Vasilia knew she was inexperienced, and this moment was making that even more blatantly obvious. But Rhys didn't seem to care. She could tell that he was going slower then maybe he wanted, but he wasn't going to rush her. She knew tonight would be the night. The night where it wouldn't be about words, but instead actions. Vas let out another little gasp as she felt his teeth. It wasn't hard, just a soft graze, but it almost seemed like foreshadowing of events to come.
Vas moved her arms as he pulled back. While she might have been concerned he was stopping she somehow knew what he was doing. The too tight shirt was discarding and he was bare chested again, the state that had started these events. Vas was already feeling warm, and seeing all that skin again only seemed to make the room seem even warmer. When they kissed, her hands moved to his chest, something that she hadn't really thought about doing but felt completely natural. She was surprised by how warm his skin was, but also... excited her. Because it wasn't just her. Alas, he finally pulled away and Vasilia felt cold. But the look in his eyes... her heart sputtered and she felt her cheeks flush. It was like she could read all his emotions in that look. And there was that terrified excitement again. Immediately she followed him, holding onto that hand that had taken hers and taking the moments it took to go to his room to try and calm her breathing.
Though her breathing definitely did not want to calm down, nor did the heat under her skin, or her heart beat steady. Because despite the momentary separation she knew what they were going to do. And she was nervous as hell and completely unsure of herself.

keep the secrets that you told me and your love is all you owe me Rhys liked the way her hands felt as they moved up his chest, her skin on his skin. It was like he craved it. All he wanted was just to be near her. She followed him without hesitation, and his heart beat quicker at knowing what was going to happen next. He would have been lying if he said he hadn’t thought about it at all since that day in her flat. He was a man, after all, and this was Rhys they were talking about. Rhys led her in through the doorway. All the food she had brought and the new whiskey was wholly forgotten. The fact that he was still tired from work and hadn’t had a proper meal was also forgotten because his appetite wasn’t for food at the moment.
But, he paused a moment as he looked at her. Vas’ face was flushed, as probably was his own. It was like he could sense her anxiety, it wasn’t fear, but he supposed he was only afraid of himself. All those doubts about himself, the fear he had of people thinking he was some kind of monster in any way, always came up. Rhys’ own anxiety was the fear of what it would be like if she ever saw him that way. It was an uncomfortable idea—so he tried his best to push it out of his mind and just focus on the girl in front of him. Finally, he leaned to kiss her, and he pulled her close to him while his hands played with the bottom edge of her shirt to push it up slowly, and while he worked on that, he kissed her neck again until he had to move back for the shirt to come off.
Part of him was waiting for her to stop him, and the other part was hoping she wouldn’t. By this point, he was sure or at least hoped that Vasilia knew that he loved her and wouldn’t hurt her. With the shirt off, he could kiss lower on her neck, even a few kisses near her collarbone, before returning to kiss her again, all the while scooting a bit closer to the bed. Rhys was trying not to rush, but the fog in his brain was making it hard to think, and his fingers found the button of her pants, but he fiddled with it rather than unfasten it immediately, wondering if, despite everything, she was as impatient as he was.

There wasn't going back. Once they crossed this line there was no turning around. And yet, despite knowing that, Vasilia didn't want to stop. Vasilia had never felt this way for someone, had never wanted to go this far with someone. But she did now. With Rhys. Despite the whirlwind of emotions she was feeling, that he was making her feel, she'd never been more sure of something before now. This was what she wanted. So, finally in his room she stepped close to him as he turned back to her, meeting him halfway for the next kiss. She could feel the growing desperation in him, and her own seemed to answer.
Vasilia felt his hands at the bottom of her shirt, working on moving it up, and her heart skipped a beat. But her own arms moved before she could even think, helping to bring the garment over her head and discarded it on the ground at their feet. She wasn't... Shy but it was definitely the first time she'd taken her shirt off for someone for this reason. The only other time was when she was getting her tattoos, but even then, it was different. There wasn't anything romantic in nature then. It was that moment that made her realize there was at least one tattoo that Rhys had never known about... but would be discovering very soon. And she immediately felt self conscious of what he might think. But she didn't stop.
Rhys didn't seem to waste any time, moving from her neck to her collarbone, and she didn't breath for a moment, the breath catching in her chest. She barely managed to take the breath before he was kissing her again. She moved with him, closer to the bed. He almost seemed to hesitate at her next article of clothing and she, after her own hesitation, reached out to where his hands were, helping to undo the button so that the jeans could be pushed off. If he was thinking she wanted him to stop or slow down, she hoped the action would tell him otherwise. No more waiting. Her hands moved to his waist after, her fingertips brushing the skin just above his own pants. While she'd felt emboldened to him undo her own jeans, she was still nervous.

keep the secrets that you told me and your love is all you owe me Any doubt Rhys had was taken away when she undid her jeans, encouraging him to continue. Rhys pushed down on the sides of her jeans, and he happened to look down when his eyebrows raised in surprise for a moment. Now, Vas obviously had tattoos. They were on her arms and the one on her chest as well, but he hadn’t known about this one. Still, Rhys could only see part of it because of its location, but it made him pause. Instinctively, Rhys took a small step back to get a better view, noting the other tattoo on her thigh. He wanted to say something, but words seemed to completely fail him. Also, there was something about when a woman matched her undergarments that always caught his attention and that he could only see half of the tattoo because he still had said undergarments on. Merlin it was driving him a bit crazy. Is this what she had been feeling earlier when she accused him of seducing her.
Rhys didn’t bother to hide his reaction. It was simply adding fuel to the fire. Finally, when he was able to think again, he moved back closer to her. ”I…didn’t know you had a tattoo there.” His tone was low, voice a bit gruff. ”Can I see the rest of it?” His eyes were turbulent, but only because he’d just had to stop himself from just throwing her on the bed. He could imagine if he had seen this one sooner, he would have wondered what the other half looked like all this time. Vas’ fingers grazed the skin above where his pants sat on his waist. Rhys could still sense that anxiety in her, but at the same time, it was like she was teasing him. He unbuttoned his pants and pushed them down to the floor and kicking them off and out of the way. Rhys paused before kissing her again as if just by looking at her, he could communicate that he loved her and for her to trust him. It was a quick kiss, but then he led her the rest of the way to the bed.

Vasilia knew the moment he spotted the tattoo. They'd been working on removing her jeans, and he stopped. It made her nervous for a split second, until she realized that he wasn't freezing because he didn't like. It was because he did like it. His step back to get a better view made her feel very self conscious though and her cheeks flushed. She focused on trying to remove her jeans the rest of the way while he... recovered from his discovery. And then, he finally spoke, moving closer again. His tone of voice and the look in his eyes changed, and her heart beat harder in her chest. She'd never heard seen that look in his eyes, or the heard his voice change like that. And knowing those changes were because of her? Well... It made her feel breathless and desperate. "You don't have to ask," she breathed. She wanted him to see it... and more.
And then they reached the bed...
-Fade to Black-
There was a calmness after, though Vasilia could still feel her heart racing a bit. The events that transpired were not why she'd come over, but she was.... glad things turned out this way. Unintentionally it had been the perfect moment to finally take that next step. She knew Rhys had been holding back for weeks, trying not to push her and let he set the pace. But today she'd finally trusted him in a way she'd never trusted anyone else. And to her? It had all been worth it.
Vas lay in the bed beside him, lying on her stomach and propped up just a little on one elbow while tracing the curve of his back and shoulder blades with her free hand. She'd noticed his scars earlier, but been too occupied to think to much about them. Some she could easily tell how he'd gotten them. Those she avoided due to how uncomfortable the topic of being a werewolf made him. Some of the others though... Well they reminded her of a few scars Ilija had. They must be curse breaker related. So, in the quiet after, she'd started to ask him about those scars. Her fingers traced one of the scars closer to his waist. "What about this one?" She asked softly.

keep the secrets that you told me and your love is all you owe me Rhys felt relaxed. The exhaustion of the past few days beginning to creep upon him, but overall he felt a serene calmness that was rare for him. But, the silence wasn’t awkward for them—it had stopped being awkward for them very quickly and especially because Rhys was happy with her company. Plus, they both worked an intense schedule and talking took energy. Rhys laid on his stomach, but he still looked at her—in the aftermath, her hair was a bit messed up, but she still looked just as beautiful as she did on any day to him. Vasilia wasn’t looking at him, however. Instead, asking curious questions about the scars he held (minus the obvious werewolf bite), and he closed his eyes as she ran her fingers softly over his skin. But every once in a while, he’d look after noting her soft expression--the way her eyebrow might raise up and the interest in her eyes.
Her fingers ran lower and lower until she was near his waist, though despite her soft touch, Rhys couldn’t help with but slightly twitch. It wasn’t due to pain. However, there were just certain spots that were a bit more sensitive but more ticklish than anything. Not that Rhys was ticklish. Shifting slightly so he could look to see which scar she was referring to. It wasn’t a large one, but he could remember what it was from. ”Hmm…that was Egypt.” Rhys did not like going to Egypt. He almost always came back with some new scar from a tomb there. Despite the Valley of the Kings basically being a training ground for Curse Breakers, there was never anything typical about the tombs.
”Actually—“ That particular trip had been annoying to say the least but he remembered something else. Rhys rolled onto his back and pointed to another scar on his lower right abdomen. It wasn’t the scariest looking one he had, but he’d gotten that the same day as the one she had asked about earlier. ”I got this one at the same time. Trainee wasn’t paying attention and set off a trap.” Rhys spared her the details of said trap that involved charmed sharp objects that could change direction and were cursed, naturally. Rhys didn’t mind his scars, minus those tied to more painful memories like the larger ones he had on his upper torso and the invisible ones. In a way, they reminded him of his journey and everything he had learned to make him who he was now. But, just as when Vasilia was asking him questions about himself, Rhys didn’t feel judged. And now that he was on his back, he could see her face better.

Vasilia smiled when she felt Rhys squirm just a little. It had been subtle, and she might not have noticed any other time. But with their closeness it caught her interest. Definitely something to investigate later. She moved her hand from the scar as he turned, shifting so he could look. She took the moment to brush some of her wild flaming locks from her face. "I'm sensing a trend with Egypt," she answered, as that had been his answer for a few of the other scars as well. Now that she was thinking of it.... She knew some of the places he traveled for work and it seemed like he rarely went to Egypt. Considering how many scars he had though... she didn't much blame him.
As he rolled over she shifted just a little, propping herself up on her elbows a little higher. He explained that he'd gotten a second scar at the same time, due to a trainee setting off a trap. Immediately Vasilia's eyebrows raised in curiosity. "What kind of trap?" she couldn't help but ask as she absentmindedly touched the scar he'd pointed out.

keep the secrets that you told me and your love is all you owe me Rhys nodded slightly, there was a trend with Egypt. ”Unfortunately there kind of is a trend.” It was uncanny, although Rhys liked to think there was an explanation for it all. ”It’s a common place to take trainees in their first year and after that, if they haven’t changed careers then they go wherever their trainer goes.” He explained. With the changes in ranks the past year he had been tasked with more training, however the quarantine the previous year had changed that—not that he minded. ”Its not always Egypt—this one was Peru.” Rhys pointed to higher on his torso on the same side on his ribcage. The scar wasn’t as visible, but it was there. A literal run in with falling column of stone. Considering he’d only broken some ribs, it could have been worse.
There was that curiosity in her eyes again as she asked about the trap and Rhys paused. His enthusiasm when he was younger about his work had resulted in concerned looks from his sister, and he learned he shouldn’t say everything he was doing at work. ”Uh—just some knives…traps can be set off by just entering a room or something mechanical like a floor tile.” He explained, though leaving out the parts where the knives could turn corners and how two had managed to actually stab him. With how she fretted over him, he didn’t want her to worry further. ”Its been a while since I’ve really gotten injured or anything.” Even with his back to back jobs the year his brother died, the injuries had been manageable.
All the years and experience had sharpened his instincts for his work and he hoped to avoid gaining another more serious looking scar, he had enough of those. Hoping she wouldn’t ask for more details he put his hand on hers on his stomach but gently grabbing it too. ”We never tried that whiskey.” He noted. ”But we can just stay here too.”

Vasilia thought. While she knew Rhys had worked in Egypt a lot, she felt like most of his jobs since they met in the fall were.. well anywhere but Egypt. There had been one, but the vast majority of them weren't. Was that also a trend? Well, considering how he seemed to have a habit of getting hurt in Egypt she sort of liked the fact that he hadn't been working there much. "You make it sound like a lot of trainees drop out," she answered. Though, considering the things she knew about Curse breakers, she didn't much blame them. It took a certain type of person to be successful in the career. Though, he pointed one out that wasn't Egypt, and she reached out, lightly brushing the scar with her finger tips. She hadn't even noticed it at first, but she could vaguely feel it.
She could practically feel his hesitation. It was particularly hard to hide that sort of body language when you were... well, quite naked. It made her smile. Not because he was hesitating, but because it was cute how it was hesitating to tell her something dangerous. She folded her arms in front of her and lay her chin on them, staring up at him as he explained. "So sort of like in The Mummy. You know, shooting out of the wall, or ceiling." She only realized after speaking that some witches and wizards weren't nearly as well versed in Muggle films as she was. "Oh, it's a Muggle movie. About... well, I guess probably the closest thing to Curse Breakers Muggles have. They accidentally resurrect an ancient Egyptian sorcerer. Lots of pyramids. Flesh eating scarabs. Really creep mummies."
Vasilia rolled over on to back. Her head was propped up against his shoulder as she held out her left arm, the one that had most her tattoos and pointed to the most heavily tattooed section between her elbow and wrist. While difficult to see against the tattoos, there were burns. "Kitchen fire. I knocked over a pot of boiling oil. If you've never had an oil burn, believe me, they hurt." Then, she moved her arm so her hands were next to each other in the air. There were numerous small, faint scars on her fingers. "I also have a tendency to cut myself with knives. I may have just as many scars on my hands as you have on your chest," she teased.
She'd let her hand drop back to rest on his chest when she felt him shift just a little so his own hand was on hers. That was when he reminded her of the whiskey. "Who says we can't do both at the same time?" Though, now that she was thinking about it she was feeling a little hungry too... No doubt Rhys was borderline ravenous. It was a good thing she brought some food, though by this point it would definitely have to be reheated.

keep the secrets that you told me and your love is all you owe me Rhys shrugged. It wasn’t a consistent statistic he could count on. Some years they had only a handful of drop-outs, and the following year would be a majority of them. But it was usually clear rather quickly who could handle the job and who could not. Even with his temper and attitude at the beginning, Rhys had shown he had a knack for this kind of work and was willing to work for it. ”A lot sign up thinking it's easy or you’ll get rich quick—that’s how it's advertised.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t anything he or his colleagues could fix. ”And its not a career where you want someone lazy on your team.” It was far too dangerous for that. Having a dreamy-eyed Cursebreaker watching your back led to mistakes and mistakes lead to devastating consequences.
He twitched again, tho less this time, but he tried his best to suppress it. Rhys would insist he wasn’t ticklish, but it seemed all his scars were in sensitive spots, or he just liked how her fingers felt on his skin. While many had seen his scars, at least the obvious ones, few had really stopped and asked about them. And even if they did ask, Rhys hardly would explain personal details to a one-night stand. But when she asked him, it was just Rhys sharing more of himself with her, and she made it safe to do so. But then she asked more details to which he paused. But he blinked at her. He’d heard of these movies that muggles watched that described experiences similar to his line of work—Nixie often spoke of them and this character that he couldn’t quite remember the name of. ”Oh, a coworker mentioned a movie like that with um—some guy…” Rhys’ face showed concentration as he tried to remember the name but it was gone. ”Erm—he had a hat and a whip or something. Is it the same?” Rhys had never sat down and watched these movies, but he’d been meaning to out of curiosity. But what she described wasn’t terribly far off. ”It doesn’t sound too different, but I haven’t managed to resurrect any ancient sorcerers that I know of…” Rhys really hoped so, but the knives sounded similar.
She moved onto her back and held up her arms. Rhys looked up and looked for the scars she pointed out. It wasn’t that he was surprised, but he’d never really thought about her having visible scars as he did. Then again, magic could heal most things that weren’t injuries from a curse like his. Rhys reached up and grabbed her left forearm gently and brought it closer to him, letting his fingers gently run over the scars she had talked about, looking from her forearm where it was tattooed as he moved up to her wrist and then her fingers. There were indeed many scars, some faint and some more prevalent. ”You’re clumsier than I thought.” Rhys commented, teasing back. Though he’d have to keep an eye out whenever he saw her with a knife now, or she’d lose a finger one day.
She suggested they could still try the whiskey but also stay here. Rhys liked that idea. Though for once, he almost just wanted to stay in this comfortable spot next to her than get the whiskey—a thought he never thought he’d have. But before he could think about his appetite for her and for alcohol, his stomach reminded him he hadn’t eaten all day—an appetite he couldn’t ignore anymore. ”I should probably eat something first…” The only annoyance was that he had to leave his comfortable spot. ”Hungry?” He asked, but he didn’t move immediately—instead scoping his room for his pants or any pair of pants, really since he wasn’t sure where he’d kicked his earlier pair. But he spotted some pajama bottoms that would do in the meantime laying haphazardly on his dresser next to some random t-shirts. Really his room was a mess, but what was to be expected from a bachelor pad? Finally, Rhys shifted so he could scoot off the bed and grab the pants, grabbing a shirt for Vas since her own clothing was scattered a bit as well.

Vasilia often wondered what she would have done if she'd been born a witch. If she'd had magic like her siblings. Would she had still gone down the culinary path? Or would she have been inclined to follow her brother to Curse Breaking? She'd never really asked Ilija why he'd decided to be a curse breaker, though he'd been absent in her life for quite some time. She'd never had the opportunity to ask him. Though, thinking about it? She didn't think she was the adventurous type. Sure, she'd love to travel, but she'd travel for much different reasons then Rhys or Ilija. "Wait, you're telling me you aren't rich and work is super easy? Damn," she teased, grinning and lightly poking that spot near his waist that had made him squirm a little a few moments before.
As he mentioned a movie with "that guy" an eyebrow raised. Was he talking about the actor? Because she didn't really keep track of actor names. She wouldn't be able to confirm or deny who was in it. But then he mentioned a hat and whip and she laughed. "No, that's Indiana Jones. Has Curse Breaker vibe too. You also have the Lara Croft movies." she paused, trying to think of any other moments that might have a curse breaker vibe. "I think I have some of them back at my place. We'll watch them sometime." While growing in popularity she knew tvs was still pretty uncommon among wizards. Being a squib though she, of course, had one to watch all the movies she'd seen with her muggle friends. She laughed even more when he mentioned not resurrecting ancient sorcerers.
Vasilia let him examine the scars. They weren't all that noticeable if you didn't know about them. Though they'd given her a very good reason to get several tattoos on her arm. She made a face at his comment. She wouldn't deny she didn't have a clumsy streak. "No, I just happen to work with sharp, pointy objects all day," she tried to defend herself. Most chefs cut themselves from time to time! She just... happened to cut herself a bit more often. And she never really bothered to ask anyone with magic to heal the cuts, hence why they left scars.
Rhys was very right though, they should eat. She had brought dinner after all. So, begrudgingly, she sat up, watching him slight over to the edge of the bed then slid off and start to get partially dressed. A faint blush returned to her cheeks. God, even after all that she felt bashful at the sight of him. thankfully it wasn't quite as... strong as before. He tossed her a shirt adn she had a strange dejavu moment of those romantic movies where the girl was wearing the guys' oversized shirt. She shrugged it on and glanced down, realizing that the shirt did fall to her thighs... just like in the movies. "Starving," she finally answered as she started to slide towards the edge of the bed. "We can reheat it in the oven," she explained as her feet touched the cool floor.
Today definitely hadn't gone as she'd planned... but she'd realized that she hadn't stopped smiling.
(End. <3 Cause they adorbs)
