It wasn't very often that Luka opted to sit in the little coffee shop where all the sick and injured people went. He came there on occassion when his coworkers annoyed him to the degree he wasn't in the mood to see their faces. This... happened frequently. So frequently in fact, that the people at the cafe already had his drink preferences down and knew that he never needed extra service and only stayed longer if he had some form of company that interested him enough, unless he brought paperwork. In that case it usually ended up being an endless stream of coffee until the paperwork disappeared completely. He had a few friends that were always welcome to interrupt him and by now the staff new attractive men were also allowed to disturb him, even if they regularly found themselves rejected. Luka just didn't really have much time for anybody but himself.
That day was a paperwork day. He'd brought a relatively small stack and was already down to his fourth cup of coffee since sitting down when he noticed that somebody dared take a seat at the table near him. He briefly looked up from the paperwork and saw a young man there that didn't look bad. Certainly a lot more interesting than the woman from the psyc department that kept flirting with him. Still, he wasn't in a highly talkative mood. So he grabbed paperwork and as he briefly noticed the other man looking he said in a tone that was between friendly and irritated. "Sick or visiting?" That was usually step one. Sick? He wasn't your guy. Visiting? He could possibly make polite conversation if one didn't show and utter lack of brain within the first two minutes of sitting down...

June 2026 @luka
Noah didn't really like hospitals much. Not because of bad experienced, but because he didn't like the idea of situations happening that would require one. He wasn't in for himself today though, thank god. No, his mother had has him to bring his younger siblings. They had appointments just to make sure there wasn't any smoke damage or anything like that from the fire last month. They hadn't been showing any signs, thankfully, but his mother was a cautious one. She still wanted the two to have a check up. So, he'd taken the day off work (for both jobs) to do his parents the favor. Neither of them were able to take work off to do it themselves and they hadn't liked the idea of the two going alone.
Now though, was the waiting game. The two were getting their physicals done, and he didn't really want to stick around for it. He'd been told it'd take about an hour. So, Noah had decided to head to the tea room. After getting himself a coffee (though he was slightly dreading it. He knew the hospital's coffee wouldn't be nearly as good as his own), he sat down at an open table adn pulled out his work phone. While most didn't know it, he had two separate phones. One for his personal life, and one for "Erik Esper". It was one he never answered, all calls automatically going to voice mail. But he used it for texting. The label would text him anything he needed to know. He was skimming through the latest message from Charlotta, something about trying to see if they could coordinate a collaboration with another artist if they recorded each part in separate studios on different days (he'd never done a collab with another artist) when he heard a voice. He immediately locked his phone screen and looked over to the owner of the phone.
It was an older gentleman at the neighboring table. He had a stack of papers with him and a coffee of his own. THough he looked like he'd been there a while and planned to be there even longer. It took a moment for Noah's focus to turn to what was said. "Waiting, actually," he clarified. "My siblings had an appointment."

In his experience, nobody really liked hospital, except for some of those that worked in them. Hospitals rarely meant good things, unless one counted the maternity ward and he stayed as far away from that as possible. Hormonal woman were just far too prone to fits of.. emotion. Not that Luka himself was without flaw, he had a bit of a temper. He just didn't quite enjoy being around crying babies and fussy mothers. Too much 'straight energy' if you asked him. So he understood when people didn't like hospitals.
The young man mentioned he was waiting because his siblings had an appointment. Luka raised a brow slightly as he looked at the young man. So he was just dropping them off? Or were hospital visits a family affair in his family? He could almost imagine large hordes of families just stomping around because one of them had an appointment. It sounded like a horror story to him. However, since the man himself wasn't sick or injured and thus not a patient, Luka was willing to have conversation. He wasn't bad looking either, although a bit on the young side. Probably around the same age catagory as the flirty witch from the psych ward, but a lot more attractive.
Luka briefly nodded then and made a note on one of the papers. "If you'd be interested in a conversation I can pause my work for a while. I need a break anyway and it should help both of us pass the time." He offered as he frowned. Some people had the most horrible handwriting and needed quills that made their handwriting a lot more legible. Signing off on paperwork was a drag. He put the piece he'd signed on his pile of finished paperwork and cleared the table so that the other man could join him if he wanted. If he didn't... well then what a waste of effort.
