15 May 2026 - Early Dinner Time
Luna frowned down at the portion of potatoes before her. Sixth year was coming to an end, faster than she could have anticipated. And still, she had no backup plans to her ambition of becoming a professional quidditch player. She didn't let on her misgivings to her sisters - Luna had a nasty feeling Selene would turn it around some way to make it seem like a positive. But Luna simply wanted something of her own. She wasn't very good at most of her subjects, excelling only in hitting bludgers at her fellow students. She was the least well liked of the siblings, with sweet Phoebe always innocent and clever Selene with a witty remark. Often, if felt like Luna was pitted against her sisters, only to always lose.
Evy was nowhere to be seen, so Luna sat in silence at the table. She picked up her fork, not glancing around at the other students. She was afraid she would see Arlo and Lulu fawning over one another - that had been a painful blow when she'd confirmed they really fancied each other. Why had Arlo led her on, led her to believe that she was special? Or worse, to see Simon and Claudia together, either at each others throats or wrapped up so closely you couldn't tell where one stopped and the other began. She was alone, apart from Evy. But Evy wasn't here now.
Reluctantly, Luna speared a potato on her fork and forced herself to eat it. She had long struggled with caloric intake and body image, yet her strength had been waning as of late. She heaved a sigh and chewed purposefully, before repeating - spear, chew. Spear, chew. Her stomach revolted at the unfamiliar amount of food, and Luna stopped. She wanted to be sick. She was sick. But she found herself rather unwilling to move.
For minutes - or perhaps it was hours? - Luna sat, staring dolefully at the half eaten plate before her. She felt as if she was frozen in stasis, that she couldn't move or think or talk or do anything. She vaguely noticed a lack of movement around her, and growing shouts from the Entrance Hall. Idle thoughts slipped by, though Luna couldn't focus on one in particular. Was it getting warmer in here? Were those screams of delight or terror? Why couldn't she move?

Friday sat in a rather large chair in the headmistresses office awaiting her return. The caretaker of the school stood at the door blocking his exit, staring daggers at the young Weekly. He was a rather surly looking man that Friday never did caught or remember the name of. Friday couldn’t move from the chair, let alone move his hands without a shout from the caretaker. It would appear he hadn’t taken too kindly to the many empty class rooms of the school being filled with various colors and flavors of No-Maj brand Jell-O. Friday didn’t even bother to question how he knew it was him. He hadn’t exactly been quiet on the matter when people asked who had done it. Friday sat bored, only moving every so often just to annoy the caretaker. The headmistress was busy with something at the moment but it seemed the caretaker was happy to wait and watch Friday sit. In the future Friday would need to be more careful who he shared his pranks with. Possibly he needed a secret identity to go under and tag his future work.
Various thoughts crossed the boys mind as well as the mild worry on just how many detentions he was about to receive. He hoped it wasn’t going to be too many. Friday didn’t really want a detention every night for the rest of the school year. As time passed Friday could tell the caretaker was getting impatient. They explained they were going to leave to find the headmistress. With that the caretaker also left a very stern warning that Friday was not to leave that chair. Now it was just Friday sitting, alone, and bored.
The universe had rules. Set guidelines it followed that were always true. One such rule was that Friday Weekly should never under any circumstances be left alone in someone’s office. Friday did what he was always going to do when alone. He started touching and fiddling with as much as he could in the headmistresses office. What else was there to do and when was he ever going to be alone in her office again. His curious poking and prodding at items and books didn’t get him anywhere. It just seemed like boring professor things. That was till he found the hat. The silly hat that Hogwarts used to sort their students when they first came to Hogwarts. As well as his fellow Ilvermorny students when they came over. Taking it from its resting place Friday put it on his head, he expected it to shout Gryffindor but instead it said nothing. “Come on! You have one job, I just wanted to see if you’d change or mind.” Friday explained apparently to himself as the hat still didn’t acknowledge his existence. He proceed to remove and put on the hat a number of times. Nothing.
With the hat still atop Friday’s head, waiting for any kind of response, he continued to poke at the objects in the office. He really expected the lady who ran this school to have more interesting things. It was around now that he started to feel hungry. It was around dinner time anyway and who knew exactly when someone would show up to punish him. He might as well get punished on a full stomach. Ignoring all the warnings from the caretaker and all common sense that anyone else would have had, he left the headmistresses office. Only realizing that he had the sorting hat still on once he was down to the second floor. Someone commented on it as was walking down the stairs. Friday weight his options and in typical Friday logic he figured if he got to the great hall and ate fast enough he would get out without anyone else noticing he was missing or he had the sorting hat on.
Once in the great hall things felt off for a lack of any other word. It was quieter than normal, Friday was keen to notice these random things. Quiet wasn’t a sound, or a lack of sound actually, that he enjoyed all too often. Unless he was sneaking. It was never this quiet but there were still plenty of people here. Most just weren’t talking. Scanning the hall he didn’t immediately see any of his siblings but he could have missed them. He did find one of the Trelawney girls at the Slytherin table. He had come to enjoy the many times he had gotten them mistaken with one another. Eventually he would get it right. Friday walked down the Slytherin table. He wasn’t too worried to sit at another table but was surprised at the lack of anyone really noticing him.
Sitting next to the blonde he took a moment, “well you’re ignoring me so you must be Luna?” He asked with a laugh. “Probably not, I’ve been wrong so far.” Friday got through with a few extra laughs. “Hey, look what I snuck out of the headmistresses off-“ Friday stopped as there was a noticeable rumble coming from the castle followed by shouting from outside the great hall. “That was not me. At least I don’t think…. I didn’t have anything big planned.” Friday explained himself, hoping he hadn’t forgot about some big prank. Looking back to the Trelawney girl she hadn’t spoken yet. Actually she hadn’t even moved since he got here. “Hello? I know I pissed you off with the wrong name and all. Yet really, Ignoring me is kind of childish. That’s my thing.” The Weekly boy said with a laugh, albeit a weaker one as he wasn’t sure what was going on. Actually no one around he was moving and given the commotion outside the great hall, some people should be turning to look. He waved his hand in front of her but there was nothing. Friday poked her shoulder and with a gentle push she just kind of rocked with it. Unmoving from her set position. “This isn’t a funny trick.” Friday muttered, growing ever more concerned with what was happening.
The shouting grew every second as well as the room seemed to be heating up. “Okay really, time to start being normal again.” Friday gave the girl another still gentle but stronger push but all it did was almost make her fall from her seat. It was around this time other people had started to come in and shouting of a dragon and a fire in the upper floors of the school. Friday was passed thinking this was just some prank or bad joke. This seemed pretty real especially with this girl and seemingly others frozen in place. “Okay, I think it’s time we go. I’d ask for permission to pick you up but given the situation and you not seeming to be able to speak. I’ll take the silence as a yes.” Friday said getting up from his seat, reading himself to pick up the Trelawney girl and follow the others now leaving the great hall in mass. The sorting hat falling off his head. “Hold this.” Friday said putting the sorting hat on the girl.

Luna cursed whatever it was that made that horribly annoying Weekly boy sit next to her. He was talking at her - and she was silent as usual, but couldn't he tell that something was wrong by the fact that she wasn't giving him death glares? It was growing uncomfortably warm, and Friday was still chattering away in her ear. At long last, Friday seemed to clock that not everything was good, and she could hear the fear in his voice. She wanted to turn to him, to shake him (as if that would give him some sense) but she couldn't. He mentioned something about picking her up and Luna wanted to scream. But she had no voice - nor a choice.
People seemed to be coming back to their senses, slowly but surely. Luna could only hope this paralysis would wear off soon. Friday perched the sorting hat on her head, and a little voice in her ear said "Bee in your bonnet? Your school is being attacked by fiendfyre. Just close your eyes, there's a good lass..." It was under the direction of a magical hat, and the bizarre circumstances that it laid out, that Luna was able to close her eyes.
It was like a film waiting to play. There was a roar of sound, but her vision was not her own. She looked around from a much higher vantage point. "Confringo!" Luna shouted, but her voice was not her own - it was deeper, and most definitely masculine. She looked around and saw professor Zabini, directing his wand at her and looking most malicious. Luna wanted to shout out, to warn professor Zabini as this man doing his best to destroy the Entrance Hall was certainly a foe. "Deprimo!" shouted Luna, sending the stairs underneath the professor crumbling. "Hogwarts has fallen, Blaise," said Luna smugly. Professor Zabini shouted about his sisters and Luna felt this person's heartbeat stutter - Professor Zabini had roared a name, Burke, but Luna didn't know who she was. But her sisters... were Selene and Phoebe alright? And then she was yelling, but she was herself again, her own voice ripping from her throat as she screamed, writhing on the ground.
Abruptly, the screaming stopped and Luna sat bolt upright. Her eyes were wild as they darted around the dark grounds - somehow, they had gotten out. She was breathing heavily, terrified by what she had seen - what she and Friday had only just missed. "Weekly! Weekly, where are you?" she called out, her voice croaky from screaming. She saw him, and reached for him. "The Entrance Hall. It's been blown up by someone! And there's Fiendfyre in the castle! Find people around the grounds... get them out," said Luna, getting unsteadily to her feet. She looked from the castle to the Quidditch pitch, before sparing a final glance to Friday and sprinting off to find Selene.
