Raphael advised her that she was better off being the one to put the butter in the cupcake batter, considering that he didn't know what to do with it. With the go-ahead from him, Penelope began to incorporate the butter into the wet ingredients for the batter, hoping that she hadn't made a mistake. The butter wasn't melted, which meant that it wasn't totally a liquid, but it also wasn't as solid as, say, flour. Some clarification in that regard would have been nice. Maybe that was something that they should have asked the kitchen elves about?
It was too late for that by the time the thought had crossed Penelope's mind, though, so she and Raphael continued to work on preparing the cupcakes, the house-elves staying out of their way and vice versa. With what felt like a massive win for the two of them, they got the cupcakes into the oven. That wasn't a guarantee that they'd turn out alright, but it was a good start.
"Maybe we should clean up a bit while we wait?" Raphael asked after grinning at the progress they had made.
"Yeah," agreed Penelope. "It's better than standing around." Cleaning up didn't sound too bad, in all honesty, since they had the ability to do it with magic. The kitchens would be back to being spotless in no time.
