April 18, 2026 Blaise addressed the other man by the name "Burke", which indicated to Parvati that he was probably related to two of their colleagues in some way—probably a brother, if she had to guess from his accent alone. As much as she would have loved to stay and chat, though, it was certainly more pressing that she go and ensure that the student who had fallen was okay, particularly if it was Monday, who was in her House.
"Cheers." Parvati nodded her head quickly to both of the men so that she wasn't dashing off without a word. She wasn't trying to be rude, but she was more focused on containing that situation so that it wouldn't devolve into absolute pandemonium. The event had hardly started, though, and things were already going… maybe not poorly but certainly heading in that direction, it seemed.

April 18, 2026 Scorpius found the concept of a pizza parlor in Hogsmeade to be brilliant, especially because he knew how much his parents would have wrestled with the idea if the place had opened up when he had been in school. Fortunately, he was an adult, and he didn't have to worry (as much) about what his mother and father thought about his getting a greasy slice of whatever Jimbo Blishwick had thought to put on the menu. It was entertaining to him that it was, in fact, the same Jimbo Blishwick who ran the matchmaking business, mostly because of how obsessed the pure-blood elite were with setting up arranged marriages right and left. At the same time, he couldn't picture either of his parents chowing down on a gooey, stringy slice of pizza.
For him, though, pizza was fascinating, and he had only more recently come to realize just how much Muggles loved the stuff. Reportedly, they would put all sorts of things on pizza if given the opportunity: corn, hot dogs, shrimp! It was the quiet sort of rebellion that he craved, and he was looking forward to getting to make a pizza for himself.
The difficult part, he thought as he entered the pizza place and made his way past as an older teenager was being helped to her feet, would be deciding where to start.

▲ A meeting in a pizza parlor in the middle of this thing? Burke had to be absolutely insane to think that was a good idea to begin with, let alone not rescheduling it altogether. There was no feasible way the man would even be able to locate the person he was supposed to meet up with, as the crowd kept surging through the door with very few people leaving. Even with all his years within the Ministry, the Department of Mysteries workers still confused him at times. They were an odd bunch, and Burke was now their leader. His sisters were decent colleagues though. By now, he’d worked with the entire family. “Children are surprisingly easier to deal with than murderers, believe it or not,” Blaise commented candidly. “Same amount of cockiness in some of them though...that doesn’t seem to change at any age, it seems.”As he trailed off, he glanced back towards the front of the parlour, spotting a familiar shock of blonde hair entering. “Scorpius!” Blaise bellowed over the yell-talking, raising a hand in a wave to get his nephew’s attention. It seemed like everyone who was anyone decided to partake in the event, whether of their own free will or not, like in his case. Blishwick clearly had a way with words and advertising prowess. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Purple haze all in my brain Lately things they don't seem the same April 18, 2026 Dealing with children wasn’t something that Asher could understand or even had experience with. The most he had was dealing with his sisters when they were young due to their age gap, but even then he’d been rather young himself. ”I will take your word for it.” Asher commented, his eyes judgmentally scanning the room as he waited for Sarah. While their objective here was hardly innocent, they had the cover of their work at least. The arrogance of children was something that Asher found rather irritating, it was different among his own crowd or even his own age range at the Ministry. Some of the time, it was earned. Other times, it was not. Asher liked to think--no he knew his own arrogance was warranted.
Asher’s eyes moved to the direction that Blaise was gesturing, but he knew the name. Malfoy. Asher was familiar due to their social circle but also because Scorpius worked in the Ministry having the unfortunate task of dealing with muggle items alongside Weasley. Why they chose that profession was beyond his comprehension when the boy could have been an Auror or even worked for himself. ”It appears that Blishwick invited half the Ministry and Hogwarts today.” Asher was tempted to leave but he supposed it would be impolite to not greet young Malfoy.

April 18, 2026 "Scorpius!"
Identifying his Uncle Blaise's voice over the cacophony inside the pizza parlor wasn't all that difficult, and Scorpius looked around until he saw him. It was kind of cool to him that his uncle was there and earned him a few points, mostly because he would have thought that his uncle would have been of the same mind as his parents when it came to pizza. He made his way over to where his uncle was standing and paused when he saw that he had apparently been in conversation with Asher Burke, Head of the Department of Mysteries.
Scorpius, who had been in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement prior to switching departments alongside his current job, didn't know Asher Burke very well, though of course he recognized the man's name as being a very established pure-blood one. Keeping that in mind, Scorpius remained a little less casual than he might have otherwise, nodding to both of the older men in turn. "Uncle Blaise. Mr. Burke," he stated, holding out his hand for a handshake with the latter gentleman.

▲ Half the Ministry indeed. Now that he had the time to get a good look around, there were other familiar faces amongst the students. At first he had assumed it was purely a student event, though as the day got closer he realized it wasn’t. Why Ministry employees were so interested in pizza from the matchmaker on their day off was beyond him. Because he certainly wasn’t going to be participating today. If he wanted pizza, he could come at any point during the week or have the house elves make it for him for dinner. That’s why they were there. “You’re not paying them overtime to attend, are you?” Blaise joked. He often wondered what it would have been like to be a department head, though having that much power didn’t work well with him. There was such a thing as too much, and he felt he had reached that when he started his second stint in the Hit Department. Scorpius’s approach would hopefully lighten the mood that Burke seemed to want to bring down with his dislike of the students. Which was strange because Blaise always assumed he was the one that needed to keep people grounded and realistic. Apparently not today. “Have you two met before?” he asked as he watched his nephew extend his hand out to Burke. He sort of hoped so, as Draco and Astoria hadn’t raised their son to be a slacker. Scorpius always seemed to be on top of everything, in Blaise’s opinion. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Purple haze all in my brain Lately things they don't seem the same April 18, 2026 Scorpius approached them, though his attention was on Blaise until he got close enough. That made sense, Zabini was his uncle, after all. There was a glance from Asher to Blaise as he mentioned overtime. ”I think my department accounts for most of the overtime budget--not that the Minister has ever said anything.” It was true, most of the senior leadership above the Department Heads stayed away from the Department of Mysteries for various reasons but Asher enjoyed the autonomy. He felt more powerful than the other Heads in that way, no doubt Rivera had many hovering watching her performance and asking questions, like vultures.
Asher shook Scorpius’ hand, firm, but he expected that of a Malfoy. Due to his family not having resided in the UK the interaction with other Purebloods had been limited but still there. Though he supposed other families such as the Karkaroffs faced the same issue. ”We have, Draco introduced us some time ago.” Scorpius hadn’t been so young, but that was what happened. Just as he’d been introduced to the Karkaroffs, Selwyns, Yaxleys and everybody else that was in the circle. ”How is your work coming along, Scorpius?” Small talk, conversations about work--it was what he was supposed to do, right? Plus the more he seemed interested in the Ministry’s progressive agenda the more he kept his favor where it was important.

April 18, 2026 "Have you two met before?" Blaise asked him and Asher Burke, though Burke responded first after their handshake and explained that, yes, Draco—Scorpius's father—had been the one to introduce them.
Though he might have chosen a career path that was a little bit different from what his parents and most of high society probably would have preferred, Scorpius did care about not burning bridges to a certain extent. His job might have made him something of a "Muggle-lover", but he saw no reason to be rude to those who didn't agree with his perspective—especially not when they were the head of a department at the Ministry.
Speaking of work, Burke asked him how his was coming along.
"It's going very well, sir," Scorpius answered, nodding his head slightly. He could deal with small talk, although it always made him question how interested the other party was. "And yours?" he asked Burke in return. Of course, being Head of the Department of Mysteries, there probably wasn't very much that the man could divulge about it, but Scorpius had asked for the sake of being polite.

▲ Right. Inter-department competition was bound to pop up eventually when talking with Ministry employees. There had always been this sense of accomplishment from whatever department ended up working the most during the week or had the biggest jobs going on. Blaise had participated in that environment for decades, and while Burke seemed to scoff (not outwardly - that was the impression Blaise was getting) at the idea of taking up a career that was often looked down upon as less intellectually stimulating, his almost two years of teaching had absolutely shown that all of his experience didn’t come close to what professors dealt with sometimes. Students asked all sorts of questions that his former coworkers never dared to delve into, and certainly they had more going for them than any of the criminals he had dealt with in either of his former careers. He assumed Burke would understand that, what with two of his siblings now working at Hogwarts as well. When it came to Scorpius, Blaise had assumed correctly that Draco had already done the job himself. The Malfoy name had so much more to it than Zabini did, unsurprisingly. Blaise knew that he and his family could easily function without much of the hoopla that normally existed within pureblood families, most of their own wealth coming from outside of the UK and therefore removing them by a step or two from the generations old high society that the Malfoys were part of. He would have liked to stay longer, but a glance at his watch told him that he had idled far too long inside Blishwick’s Pizza Paradise, or whatever it was named. “Good to see you again, Burke. Scorpius, say hello to your parents for me. I unfortunately have to get back to the castle now.” Bowing his head slightly, Blaise turned around and headed towards the door of the parlour. As he tried to push his way out through the exit, another round of disgruntled words from students, he ran into another gentleman attempting to enter, who Blaise could have sworn looked familiar to him, but he wasn’t positive. He knew too many people now that he could truly never know without having a name attached to a face. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

▲ Fleeting moments of freedom away from the torments of Ondina were far and few between. This was one of them. Renard didn’t even care anymore that he was arranged to marry her. Somewhere in there they mutually benefited from their agreement. That didn’t stop him from not wanting to be locked away inside his flat during his days off. That only invited horrid teasing or the sound of involuntary lung disintegration from his fiancée. Even if he did offer to help her, she would shoot him down, so leaving was his best option. That was how he maintained his autonomy after signing a deal with the devil. Or in this case, with Jimbo Blishwick. That little book of his where they had falsely signed their names frustrated him to no end, and he had a few words for Blishwick. Renard was feeling dangerous - in the sense that he didn’t mind if he exposed the fake engagement anymore. He knew Blishwick would be at his newly opened pizza parlour, mostly because there was some sort of event being hosted there, but also because he knew the man crazed attention. Blishwick would be found today, no matter what. Squeezing his way through the entrance to the store as students steadily slung swears at him, he pushed at a larger, older man that was on his way out of the establishment. There didn’t seem to be any words from him, so Renard continued all the way inside. Before he could find Blishwick though, a different face caught his attention: Asher Burke, Head of the Department of Mysteries. Renard wasn’t interested in getting a transfer, but he couldn’t recall ever speaking to the man before. “Asher Burke, Renard Goyle,” he interjected himself into the conversation that Burke was currently having with Scorpius Malfoy. Typical. “Scorpius,” he nodded at the younger man. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Purple haze all in my brain Lately things they don't seem the same April 18, 2026 Asher nodded in response to Scorpius' answer. The department he had chosen worked with all the new devices that were being distributed in the Ministry, though it had spread throughout the magical world. While Asher himself was not averse to the devices, he disliked their muggle origins. But one needed to keep up with the pace of things. Malfoy inquired about his own work, but naturally Asher wouldn't give any details. "It's coming along nicely." All of his work seemed to be, within the Ministry and outside. Blaise began to say his goodbyes citing that he had other duties to attend to and Asher wasn't going to make him stay. "Zabini." Asher said with a nod, acknowledging his former colleague. From what Ivy and Hazel had told him, teaching would be keeping the Slytherin Head of House as busy as his former Ministry posting did.
For a moment it was only himself and Scorpius, although Asher's attention was quickly caught by another young man. But one that only looked slightly familiar to him. However, he recognized Asher. His eyes inspected the man's face once more after a name was given and now he knew why he didn't know him. "Goyle." Asher acknowledged him, he looked about Malfoy's age if he had to guess. Goyle--another name he knew but not a family he had become acquainted with as he had Malfoy and Zabini. "Can I help you with something?" Was there a reason he was being approached?

April 18, 2026 Scorpius had barely had a chance to say hello to his uncle before Blaise had excused himself and made his way out the parlor door to go back to the castle, but he understood that he still had work to do even on the weekend.
No sooner had he left than Scorpius noticed Renard Goyle's having entered. Renard was another unlikely candidate for pizza, in Scorpius's view. While he almost thought for a second that ending up in the Beast Division had somehow humbled the other young man, he was sorely mistaken. In fact, Renard abruptly interjected himself into the conversation so that he could introduce himself to Asher Burke. (Scorpius, had he not been so polite, would have asked Renard if he were hoping to transfer between departments, but he held his tongue.)
Burke took the intrusion well enough, though Scorpius supposed that he was probably accustomed to having people try to ingratiate themselves with him. It was probably tiring, though, as the way in which Burke asked if he could help Renard suggested. Hopefully, Renard would get it into his head that he'd interrupted them. If not, well, Scorpius didn't think that Renard would be ending up working in the Department of Mysteries any time soon.

▲ He knew that there were bound to be a few stiffs left in the Ministry that either didn’t know of his family or had a stick so far up their backside that they liked to play the game of old blood. Renard cared for neither, preferring to introduce himself no matter the situation to as many department heads and those in the know as he could. Ruffling a few feathers here and there was only a part of the bureaucratic process. If Burke seemed to take an issue with that, then he was a hypocrite just like the rest of them. “Just introducing myself, since there still seems to be a few...how do I put it? Holdovers from the war based on the actions of my father,” Renard explained. He thought that was a good way to put it. Scorpius was one of the lucky ones, where the power of the Malfoy name essentially gave his own father a get out of jail free card. While Gregory Goyle had avoided it as well, his father wasn’t smart enough to keep his mouth shut and his head down. And that was why he still worked in the sanitation department. “And if you ever need any assistance with ghouls, rogue werewolves, or any other nasties. I like working in the field.” He pulled out a crisp business card, his name and title in the Beast Division bolded in the sharpest font. Renard held it out for Burke. @tag ● ### ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Purple haze all in my brain Lately things they don't seem the same April 18, 2026 Asher's typical piercing gaze looked at the young man. Goyle, the elder one worked in the Ministry but didn't have the ambition that was drilled into the typical pureblood son. Though he seemed eager to prove himself otherwise through his actions. Very quickly he had physically placed himself between Asher and Scorpius to introduce himself. Not that it surprised him in the slightest, a Ministry Department Head grew accustomed to such behavior. However, out of the corner of his eye he spotted someone familiar, or he thought he did. Either way it was the perfect excuse to remove himself from the view of other 'ambitious' individuals. Still, why Goyle would bring up the War in the presence of two individuals whose names still were connected with the same area--he didn't know.
Asher took the card, feeling the new material between his fingers. These must have just gotten printed. So either Goyle was new or he'd handed out enough of these to warrant printing more. His instinct was to make a snarky remark about whether he'd come across a werewolf in the Space Chamber perhaps, but he resisted for now as he didn't have time to linger. "You'll be the first I call." His tone was as polite as he could manage, but still not very. Asher looked among the crowd, believing he had spotted who he was intending to meet. "If you'll both excuse me, I have to attend to some business." Asher looked at both the young men, nodding. "Scorpius, give my regards to Draco." Not that he particularly liked him, but connections were connections. And with that Asher walked and slowly made his way through the growing crowd.

My head's under water but I'm breathing fine April 18, 2026 Crowds. While having been raised among the pureblood society to mingle and socialize, this was different. The place was full of children, teenagers to be exact, although Ana could spot faces that she knew in the slightly less crowded places of the pizza parlor. Eating pizza was not something that she’d ever pictured herself doing, but now that she was older she supposed one needed to keep an open mind. Still, all her training told her that this many people in one place was not a good thing. Ana debated even going in but she’d arrived because of a rumor she’d heard and she wanted to check it out.
Pushing her way through the entrance where students attempted to glare at her, she took the long way around to a corner that had some standing room. The smell of the pizza was enticing, she had to admit, but she had to remain focused. In that corner, however, were already people standing. ”Malfoy.” She greeted him, he was always on her radar as she’d been taught but even as a Karkaroff she didn’t harbor any ill will toward the other Pureblood families who had ‘settled down’ compared to others. The other one she didn’t recognize immediately, though perhaps she might have seen him around the Ministry. ”And you are?”
