal space. Vasilia seemed surprised that he didn’t have an issue, and he didn’t know what that meant. Either she’d had a bad experience with someone before, or she thought he was that kind of guy. Both options left a strange feeling in his chest, but he didn’t focus on it for now. ”Really. It's okay.” Rhys assured her again. While he was aware she liked him, he didn’t want her to think he was one of those guys either.
He gave her a sympathetic look, his reputation did indeed precede him, and he saw the effect of that. Rhys shook his head. He wasn’t disappointed—in fact, he would have felt absolutely horrible if she hadn’t said anything, and he’d gone on the assumption she was okay with it all. ”Don’t think that—I’m glad you told me.” Surprisingly enough, with flings and physical relationships, boundaries were very important. Maria popped into mind, and their boundaries were far different than anyone he’d been with. Still, those had been set relatively early, now that he thought about it—though he was certain she would have had no problem literally setting him on fire if he crossed some line. Waiting--he was fine with. It wasn’t as if he hadn’t gone without for lengths of time before. The life of a Cursebreaker took him all over the world, and when he was working, he wasn’t focused on such things.
The last thing he wanted was to be any more like his father than he had to be. Wasn’t it enough he saw his eyes when he looked in the mirror? It was Rhys’ turn to reassure Vas for once. It was interesting to see this side of her since she was typically so easy-going and confident. Rhys had watched her deal with rowdy customers undeterred that they might have been a foot taller than her. Grinning slightly, he pulled her into a hug. Rhys liked how he felt being close to her, but only if she wanted him there. ”I promise, it's okay.” He repeated before pulling back again, but not in a retreat sort of way. Plus, he’d had wanted to spend time with her regardless, though now he was curious about her dating history but he also wasn’t keen on talking about his own.

Vasilia didn't think Rhys was the sort to push her to do something she didn't want to do. She knew he wasn't that sort of person, despite his reputation as being a "Ladies Man". He'd never do something like that to her. It just made her self conscious to... well, know he was interested in that way but deny him. To want to herself, but also not feel ready for that step at the same time. She also knew that he was more of a physical person, which wasn't a bad thing! Everyone spoke different love languages, and there was nothing wrong with any of the types.
Now though, Rhys was repeatedly reassuring her that it was okay, and that he was glad she told him. Again, not that she thought he was that sort of person, but she was surprised by how easily he took the news and completely changed course. She knew he wouldn't push her before she was ready just by how well he took it. So, when he hugged her she immediately tightened her arms around him and hugged him back, unable to stop smiling despite the embarrassing nature of the conversation. "So..." She started, realizing that a topic change might be in order. She smiled at him as he pulled back just a bit. "Guess we'll have to find something else to do."

i hope that you catch me 'cause i'm already falling It was unexpected and different. Not what Rhys was used to in terms of relationships—or the physical part rather. And he would be lying if he didn’t admit there was a part of him that wished it wasn’t like this, but he could focus on other things. But, as he looked down at her smiling face, he remembered how he felt about her. And now that he wasn’t so distracted, his mind wandered to other things. First, how to tell Sienna and Renfri they were right without them wanting it in writing that he’d ever admitted that to either of them. Then there was Ilija, Vas’ brother, and Rhys’ best friend—he still needed to talk to him. Since Ilija had known him so long and knew exactly how Rhys was, he figured it was best that Rhys made his intent clear. Rhys paused to think. He hadn’t really planned anything since her schedule had been uncertain. Rhys pulled back, slowly though, and he went over to the counter to grab the chocolate he had brought her, opening the box and holding it out to her. ”I have one idea.”
