Ariadne wasn't avoiding her elder brother Ares.  Well, not really anyway.  Work had been busy and the eldest Lestrange boy had always been a little bit separate from his other two siblings, apart from the night their parents died.  Ariadne was still not one-hundred percent sure what really went down that night, just that Andy had been placed in psychiatric care at St. Mungos for a good month afterwards.  However, she had recently gotten back in touch with Ares, and she believed he was trying to change.  His new partner, a woman named Sutton Avery who sounded vaguely familiar, had whipped him into shape, and it sounded like he wanted to be a better father to his son.  Ariadne had learned the hard way that the Lestrange family never put too much detail into writing; that was how her parents had first discovered her relationship with James, and they all knew how that had turned out.

So here she was, with flowers, a good bottle of Scotch for Ares (and Sutton if she drank it), and a new toy for her nephew Sebastian, standing outside her brothers' home.  She was invited, so she knew she was expected, but she still felt some butterflies of nerves floating around her stomach.  Could they really start a new chapter to their tumultuous lives?  Ariadne certainly hoped so.  So she raised her fist and knocked on the door twice before stepping back.  She let the breath she was holding in out slowly, waiting for the hint of a noise that someone was coming to answer the door.

SINCE SUTTON HAD RETURNED INTO Ares Lestrange's man, the Lestrange prided himself on changing for the better. Now that he was a father of two and essentially the Purifiers were officially dissolved, Ares was simply busy to work towards a better life for himself and his ever growing family. He moved once more, out of his shitty long-term apartment and into a better family-home, but that didn't stop Sutton from convincing him that her manor was more than comfortable. Nothing could ever convince that woman to stay in Ares' home long-term. And that's why he loved her stubbornness.

It had been over a year or so that the two of them had settled and confirmed their relationship and even the eldest Lestrange's wandering eye had relaxed as each month went on. Of course, he was still his forever-flirty self, but both him and Sutton knew his words would never hold any seriousness. Only with Sutton. As whipped as that sounded. Despite it all, Ares realised with all the events that happened in his life...He barely saw his siblings anymore. Andy was more than likely hiding somewhere, while Ares assumed Ariadne was off doing healer duties somewhere.

But when his younger sister got in touch, mentioning that she wanted to reconnect, Ares was a little skeptical at first, having the assumption that she had learned the truth about what happened that night between himself, Andy and their parents. He knew he didn't really need to be on his toes about it all, considering how long ago it was now, but it was better to be safer than sorry. Feeling comfortable inviting her over, especially to reveal that he wasn't just a father to Sebastian, but also Ashlyn now, Ares got up the moment he heard soft knocks against his door, telling both Sebastian and Ashlyn that their aunt had arrived.

Cracking open the door slowly to actually check if it was Ariadne, the eldest Lestrange smiled down at his younger sister. She had barely changed. "Ari." He began, opening the door more and smiling down when he felt both Sebastian and Ashlyn hide behind his legs. "Come in, but please take your shoes off..Sutton will murder something or someone otherwise." The 'someone' being him.

Ariadne put on a smile as the door opened to her elder brother standing just inside. “Ares” she said, stepping inside and immediately taking her shoes off. She hadn’t met Sutton more than once yet, but she got the impression she was not a woman to cross. As she stood up straight she saw Sebastian and Ashlyn peeking out shyly from behind her brother. Ariadne had to admit, the sight warmed her heart. When they were younger, she had always thought her brother aligned with their parents views on everything. She was pretty sure he was upset when he discovered she had started a relationship with James Potter. But…come to think of it, had he ever made a comment? Or was he just in the vicinity as their father beat her and their mother screamed how she was sullying the family name. Had he actually voiced any disapproval? She couldn’t remember.

Ariadnes smile softened as she crouched down to the childrens level. “Hello Sebastian, do you remember me?” she asked kindly. She then turned to Ashlyn. “Now I know we haven’t met yet. My name is Ariadne, I’m Sebastian’s aunt,” she introduced. She looked up at her brother, an elated look on her face. “I did bring them each a little something, is that alright?” she asked him. They were two small stuffed elephants she’d seen on her way over in a toy window shop. She had thought they were sweet; elephants were one of her favorite animals.

SMILING SMALL AS HIS YOUNGER sister stepped inside and immediately removed her shoes, Ares waved his finger, using magic to help put Ariadne's things away and even close the door behind her. He felt both of his children cling a little harder against his clothes and the thought of the two of them being shy amongst 'strangers' slightly warmed his heart. Simply because Ariadne was far from a stranger. Sure, the two hadn't reconciled in a while, especially with everything that had happened lately, but she would always be family. It was funny, considering Ares didn't believe he would be the first to have children, but considering his mistakes during his early twenties...the eldest Lestrange did live a reckless life.

As Ariadne crouched down to the kids level, Ares smiled more as he felt Ashlyn's grip on his trousers tighten. Sebastian was more comfortable, coming out of hiding a little more as it seemed like he remembered Ariadne a little more now. Ares smiled down at Ariadne, nodding at the mention of a gift. "As long as its not candy, I don't mind." He chuckled quietly before noticing Ashlyn coming out of hiding a little more now, quietly introducing herself and asking what the gift was. "Ashlyn loves gifts. I think she gets it from her mother.." He chuckled, ruffling her hair lightly.

Ariande laughed. “No candy or food of any sort. I know better,” she said, before presenting both children with soft stuffed elephants in their favorite color. “Did you know an elephant is my favorite non-magical creature?” she asked Ashlyn softly, crouching down to the younger girls level as she gave them both the toys. She smiled softly as they took them. “They can live to great ages, and are one of the biggest land animals in the entire world!” she exclaimed. “But they are gentle and kind creatures, and it’s good to remember that just because something looks big and scary, doesn’t mean it is,” she finished.

Ariadne stood back up and looked at her brother. “So, are you going to get me something to refresh myself with?” she asked him, a teasing smile playing at her lips. Out of the three Lestrange siblings, it had seemed that Ares was the perfect golden boy; first born, appreciative of their parents' purebloods-first rhetoric. However, the past few years had shown that her brother was much more than she realized; she knew he had gone with Andy to end their parents in part of what they did to her. She hadn’t seen that side of Ares before; protective of his siblings, even if it meant going against their parents. From what she could see already, Sutton also brought out a more calm, family-oriented Ares. This was the brother she wanted to get to know and form a relationship with.

RELIEVED THAT THE GIFTS HIS sister had for his children were far from sweets or food, Ares couldn't help but simply watched as his children warmed up to his sister. Their own aunt. Ares watched as Ashlyn's eyes widened at the elephant plush in her favourite colour while Sebastian listened intently to Ariadne's 'fact of the day'. It almost made the older Lestrange chuckle. But as his sister rose, questioning if he was going to get her something to refreshen with, Ares grinned. "Of course, but what do we say to Aunt Ariadne?" He began, looking down at both of his children with a soft smile.

As the two harmonised a quick thank you, Ares ruffled both of their hair and let the younger Lestranges' wander off into the house with their plushies squeezed in their arms, while the oldest Lestrange guided his sister inside, towards their living room. "Sutton refurbished the whole place..again. So it's probably a lot different as you last remember it." Ares then offered for his sister to take a seat while he walked towards his kitchen. "Water? Tea?..Coffee?..Wine? I've got literally everything and anything" He listed, knowing his sister would want something.
