Brígh snorted with laughter. "We absolutely would have been kicked out. Then Addy would be even more uptight," she said with a huge grin. There was a beat of silence as Brígh rested her head on Simon's shoulder, and he tilted his own head to rest on hers. It was a comfortable sort of arrangement, evidence of their quick and amicable relationship. She explained why she hexed Wendy, about her very existence grating on Brígh's nerves, and Simon nodded in understanding. "Good, though I'm not particularly bothered about Quidditch. More about Addy being happy and getting what she deserved," said Brígh after a moment.
Straightening, Brígh dug right in to what she believed they had to do. Simon, in his own way, understood what she was saying. How they took their fates into their own hands. "Well, I've spoken with a few others about restarting Phoenix Rising - James started it when he was in school. James Potter. And... well, he suggested that since the Order won't allow student members, we ought to do it ourselves. Learn to fight back, how to protect those that we love. And... I spoke to Madam Macmillan too. After she reamed me out for hexing Wendy. But she would be willing to help us too," said Brígh, her eyes sparking brightly. "We can't just wait around for other people to protect us. What if the Purifiers marched up tomorrow and it was just us versus them. We'd want to be able to do something right?" asked Brígh.
Their heated conversation came to an abrupt end as Brígh's belly grumbled noisily. She suggested they use the passage to Hogsmeade via the Whomping Willow passage. "There's only one way!" she exclaimed, taking Simon's proffered hand and leaping to her feet. "Come on then," said Brígh, pulling Simon along in her wake as she streaked off towards the tree. She stopped abruptly in the shadow of the bare branches, scanning the ground for a proper branch to prod the knot. She pointed her wand towards the branch and it spun in the air, finally pressing firmly on the knot in the trunk. The tree froze. "Dunno how long it lasts," said Brígh, leading Simon through the gap in the roots. The passage was uncomfortably tight and the air musty, as if a breeze had never been through. "We'll have to crawl," said Brígh over her shoulder, leading the way through the dirt passage.
What seemed like hours passed as the pair passed through the passage, only the odd comment breaking the silence. Finally, it started to slop upwards, and finally they emerged into a room that looked like it had been ransacked. Brígh looked around, her nose wrinkled. "Bit dirty in here, isn't it. Wonder what it's used for now," said Brígh glancing sideways at Simon.

Early February, 2026
Simon cocked his head to the side when she said that she was more worried about Addy being happy and not the politics of the game. He nodded, "You're truly a gem of a friend, Brigh." he told her with a chuckle, offering her a smile. "Lionhearted would be an understatement." Simon felt he was a good friend but his integrity had been tested too much his seventh year. Maybe he was a good friend in general, only not to Nate, considering he was plotting to take his girl.
The half vamp listened with interest as Brigh spoke about her anxieties involving the Purifiers as they started to get ready to head for the aggressive tree. ”Yeah, we wouldn't be prepared at all." he agreed thoughtfully, allowing her words to sink in as a stoned chuckle slipped passed his lips. That wasn't something he thought about, ever. Fuck, that was dark. Honestly, Simon wasn't the type of person to worry about something until it was presented in front of him. In that case, it would be too late. Since Brigh seemed to truly care about the cause, it made him care. ”I have quidditch practice but if it doesn’t interfere with that I can get involved, or help you however you may need it.” he offered as she sprang to her feet.
Brigh led them to the Whomping Willow as their typical friendly banter flowed naturally. He stopped to look up at the tree cautiously when she twisted the branch back, "Alright, well, ladies first…” he gestured with a chuckle, throwing himself on the ground and following her lead through the dark, musty passages. In that moment he couldn’t help the feeling of claustrophobia sinking in, but he would push through to look tough for Brigh. After some time, and a sloping passageway, they finally reached a room that was completely ransacked. It didn’t seem like a place they were supposed to be which made it all that more exciting. She wondered what the room was used for and he didn't hesitate to answer. "Probably storing bodies.." he stated sarcastically, eyes scanning the room curiously. "Where are we now exactly?" he asked the redhead with amusement.
Suddenly his eyes widened when he looked at Brigh because a large spider was crawling up her arm toward her shoulder. ”Spider!" he exclaimed in an involuntary high pitched tone, swatting at her in an embarrassing girlish frenzy. He felt like he had them on his back just by looking at her.

Blushing, Brígh bent her head forward so that her auburn hair swung in front of her face. "You're too kind, Svendsen," said Brígh quickly, before straightening. She pitched her idea of Phoenix Rising to Simon, who was all for it so long as it didn't interfere with Quidditch. She rolled her eyes. "Quidditch! It's like there's nothing more important in the world," she muttered under her breath. "Yes yes, Addy said the same thing," said Brígh, this time a bit more loudly. Her eyes glimmered with excitement. "It's a deal then. I'll let you know when we arrange a first meeting," said Brígh happily.
Their banter flowed naturally as the pair made their way to the willow, and through the tunnel that lay hidden beneath it. After what seemed like hours, they finally emerged on the other side. Brígh looked around curiously, taking note of the thick layer of dust that covered everything like a blanket. "I reckon we're in the shrieking shack," said Brígh slowly, lighting her wand and holding it up to look around. She glanced over at Simon, and was surprised to see his face white with terror. Jumping, she looked down at her arm where an overlarge spider slowly crawled up her arm, looking as menacing as possible. With a squeak, she brushed her arm and flung the spider off her with more force than really necessary. She watched as it skittered away up the wall into a crack in the ceiling moulding. "Blimey," said Brígh, clutching her chest to slow her hear rate.
"Didn't know vampires were afraid of spiders," said Brígh, a devilish grin curling on her lips as she appraised Simon. "Come on, let's not waste any more time." Shifting her wand, the shaft of light fell upon a boarded up window. She pointed her wand at the window, muttered "Deprimo" and a huge blast shattered the window and a significant amount of wall surrounding it. She bit her lip nervously. "Bollocks, that was more than I was expecting," she said, mostly to herself. She took Simon's hand and led him from the shack, turning back only to magically repair the wall the best she could. It was still ramshackle, but that was the whole vibe, was it not? "Reckon we should have changed first, but we're here now," said Brígh with a shrug. She gazed out at the village, her eyes pausing briefly on the MWRC. Aidan would be there - her heart fluttered as she stamped down the desire to ditch Simon and flounce off to hang out with Aidan. What would he think of her in this state though? Probably nothing good. She forced her gaze away, bringing it back to Simon. "Three Broomsticks? Reckon a pumpkin pasty and a butterbeer would do me so well now."

Simons jaw clenched when the lioness made a cheeky comment about not knowing vampires were scared of spiders. His eyes narrowed at her, his ego slightly deflated, ”I wasn’t scared!” he denied in an unconvincing tone. Then, his eyes widened more out of embarrassment. ”I-I was caught off guard. Fuck, okay maybe I was a little scared that was embarrassing.” he said quickly as he chuckled and turned away from Brigh to shake himself off once more. Simon easily laughed his embarrassment off. He was willing to be the butt of a joke, especially if it made someone laugh. Simon watched as Brigh blasted down a major chunk of the wall of the Shrieking Shack and it made him feel a little better about his incident a few moments ago. He had to stifle his laughter with the inside of his elbow as dust clouded around them. ”Heeey, just do that during the Phoenix Rising and we’ll be good to go.” he jested playfully as he patted her on the back, unable to hide the laughter now. Brigh took his hand to lead him out of the shack and he took it willingly, knowing it was a platonic gesture. A flutter of excitement erupted inside of him at the thought of them at Hogsmeade when they weren't permitted. He loved sneaking around, but this time he knew he could get into more trouble than usual. That didn't mean he couldn't have fun still. As Brigh mentioned pumpkin pasties and butter beers he bobbed his head along, ”I’m game. Let’s go.” he agreed. ”Bet we could finagle some alcohol..” he said in a more mischievous tone as he waggled his eyebrows to see how Brigh would react. He’d possibly push his luck with alcohol if the server at The Three Broomsticks seemed cool, or was a regular who'd serve him. And more importantly, if Brigh wanted to partake. He was of age but they were adorned in school uniforms, so he knew it could potentially be risky. BRÍGH ENNIS O'DALAIGH

Brígh grinned, but said nothing more. She had long since learned that being brave didn't mean you couldn't be afraid of anything. In fact, it was more a matter of facing those fears, and overcoming them. She considered suggesting this to Simon, but bit back her retort. Instead, Brígh blasted a hole in the wall, which ended up being a lot more damaging than she had expected. "Sounds like I'd be taking after those purifiers," said Brígh. "They love blowing shit up, don't that?" she added. Brígh pulled a face. "We'll get lots of good training in protective spells. I reckon I can cast a mean protego, but we can always improve," said Brígh confidently.
Playful as always, Simon chuckled at Brígh's over excitement in creating the hole. She offered him her hand as they picked their way through the rubble and onto the barren hillside. Brígh paused only briefly to fix the damage she'd done as best as she could, before they set off towards the village. Brígh's belly rumbled in protest as they passed the entrance to the MWRC, and Brígh looked longingly down the path. She forced herself to move on, knowing Aidan would be completely baffled by her state and her bloodshot eyes. "Oh, absolutely. Both. Everything. All of it," she replied, perking up at the idea of boozing before dinner. Surely, her father would detest her for this. But Brígh didn't really care what her father thought of her now - she'd done her detention and was of age and not causing trouble to anyone. Except Simon, but he was as much trouble as she.
Though it was far from warm, Brígh shed her robes, loosened her tie and unbuttoned a few of the top buttons on her blouse. "Well, we'll just have to give it a go," she replied, grinning cheekily. "D'you reckon that cute bartender will be working? Can't you like entice him or something with your half-vampire-ness?" she asked, running her fingers through her red hair in an attempt to rumple her hair and make her look more casual. She led the way down the high street to the Three Broomsticks, and the bell tinkled as they entered. The pub wasn't hugely busy, and as Brígh had hoped, that bartender was in fact working. She elbowed Simon in the ribs, and nodded towards the man. "Do your worst."

Early February, 2026
"You never half-ass anything Brigh, that's for sure, and I admire you for that." he chuckled with a knowing nod.
As they entered The Three Broomsticks he immediately felt out of place as a student. He loosened his tie and ruffled his hair. The worst that could happen was...well, there was a lot that could happen but he wasn't thinking about that now. Brigh asked if he could entice the bartender with his part vampire-ness for alcohol and he cracked a smile, ”Eh. It’s something like that. Just pretend we're supposed to be here...I got this.” he assured her in a low voice so no one else around them could hear, figuring she probably already knew to play it cool anyways. Simon slipped into one of the barstools, expecting that Brigh would follow suit, ”Good afternoon,” he greeted the familiar bartender politely as he feigned a nonchalant smile. ”One pumpkin pasty, two butter beers, and...two firewhiskys please.” he ordered, figuring the less conversation he forced, the easier it would to get their order. Simon shoved the funds across the counter with a little extra as a bribe.
The bartender didn't seem to care or notice. They appeared more bored than anything, turning to grab the order without a second thought once Simon was finished talking. They returned with alcohol and all before walking away.
Simon turned to Brigh with a smile that was a mix of satisfied surprise, "Well, this could be dangerous..." he raised his glass of Firewhisky to cheers the redhead. The half vampire kept his voice low, since he didn't want to blow their cover by being too excited about being served alcohol. "To Lily Potters map..and trees with pimples..." Simon chuckled with a smile, "Skål!" he declared enthusiastically in Swedish to Brigh, clicking his glass against hers in victory and taking a generous gulp. Instantly the burning sensation spread across his throat and chest, offering a warm happy feeling inside.
(Skål = "Cheers")

Brígh was an old hat at sneaking around. It had only improved when Lily had been so kind as to impart the younger Gryffindor with her knowledge. Brígh knew that Addy wouldn't approve, but Brígh had never minded getting detention. It was for the greater good. Once, Eggy had complained that Brígh spent more time in detention than out - a fact which was probably actually true. But to Brígh, adventure was calling. Who was she to deny it?
Simon sidled up to the bar, casual and nonchalant as ever. The bartender didn't even take a second glance at Simon, or seem to clock that he was actually in school robes. Brígh slid into a chair and watched, stifling her smirk as the bartender passed over their order and walked away without a care. Simon delivered the drinks to their rickety table, beaming at her. Brígh grinned mischievously. "I have a sense that this night is going to spiral," said Brígh. "Sláinte," she replied, knocking down the shooter of firewhisky before moving onto sip her butterbeer. The firewhisky spread throughout her veins, lighting a proverbial fire under her skin.
"Merlin, I'll never get sick of the stuff," said Brígh, smacking her lips. "How many rounds do you reckon we can get in and still be able to walk out of here under our own steam?" asked Brígh curiously. "No matter. Someone can always carry us." With that, she sashayed up to the bar to order another round of firewhisky, fluttering her lashes and beaming at the bartender. It was no use - though she was served promptly, the bartender did not appear to care about appearances or anything like that. Perhaps it was above their pay grade. No matter. Brígh brought the drinks back to Simon and saluted him once more. "Do you know why the professors don't allow us to go to Hogsmeade whenever? I mean, we are of age. Why cage us like this?" she asked with a frown, inspecting her glass of butterbeer as she spoke.
