Summer 2023 Lee had never seen herself as a parental figure of any sort. She hadn’t been overly mature in school, and no one had ever called her an old soul. But, she loved being an older sister, and she felt a calling in that role beyond her own younger sister. Lee thought of Chrissy often, the young girl she had rescued from the Second Salemers years before. Chrissy wasn’t the first person she had saved. Not even the first child. But, she was the only child she had saved who didn’t have anyone to go home to. It got to Lee, it gave her a sense of responsibility. She decided to keep up with the younger girl, mentor her as she aged, if she could. She wanted to give her a sense of stability in some way; a sister she could always count on.
And now that Ilvermorny was on summer vacation, Lee had ample time to see Chrissy. She tried not to bug her much during school, but she wrote periodically to check in and ask how the year was going. Lee kind of liked hearing about her time at school, it was almost like reliving her own.
She picked Chrissy up from her foster family, who she always tried her best to stay on good terms with so they would let her visit, and decided to take her out for the day for a day of summer fun at the Santa Monica Pier. Sure, it was overwhelmingly filled with No-Majs, but it was pretty, and she had heard great things. She had even exchanged some money into dollars so they’d be able to enjoy it to the fullest. “well… anywhere you want to start?” she asked as they stood under the large sign, the whole pier before them.

Summer 2023
Though she had only just finished her second year at Ilvermorny and would be entering her third the following fall, Chrissy had mixed feelings about returning from school during her breaks. She liked—no, loved—being at Ilvermorny, but she didn't have much choice but to leave, especially not over the summer. The end of the year had been difficult for her, too, because of everything that she had heard about what had been happening at Hogwarts. The other wizarding school was across an ocean and in a different country, yet the news that students had been kidnapped from Hogwarts had disturbed her enough that her academic performance had taken a steep nosedive.
At least being on summer break meant that she didn't have to worry about keeping up with her schoolwork, and it also meant getting to see Lee instead of just writing letters back and forth. Lee was cool, not to mention that they had a closer relationship than she had had with any of her foster families after what she had been through. She wasn't that old; she was in her early-ish twenties, so it was like having an older sister who looked out for her. Her foster family wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but she didn't really feel like spending every waking minute with them.
Santa Monica Pier wasn't too far away, though it was far more crowded than she anticipated. Plus, Chrissy was sure that they were all No-Majes there, so she knew that she would have to be careful about what she did and said. It would be okay, though, because it was popular enough that people would hopefully keep an eye on their kids and no one would target her for being magical…
It took her a moment to get used to all the action and noise on the length of the pier in front of her and Lee, and she tried to imagine that she was just back at school. Lee asked her where she wanted to start, and Chrissy wasn't sure. "There's so much," she said at first, looking around. There were rides, games, food… She couldn't even tell everything that there was to do. "Can we get a map or something?" Chrissy wondered, thinking that that would definitely help to narrow things down.
