May 15, 2026 Monday felt as though she had been put in a Full Body-Bind, rooted to her seat where she sat at the Gryffindor table. She had only taken a bite of her food, and she felt fortunate that she had been able to swallow it before choking on it. She couldn't look around to see where her siblings were, but she knew that most of them must have been nearby. The conversation in the Great Hall was becoming more and more panicked by the minute, though she didn't know for how long she had actually been sitting like this. From what she could tell, however, she wasn't the only one.
She didn't know if that was supposed to make her feel better or worse about what had happened to her, although she could feel the room becoming warmer. Was it just because of how many people were packed in the Great Hall for dinner? Was her mind playing tricks on her because of the fact that she was beginning to panic? Monday knew that she couldn't change her facial expression or even wiggle her eyebrows. She couldn't even force herself off the bench.
Other people in the room seemed to notice that it was getting warmer, but they didn't seem to know what to do about the people who were effectively paralyzed. The commotion was growing quickly, but Monday couldn't get a good idea of everything that was happening at once. All she could see was straight ahead of her, and she hoped that someone would try to figure out a way to fix this. Nonverbal, wandless magic only went so far, especially when she was still a student.
Smoke. She definitely heard someone mention smoke. Fire. Monday would have swallowed but couldn't. She couldn't scream. She couldn't figure out where any of her siblings were. She didn't see them. If there were a fire at Hogwarts, then at least her goblin blood made her less likely to suffer severe burns, she thought. Evacuating even if she weren't paralyzed would have been much harder, though, and then there was also smoke inhalation…
She was going to die like this, wasn't she?

▲ Dinner after a long day outside talking to Professor Weasley about topics that could possible end up on the final exam was well welcomed. Charlie had stayed out until the sun started to set, and was running fairly late to dinner, usually trying to be there the second the food appeared. That usually meant she could get first serving and out before the crowds surged in, or sit and chat with a sibling if they arrived later. But not tonight! Dinner was well on its way by the time Charlie entered the Great Hall that evening, and she was so exhausted that she didn't even think about trying to find another Weekly. Shuffling over to the Hufflepuff table, she sat herself down near one of her roommates, the extremely rude Beauxbatons girl Madeleine Chevalier, and started to spoon various foods onto her plate absentmindedly. It was strangely quiet in the Great Hall, though that probably meant the food was exceptionally good tonight. As she lifted up a fork of lasagna towards her mouth, finally putting something into her stomach after an afternoon of animal talk, a hand came down on it, knocking it onto the table before she could take a bite. "Seriously?" she blurted out in shock as she turned to face the French girl. "I've put up with you calling me by the wrong name all year, but that was uncalled for!" Charlie really wanted to be angry, her poor lasagna half on her plate half on the front of her shirt, but Maddie was pointing at the person sitting across from them. They were frozen. Charlie stood up from the bench, almost tripping over it as she stepped backwards. Others seemed to be reacting the same way, and suddenly there were loud, panicked voices around the Great Hall and a scream about there being a fire. A silvery, semi-translucent lion bounded through the room and ended at the professor's table, confirming the yelling, and everyone that could move started to. Except that wasn't nearly as many students running as she thought should be. Maddie had run off at the mention of fire, out of the Great Hall, leaving very few standing Hufflepuffs and even less at other house tables. She quickly scanned the room as the few bodies that could move, bolted past her towards the exit or to those that were seemingly frozen in place. Monday was the first sibling her eyes fell on, still at the Gryffindor table, and Charlie immediately ran to her sister. She didn't know where the others were yet, but if the two of them could work together, they could find the rest in no time. Running around the front of the Hufflepuff table and towards Gryffindor's, she was knocked off her feet by a larger student heading in the opposite direction of her, landing hard on her back, the wind knocked out of her as she watched feet speeding by her helplessly. The agonizing seconds it took to gain her breath back and get to her feet was long enough for the entire scene inside the Great Hall to change. Professors that could move were huddling over students, and some were already starting to be lifted out. Charlie used the table end to get back to her feet, head spinning and back already throbbing. Moving as quickly as she could around the table towards where Monday had been, Charlie stopped as she finally spotted her sister sitting, still in the same place, statue-like. Just like the person across the table had been. "Mo?" Charlie groaned as she slid along the bench. "Monday? Hey? Can you hear me? Monday?" She could feel the panic start to set in as she looked at her sister's face, which didn't show any change at all. Charlie gave her a solid shake, hoping that would do something, even though everything going on right now showed that probably wouldn't work... MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 Monday was forced to remain there, looking on in horror, as she retained her awareness of what was going on around her. It was becoming even louder in the Great Hall by the second, and it was difficult for her to hear herself think. She did, however, hear Charlie's voice calling her name.
"Monday? Hey? Can you hear me? Monday?"
She couldn't do or say anything to signal to Charlie that she could hear her, but she could hear her. Not getting a response from her, Charlie took her by the shoulders and shook her. Monday wondered what it must have felt like from her sister's perspective, though at least her presence meant that not all of her siblings had ended up paralyzed like she had.
Desperately, Monday wished that she could do anything to signal that she was alive and capable of hearing her sister, though all of the noise in the room was beginning to blur into one cacophony. She supposed that she couldn't blame people for running off and attempting to save themselves. If she were capable of running, she would have been searching the Great Hall—nay, the whole castle if she had to—for her siblings to make sure that they made it out of there. She just hoped that Charlie knew her better than to think that she wouldn't have responded if she could have… and that she wouldn't give up on her.

▲ Nothing. Monday didn't speak or move or react to anything Charlie did as shook, poked, and prodded her. The smartest thing the younger Weekly did though was hold her hand underneath Monday's nose, where a faint exhale of air could be felt. She was frozen then! Charlie reached for her wand and found that it wasn't where it was supposed to be in her robe pocket, and even though she knew it wouldn't be anywhere else, she still padded herself down hurriedly. It must have been knocked loose when she fell! "D-Don't move Mo...errr...well I guess you can't, but I'll be right back. I-I think I dropped my wand when I fell. I'll get you fixed up in a moment." She felt so stupid in her anxious panic, and as she ran back to where she had fallen, she realized she could have just used Monday's wand to cast what she needed. It also didn't help that with the amount of students being levitated now, there probably wasn't a spell to fix this strange paralyzation that had happened. She didn't even know what caused it in the first place! Getting down on her hands and knees at the head of the Gryffindor table, which was now void of other people, Charlie peered under it to try and see if her wand was there. Among a few shattered plates and utensils, a slice of chocolate cake, and a pair of shoes that belonged to an unmoving Gryffindor, Charlie spotted her wand. Crawling under the table, her hand sinking into a second piece of cake she didn't see, she retrieved the fir wand and quickly backed herself out from under the table again, hitting the back of her head on the edge as she tried to stand up too fast. "Stupid!" she chastised herself as she felt the ache radiate into her head, matching the throb from her back. Now wasn't the time to be clumsy! Hurting but not willing to give up yet, she hobbled back to Monday and tried a litany of healing charms she knew, though none were seemingly strong enough to reverse whatever was going on. Not even Reparifors worker, which she was pretty sure a use for some sorts of paralysis and poisons. Either she wasn't good enough at it, or this was stronger. "Okay Mo, I'm going to uh...I'm going to levitate you out ok? Other people are doing the same, so I'm just going to follow them and hopefully we can find a professor to fix you up. Her voice cracked at the end, and she quickly cast a levitation charm, which lifted Monday up in the air in a still sitting position. It was such an odd thing to be doing, but looking around the Great Hall showed that she was at least on the right path now. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 It was awkward, but Monday could watch as Charlie checked to make sure that she was still breathing. Satisfied with the fact that she hadn't been completely turned to stone and wasn't dead, Charlie instructed her not to move. It would have been funny if not for the fact that Monday wished she could scream and take back ever having had a bite of dinner. Charlie, too, seemed to realize that she really couldn't move even if she wanted to, but she mentioned that she would be right back.
Monday couldn't tell where her sister was going, although she hoped that it was to get a professor or someone who could figure out how to reverse what had happened to her. Instead, though, Charlie said that she thought that she had dropped her wand when she had fallen, not that Monday had been able to see her fall. Was she okay?
It felt like an eternity before she could hear Charlie with relative clarity, her sister trying what seemed to be every healing spell under the sun and then some. None of them were working, and Monday's despair was deepening.
In what was probably a last-ditch effort, Charlie informed her that she was going to try to levitate her out and that other people were doing the same thing. Monday would have nodded if she could have nodded, even though she wasn't fully comfortable with the idea of having even less control over her body. At least she had sat down at the table of her own accord. She knew that she needed to get out somehow. If being levitated out by her sister did the trick, she guessed, then she would take that over dying.
She couldn't feel much of anything as Charlie levitated her into the air, though she could plainly see that her vantage point was much higher up than it had been. She was in the air, and the school was on fire. She just had to trust her sister and hope that they and everyone else made it out in one piece.

▲ Trying to concentrate on a levitation charm while people were sprinting by her and jumping over tables to escape the Great Hall all while screaming about an incoming fire was so damn hard to do. But Monday was in her care right now. She didn't even want to start thinking about what would happen if she stumbled on another frozen sibling along the way, because she knew she couldn't levitate both at the same time. Picking and choosing wasn't going to be happening today. Monday would go outside first if she couldn't recruit someone else to lift a second sibling, and then she'd return. That was the only way that was going to happen. Though if it was Sunday, she could probably drag him by his collar out if need be. Navigating other slow moving levitations and those that were paralyzed but fallen over was so difficult. Charlie blinked back the tears that were fighting to come out, a combination of the pain from her dumb injuries, the stress of the situation, and the haze of smoke that was starting to float into the Great Hall. She was already deciding to return to help others if Monday was in good hands once she got outside. These students couldn't get left behind and forgotten. Turning around the end of the Gryffindor table, Charlie quickly walked the floating Monday towards the doorway into the Entrance Hall. There was a professor standing there directing traffic out into the courtyard, though she couldn't tell who it was due to the surging crowd and growing smoke. "We're almost there I think!" she yelled at her sister, knowing that she wouldn't get a response but hoping the reassurance would help a bit. She couldn't even begin to imagine what being paralyzed and helpless right now felt like. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 Everything was getting smoky. Monday was already uncomfortable, but watching the scene unfolding from the air where she was being levitated by her sister was an experience like no other—and not in a positive way. If she could have walked, she would have risked dislocating just about everything to sprint out of there. The longer she was in the air, the more she felt sick, especially as Charlie turned to move in the direction of the courtyard.
It would have been so much easier if she could do literally anything more than exist. Even if she couldn't move her body, being able to talk would have been something. Now that she was in the air, she felt like a balloon, though she worried that Charlie might lose control over her amidst the smoke and crash her into something. The other downside was that heat rose, and it was even warmer than it had been when she had been at the table.
The chaos was devolving into pandemonium, and it was reassuring when she heard Charlie yell that they were almost there. Being out and away from the smoke would be nice, not that Monday could cough and clear her airway.

▲ The crowd was barely moving, and Charlie tried to keep a good balance between not allowing her sister to bump into anyone else, and to keep progressing towards outside. The shoves from behind her told her that students had come from further up in the castle and the dungeons, as there hadn't been that many people still standing in the Great Hall. She wanted to turn around and scream at them to help out, but the panicked and fear-stricken looks in their eyes told her that whatever they had witnessed elsewhere in the castle was worse than what she had experienced thus far. And her case was pretty shitty all around. She even ignored the foot of a levitating first or second year Slytherin girl that was bumping into the back of her head at the exact spot she had hit it on the table. That was a small price to pay if it meant that girl was being rescued too. The courtyard was so close, and she could even feel the cold evening air fighting back against the billowing smoke from the dungeons. Then she heard it. The explosive roar from somewhere deep within the castle wasn't from fire or anything else. She knew it was a dragon roar. Too much of her time had been devoted to studying the creatures and with Professor Weasley teaching here, it had been even more as of late. But this wasn't the time to gawk and stare at a creature in admiration. If there really was a dragon in the castle (how was that even possible?), then they all needed to get out now. It made so much sense though if there was a dragon and fire caused from it. She just didn't want to be anywhere near it right now, especially with the condition Monday was in. A second roar echoed down to the Entrance Hall and Charlie realized it was closer. Muttering and scared musings of what it could be quickly traveled through the crowd, which had almost stopped moving completely. The professor directing the flow of traffic had even ceased his commands, turning with the rest of them as the telltale sound of flapping wings started to come into earshot. Someone yelled Dragon! and people started pushing forward once again, some running to the sides of the doors, others back to the Great Hall. Charlie grabbed ahold of her sister by the waist, still keeping the levitation charm up, and started dragging her to the furthest corner from the front entrance. If the dragon was real and going to spew fire, they weren't going to be caught in that. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 Even though she had lived almost completely in the magical world, Monday knew what an airplane sounded like, but that noise was no airplane. It wasn't quite deafening, but it was clearly audible over the rest of the noise and screaming and shouting and Merlin knew what else.
The dragon roar sounded again. It was louder than before, though all Monday could do was trust that Charlie would continue to maintain her focus and her grip on her wand. Monday knew that her own wand was probably somewhere within her school robes, not that she could tell if it had stayed there.
Someone yelled out about the dragon's presence along with what must have been the flapping of the dragon's wings, and Monday could feel that she was being pulled sharply out of the way. At least Charlie was aware of what was happening enough not to let her have a run-in with a scorned dragon.

▲ Back towards the Great Hall Charlie went, Monday in tow, albeit slowly. Looking around her floating sister, she realized that she probably could have stayed where she was because the crowd had pushed so hard that people that had been around her had already disappeared into the courtyard. Charlie swore under her breath at that, and felt dumb because if Monday could talk right now, she probably would have been screaming to stay where they were in the crowd. That didn't mean the sound from the dragon's beating wings had dissipated though. It was still growing louder as Charlie moved past the entrance into the Great Hall again and pulled Monday behind the door frame, keeping her floating low to the ground so they could both see around the corner and into the entrance area still. There were a few people moving around in the Great Hall still, though they looked like they had heard the roars and retreated as well. "If there is a dragon, we're going under the table over there," she whispered into Monday's ear, just so that she could have context to what might happen in the next minute or so. "Theres no way I can take on something like tha-" Charlie trailed off as a flash of green shot right through the center of the Entrance Hall and out into the night, ignoring that there were giant doors in its way. The cracking of wood as they started to pull from their hinges in the frame was eerie after seeing something like that, especially considering there was very little warning the dragon was there until it wasn't. Even though she felt like she shouldn't move back out into the Entrance Hall, Charlie moved slowly back out, along with a few other brave students that had been hiding around the area. Her knees shook with each step, but with the gaining smoke and the barking orders from the professor near the entrance starting up again, she directed Monday in front of her and started to move as quickly as she could while safely pushing her sister in front of her. The orderly fashion in which everyone around her now exited was weird compared to the disorder of the crowd only a minute prior, and the silence said it all. The noises of the castle around them, of roaring flames and ricocheting spells from somewhere further above meant something was going on, but she didn't want to stick around to see. The dragon and the paralyzed people were enough for her right now. Monday's safety and escaping to outside was the goal. Even if that wasn't meant to be the end of this all, it at least got them out of the castle. The first breath of cool, late spring air was one of the best feelings, and she led her levitating sister in the direction of where adults were pointing them. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 Monday wanted to tell Charlie to put her back down if she was going to keep jerking her back and forth. Floating over a crowd of people and only being able to look in one direction meant that she was seriously disoriented, although she could tell that Charlie had brought her back into the Great Hall. With a dragon flying around, it made sense to get out of the way, but hadn't the whole point been to get out of there? Hopefully, though, the fire wasn't as severe as they thought; an adult dragon probably wouldn't be able to fit inside the castle, would it?
Charlie had moved her lower to the ground and whispered in her ear that they would go under the table if there were a dragon in there, because there was no way that she could take on something like… Her voice trailed off in shock; Monday got the idea, although she would have done the same when something green zoomed past.
With the dragon apparently gone, they went back out into the Entrance Hall. Monday couldn't figure out half of what was going on, even as they were provided verbal instructions by one of the professors, but she had to figure out how she was supposed to stay calm. From what she could tell, there seemed to be less pushing and shoving than before, possibly because people were so stunned by what they had seen. It was difficult to make sense of everything, truly, and Monday was grateful that Charlie had her back (or, well, probably a little more than that, but…).
As they moved outside, Monday wished that she could have taken a big gulp of fresh air. Even though it was still slightly smoky, it was dissipating some. It did nothing to change the fact that she couldn't communicate with her own sister at all, but she felt more comfortable. Though there was a chance that she could end up stuck in whatever state of paralysis forever, at least she could breathe more easily from a literal standpoint.

▲ It wasn’t like the panic and fear stopped the second she stepped out of the castle, but the sudden lack of confinement made the outside feel safer, even if there was a dragon somewhere out here now. That beat the billowing smoke and shaking castle walls. There was a moment of respite for Charlie as she felt the crowd open up and she could freely float her sister in front of her versus keeping her within reach in case they needed to run away again. The line that seemed to have been formed by able-bodied professors and other adults that she didn’t recognize, were pointing students along the path that led towards Hogsmeade, and she realized that this was a lot more organized than it initially seemed. There were still people running around them and screams coming from the castle, but she tried to block those out. Obviously the worry for the rest of her siblings was starting to grow in the back of her head, yet she still had to get Monday checked out first before pushing for the rest. The sound of heavy footfalls as adults ran towards the castle made her feel like everything was going to be alright. Because that was what they were there for, right? To put out the fire, catch the dragon, and make sure everyone that was paralyzed was put back the way they were supposed to be. She imagined that this was probably what would have happened at Ilvermorny had school been in session when it was also attacked. MACUSA agents showing up to help quell the damage before it got too far. At least with here it seemed like people were just frozen, and that was an easy enough fix. And anyways, it hadn’t looked like the dragon had hurt anyone as it flew out of the castle. She would have seen it had it happened. “I-I think you’re going to be fine now,” Charlie’s voice cracked as she continued levitating her sister down the pathway, the edge of Hogsmeade finally starting to appear in an unnaturally lit state. “I’ll try to find the others once you’re unfrozen, okay Mo?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 "I-I think you’re going to be fine now," Charlie said to her as Hogsmeade came into view. Monday wanted to be able to say something to her sister to reassure her of that. She was older; she was supposed to be able to do that in a scary situation, and it hurt her that she couldn't. Charlie also told her that she would try to find the rest of their siblings once she was unfrozen, and Monday wished that she could nod her head or something to signal that she heard her and that she understood.
As much as she wanted all of their siblings to be safe, she didn't want Charlie to put herself back in harm's way if it meant that she would be putting her own life at risk. Whatever was happening, it wasn't safe for her to try to go back into the castle. Monday didn't want to think about the conversations that they were probably going to have to have with their parents, too. If any of them were hurt—or worse, if they were dead—she didn't know how she would be able to cope.
Monday wanted to get to Hogsmeade; she wanted someone to do whatever they needed to do to make sure that she wouldn't be paralyzed forever, and she wanted to hug Charlie tighter than she ever had before. It was probably a good thing that she couldn't show just how terrified she was.

▲ The procession line walking towards the entrance to Hogsmeade would have seemed on a normal weekend morning, usually lit up with excited chatter and rambunctious teenagers. Tonight it was marred with dry, smoke-filled coughing fits and whimpers of her classmates. Keeping Monday held closely so as to avoid anyone running by from bumping into her levitating, frozen body, Charlie silently marched. The only words that came out of her now were words of encouragement about the distance that the two of them had until they managed to get to the wizarding town. What was normally a fairly quick walk was backed up and slow, and she was sure it was because of the Ministry already taking over inside the town. There were too many adults bolting back and forth across the grounds for it not to be them, though very few stopped to check in on her or those around the two of them. They were probably too busy to give words of encouragement right now but it wasn’t like she would disregard them if someone simply stopped and said that everything was under control. Not fine, of course, because there was nothing fine about students being paralyzed or dragons flying through the school, or even the screams about a fire. She had no way to track the time it took to shuffle from the castle to Hogsmeade, but it felt ridiculously long. Monday was still paralyzed, and those that were being transported past the line of students by Ministry workers and Mediwizards were in a similar state. Or dead. She didn’t want to be naïve about it, though needed to hear tortured whispers of the group of fifth years behind her who immediately swore on Merlin’s scraggly beard that one of them that went by was absolutely dead. How could anyone tell? And why would they make that claim in such a situation. Charlie wanted to slug each of them in her sister’s stead, because she knew Monday would definitely have words for them if she could talk right now. Arriving at Hogsmeade, finally, she understood what was taking so long. The line was being split between those that needed medical attention (who were being led towards a giant tent that blocked most of the street), and the rest were led off to a different part of town. As she approached the Ministry worker that was seemingly making the decision on who went where, Charlie made it for him and started towards where the rest of the paralyzed and hurt looking kids were going. He made an attempt to stop her, yelling after her, but she ignored him and the bottlenecked line that started spilling over in those few moments took his attention away from her. “I’m not leaving until I know you’re all set,” Charlie repeated for what had to be the hundredth time tonight. If Monday was fine, then she could at least go looking for everyone else. Keeping one of them at the medical tent and the other out looking seemed like a plan that would work… MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

May 15, 2026 Monday was glad that she hadn't ended up paralyzed with her eyes shut. Apart from the smoky air, she could see that she and Charlie were entering Hogsmeade, and she felt better about it the farther away from the castle they went. There were many more adults around than were normally at Hogwarts, and she had to assume that some of them were from the Ministry. It was difficult to tell who was responsible for what from her vantage point, but Charlie seemed to know what she was doing. Her life was still in her younger sister's hands, so she had to try to keep herself from overthinking, especially when she started to hear some of the other kids talking about death.
Physically, though, no one could see that she was the least bit concerned, not even when it sounded like somebody was yelling at Charlie because she was doing something that she technically wasn't supposed to. From what she could tell, there was some sort of triage setup, with everyone who was in her same situation being taken in the same direction. "I'm not leaving until I know you're all set," Charlie told her again. Monday appreciated it, but she was torn. She wanted to know that all of their siblings were safe, and she wished that she could do something as simple as take a look around to see if she could spot any of them around her and Charlie.
Still stuck in her state of paralysis, though, Monday hoped that the process of gaining function in basically every part of her body wouldn't be difficult. She didn't think that even the Mediwizards would have been able to anticipate treating so many people all at once. There was no way that the hospital had beds for all of them, either. How long could she stay like that, from a Healer's perspective, before she would die?
