8 July 2026 The dizziness was the first symptom she’d noticed. It hadn’t been a major event – Sienna had been leaning over a cauldron, ready to pour in her freshly cut caterpillars when a sudden wave of dizziness seized her and had her grabbing the edge of her desk for balance. But she hadn’t worried about it much, only fretted over the mess she’d made when the ingredients had spilled all over the floor. It wasn’t a big deal, because she hadn’t slept well the night before and that had to be the reason why she felt a little off that day. She hadn’t even mentioned it to Rob, because why bother worrying him about something so trivial? Several days had passed after that with no incident, until Sienna found herself twitching her fingers in irritation before moving to pick up a mortar and pestle, even rubbing her hands together to try and shake the feeling off. But there had to be a reasonable explanation for itchy fingers – maybe a slight allergy to one of the ingredients, because Merlin knows she and Rob rarely used gloves in their work. Either way, she didn’t pay it much attention. Sienna was much too busy to worry about the occasional dizzy spell or the slight twitch of her fingertips like they’d just been irritated. Aware Wolf had made amazing progress over the last months, and it had finally passed the last of the trials to receive an official certification. They were only waiting for the last of the patents to be approved before they would begin to market the potion and release it into official circulation – St. Mungo’s, the werewolf clinic, and of course their apothecary. It was an exciting time, and Sienna needed to focus one hundred percent on being present as they went from trials to roll out. After years of hard work, and hundreds of batches that had gone wrong, and dozens of werewolves that had participated in the trials – well, it would be devastating not to be there to see her own potion’s success. It was everything she'd ever wanted, even if she had never quite admitted it out-loud before, and Merlin be damned she was going to be here for it. But Si couldn’t ignore the hallucinations. Sienna had scared Heleen with her shriek when, during one of their Roommate Chill Nights, she’d noticed nifflers crawling through the open window. Except Hel was convinced that there weren’t any nifflers there, and that even if there were -- well, they certainly wouldn’t be bright purple or wearing bowties. It was the middle of the week, not the ideal time for Si to take a day off from Slug and Jigger’s, but…she was a little scared now too. She hadn’t felt sick, at least not until all the symptoms began to stack up and present her with the unavoidable fact that healthy people didn’t have itchy fingers and certainly didn’t see magical creatures everywhere they looked. So it was a Wednesday morning, and instead of going to the apothecary…well, Si shifted uncomfortably as she waited in line to see the Welcome Witch at St. Mungo’s. Explaining her symptoms to the Welcome Witch wasn’t too bad, who directed her to the second floor. ‘Probably just a magical bug, dear, they come and go,’ the witch had assured her. Si shot her a timid smile and climbed the stairs, assuring herself that everything was probably okay. As a Muggleborn, she wasn't familiar with the same magical diseases that wizards and witches who'd grown up in the magical world would be, but the Healers would probably diagnose her in a second. Explaining the symptoms to the first Healer wasn’t terrible either, but eventually he came back with a second Healer and she was forced to explain them again. She sat patiently through the first examination, and the second, but when they both disappeared for almost an hour…Merlin, now she was worried. They didn't seem to know what was wrong either. Perched on the edge of the bed, Sienna didn’t want to get too comfortable. She only needed a Healer to explain what was wrong, prescribe her a potion or two, and then let her get back to the apothecary. That couldn't be too hard...right? As someone new entered the room, a man in lime green robes she hadn’t seen yet, Sienna sighed and twisted her fingers nervously in her lap. She swiftly ignored the glittering dancing brooms in the corner, because they probably weren’t real either, and asked, “Look, you’re the third Healer I’ve seen today. I'd appreciate some honesty here. Am I dying or what?”@luka

A very large number of healers were idiots, if one were to ask Luka. Not that they did all that often, which was likely because they already kenw or suspected his thoughts. So as the day had progressed on what seemed to be a rather dull day, he'd mostly been in a good mood. Patients were getting released and cured and the latest moon had not brought any patients in. Luka loved Quiet Moons, as he personally considered them. Despite his affinity to wolves themselves and his generally amicable feelings towards all those that had gotten afflicted with lycantrophy, he knew it was not an easy life to lead. Recent development had at least seemed to be making it somewhat more bearable, which Luka considered quite a huge thing. It was growing later in the day when one of the healers in his ward had come to his office to ask him to assist on a diagnosis that they just couldn't seem to figure out. He read through the paperwork before he entered the room where his patient was, mostly noting the name up top, heaved a very deep sigh and headed in. She was quite quick to ask if she was dying and he raised an eyebrow at her. "Would you prefer to have that diagnosis based on observations or just reading off a piece of paper clearly written by incompetant healers?" He asked with a measure of sarcasm to his words. "Because from what I'm reading here, you probably are dying. Now if you don't mind some actual observations before you get a timeline it would really help narrow down the window." He said, as that was the best honesty he could manage. He tossed the clipboard rather negligently on the table before sitting on the corner of it. "So, miss Linslee, from your paperwork you seem to suffer from some hallucinations as main concern. Other possible symptoms seem to include itchy fingers and dizziness..." He stated, pausing so that she could confirm or deny it. "Any other symptoms?" He asked as he held up one hand, motioning for her to put hers in it. To him, that part was actually one of the most interesting ones. It narrowed down the suspects significantly after all, especially since he was very aware of who she was. He'd kept up with the studies on Aware Wolf with great interest after all. Sienna Aurélie Linslee

Sienna stared at the new Healer as he walked in and promptly informed her that she probably was dying. There was no sympathy or kindness to his words, only the hard tone of a diagnosis with a bite of sarcasm to his tone like he hadn't appreciated the flippant way she'd phrased her question. In other words, the man didn’t seem to have the typical bedside manner of a Healer and it made Si wonder just how he’d gotten this far without learning how to deliver bad news better. Because…she’d just been joking, and her face paled at the thought that maybe she really was sick. And Merlin, could she really be dying? “A-a timeline?” she squeaked, wringing her hands together in concern at the brisk pace that the Healer was moving at. She’d been waiting an extremely long time to hear back from one of the two Healers who’d examined her, to get some good news and leave St. Mungo’s as soon as she was able. So it should have been a relief that this man didn't waste any time at all to give her complete honesty about what he thought her chances were.
But all this sudden talk about diagnoses and observations and timelines when she had only recently started to feel sick…it made her head spin and Sienna felt overwhelmed at the thought that there could actually be something wrong with her. She’d never caught anything serious in her whole time in the wizarding world. Sure, there’d been the occasional flu at school – but a quick Pepper-Up Potion from the Hospital Wing was always enough to take care of those and they weren't really magical problems anyway. And then there’d been that brief bout of Hag’s Fever last summer, although that too had been more of a nuisance than a serious disease. Si had gone into isolation along with everyone else who had contracted the bug, and then she’d spent a week sneezing fire and accidentally burning up tissues before being told she could go. It had always been known that Hag’s Fever posed a greater threat to the Statute of Secrecy than to anybody’s health, and she'd never taken the event as anything except a brief vacation from work.
Now, though…Si felt the tension and fear claw at her chest at the idea that she might have some strange magical illness and there were at least two Healers who didn’t have a clue what was wrong with her. That couldn’t be good, and it likely meant that the solution would be complicated and take time…if there even was one at all. Si swallowed and listened intently to the Healer’s questions. “No, I think that’s it. At least, I haven't noticed anything else,” Si confirmed nervously as he rattled off her symptoms. Hallucinations, itchy fingers, and dizziness…the casual way he grouped them together suddenly made her notice the trend of the last few weeks and the way her symptoms had gradually become a more noticeable problem. But she hadn’t even seen them like something that was coming from one single cause, just as isolated and annoying incidents. As he held out his hand, Si’s gaze flicked down to glance at it and then back up, as if to confirm that she’d understood what his silent gesture meant. She hesitated for a moment before offering her hand, gently placing it in his so he could examine her fingertips for any sign of what was causing the itchiness.
She had already told the Healers that she was a potioneer, so that information would be in her file already and this Healer probably knew that too. That was probably why he suspected her hands might have something interesting to show, if he thought that the source of this strange disease came from work. But if he asked her to make a list of all the ingredients she worked with regularly…Merlin, it could really be almost anything, and the list would be insanely long. She made so many different types of potions every week, and she rarely used gloves except for the most dangerous and toxic plants. It would be impossible for her to guess which ingredient might have caused this, if it was in fact any of them at all. She was only assuming that it had something to do with her job, but it could just as easily have sprung from somewhere else. That thought also made her dizzy. The way her joke had been taken seriously by the Healer made Si nervous to try saying anything else, but she cleared her throat. “Um…you don’t really think this could be that serious, do you? I thought Healers have found cures for most magical diseases these days.”
