July 2026 Milo didn't have work at the ministry today. But that didn't mean that he would sleep in and spend the entire day in bed. No. He had work to do. Getting dressed, he went out to his garden. He went out and got to work banishing weeds, thinning out the gnome population, harvesting what was ready to be harvested. Working the morning away, he finally moved back indoors into his small kitchen and whipped up some fresh breakfast. Once his morning was done, Milo grabbed some jarred products that he had prepared, and were destined to be sold. He packed a backpack and stepped out of his small house. He then started towards the front gate of the property, though before he could get too close, he was gone.
Jumping to an alley outside of the Leaky Cauldron. Making his way through the pub, and into the back alley, pulling out his wand he tapped the wall revealing the entrance to Diagon Alley. A place that he had first seen the summer before his sixth year of school. But now, he walked through it, right at home. He was comfortable with the area now. Then, He walked into Slug and Jiggers Apothecary. He addressed the shopkeeper. "Got some good stalk for you today." He stated, placing his backpack on the counter, unzipping it and pulling out glasses, and tied bundles of harvested plant parts of varying shapes and sizes. He always guaranteed the best quality of the products. The shop keeper gave him money for the items and he went to looking through some potion ingredients that weren't so readily available to him.

July 2026 Okay, so Sienna had been trying to break into the Herbology game for years now. It had never been her favorite subject in Beauxbatons, but it was so important to Potions that some small degree of expertise was still required. There were some fields that just fit together naturally, after all. Cursebreakers needed to have a decent grasp of magical history, alchemy demanded mastery in potions and transfiguration, and Potions? A herbologist was always your best friend, and every potioneer she knew had at least a simple herb garden and some interest in expanding to more exotic magical plants. Sienna was no different. She’d started her own garden almost exactly a year ago, and she’d since been looking for ways to expand beyond her small London flat and the little planting boxes she’d set up on her balcony. A while ago, she’d taken a first stab at caring for a Venomous Tentacula, although it had taken a druid to show her the proper way to calm and prune it. That made dealing with the apothecary’s suppliers one of the most interesting parts of her job. They didn’t always drop off their deliveries in person, with the bigger chains simply using various forms of magical delivery instead. But the smaller suppliers usually stopped by themselves, and Milo Rose was a one-man wonder in running his own Herbology side gig. Sienna was in the back, intently focused on a massive batch of Wiggenweld Potion when she heard Milo’s voice float in from the front of the apothecary. She gave an interested hum at that fact and slid a lid over the cauldron before making her way to the main area of the store. The shopkeeper was already rummaging through the ingredients he had brought, different bundled herbs and pickled plants in jars, although Sienna didn’t spare any of it a second glance. She’d do inventory later, when she and Rob had the shop to themselves and could take stock of everything together. “It’s been a while since your last visit,” Si pointed out as she joined Milo to examine one of the apothecary’s jampacked shelves. “Couldn’t make time for your favorite potioneers?”@milo

Milo's herbology knowledge was all but useless if he kept it to himself. He personally supplied many potioneers, and anything else he wasn't going to use, he sold off to apothecary's in the area. All in all, his side hustle of selling his magical stock was rather lucrative. He would deliver when he was able to, but mostly ended up having the portioners arrive at his personal residence. He took pride in his work, and ensured that he gave the best product possible. A smile came to his face as Sienna came up to him. "Hey Si. I always have time for you." He said as he moved in to give his friend a hug.
"How long has it been? How's your garden coming along?" He knew that she had been working on getting into the gardening game, though she didn't have a generations old family plot to start off with like Milo had inherited. But he always loved helping out his friends, especially when they proved interested in something that he seemed to understand better than most.

All in all, it was good to see Milo – if only because he was so different from most of the people in her life. Milo did what he wanted, exactly when he wanted to. He didn’t seem much attached to the thought of a schedule or being at the mercy of other people’s whims, and that sense of freedom was particularly attractive to someone like Sienna who was a slave to her routine. She’d tried the freelancing gig, once upon a time, but she’d crashed and burned. There was always too much work, and never enough money. Si had thought that her talent at potions would be enough to keep the lights on, but in the end she’d called it quits after a year of working side jobs and never quite breaking the threshold of success. After that, she had simply joined the staff of a major apothecary and started Aware Wolf as her own side project. After years of struggling, that was finally starting to pay off – but it only meant that Si had new and different kinds of commitments now.
But she set that curious thought aside so she could return Milo’s hug and let the tension melt away from her shoulders. “I just harvested my first batch of dittany,” she informed him brightly as she thought fondly of her little garden. It would never make the front page of any Herbology magazines, but Sienna liked to experiment with new seeds and she’d finally worked up the courage to expand beyond simple herbs into actual magical plants. Sienna’s mind had started to wander, so she pulled it back sharply into the conversation to give Milo a teasing smile. “So you should be careful or I’ll put you out of business someday. But never mind that, what have you been doing?” She raised an eyebrow at him as she idly rearranged the boxes of crushed rubies and emeralds on the shelf besides her. “It’s been at least a few weeks since your last visit, so I expect you’ve been on an adventure? Finally found the holy grail of Herbology?”

Milo considered his life to be quite a quiet one. Sure he worked part time at the ministry, but he wasn't the only translator there anyways. The boy had some sort of routine to his life, but it was calmer than others. He liked his life in the country side where he could go about his work in peace. But selling his herbs to portioners and apothecaries proved quite lucrative. Well, at least lucrative enough. If Milo had to be honest though, it was only because his grandparents had already established something before he moved in with them. Their families house elf was also aa great help.
The boy was always a friendly and happy type. Being with a friend only accentuated that. She had told him that she had harvested the first batch of dittany, he knew the plant well. The boy beamed "That's amazing." Milo's true passion was in herbology. And he always loved to hear of his friends successes. Truthfully, he would celebrate any of their accomplishments. The girl mentioned the chance of her little garden putting him out of business, and Milo couldn't help but laugh. "I'd love to see that" he beamed. Finally shrugging when she asked what he had been up to. "The usual. Translating random languages for the Ministry, and working out in my garden. I did make friends with a muggle sheep harder a little while ago. He offered some meat in trade for vegetables from my non magical garden." Milo was all about wasting as little as possible. While he wasn't vegetarian or vegan, he didn't purchase certain products from shops only because of the packaging they were sold in. He loved finding things second hand or trading one thing for another.
"I guess it has been a while since I've been here. I just got some Devil's Snare situated in a dark corner on my land. Took a while to get it settled. But no holy grail. Not yet." he chuckled.

Other people’s excitement always fed into Sienna’s excitement, and she found herself beaming as she reported on her garden’s progress. It was hard to find the time for a new hobby, since she found herself stretched so thin these days – but hey, when it’s important then you learn how to find the time for it. One of her main responsibilities had always been handling the shipments to and from the apothecary – incoming ingredients, outgoing potions. And at first, it was just fine and she found herself unloading the crates while her mind wandered to other things. After a while, though, the questions had come creeping in. Were these really the best quality ingredients she could find? What if she could do it better?
Maybe it was inevitable, but after that Sienna had started to reprioritize her time at Slug and Jigger’s. Creating relationships with suppliers was important, but the amount of Herbology books piled precariously on her desk had also tripled. Her roommate was incredibly patient with all of Si’s Herbology experiments at home, and it was only now that her garden was finally turning from a thought into reality. As Milo commented that he’d love to see it, Si shrugged casually (like she wasn’t carrying a small sun of pride in her chest) and said, “You should come by to see my garden sometime. Maybe even give me some tips?” She wondered if she was overreaching, but truly at some point a professional should really take a look. Si was deathly afraid of overwatering, but underwatering was also a problem…
At any rate, Milo’s life sounded like it had come straight out of a show. “Oh of course, making friends with a sheep herder. That’s completely normal, happens to me all the time,” Si responded teasingly. Europe was stock-full of sheep, of course, but Sienna couldn’t really remember the last time she’d been out to the English countryside. When she had first moved to London, she’d go all the time – looking for local farms to test their ingredients, ooh’ing and ah’ing at all of the beautiful views of rolling green hills dotted with sheep. But work kept her tethered to the city nowadays, and ‘vacation’ was the sort of thing you couldn’t think about when you were in the middle of inventing and establishing your own potion. Si made a face at the mention of Devil’s Snare and shivered slightly. “And it hasn’t tried to kill you yet?” Sienna had her own experience with Venomous Tentacula, another plant with murderous tendencies, and she felt more than fulfilled in her Herbology life without going near it again.

Plants had always been a passion of Milo's and he loved it when others found success in it. Herbology wasn't easy, he knew that, but for those who put in the effort, they often saw results. As for Milo's garden, well it took a lot of care. He had even inherited a house elf who helped care for things while he was out on business. He was quite proud of the land he owned, but would rarely take any of the credit. After all, the land was passed down to him by his grandparents. Many of the plants had been there since his ancestors first purchased the land. It was simply his turn to watch after it.
She had mentioned her starting and even that he could come and see it some time. Milo smiled. "I'd love that. And I'm always here to help. If you're having trouble with any particular plant, just remember, I've probably dealt with it too, so you can always ask." Milo knew a lot about plants, that sort of information just clicked for him. Though he wasn't one of brag or rant about his knowledge, unless asked. Many plants could be quite fickle, needing extra care or special care. Water wasn't the only thing one needed to take into consideration, but also sunlight and ground quality. There was so much that went into having a successful garden. Well, maybe he was over thinking it a bit. After all, he had a large plot of land in the country side, and had a wide variety of magical plants at his fingertips.
Milo preferred to eat farm to table. That meant that he didn't have a lot of meat in his diet. Though making friends with a sheep herder near by was an excellent way to change that. Though he had to laugh when Si mentioned how "normal" that was. It was true, the city and the country side were polar opposites. While Milo enjoyed spending time in the city, working, meeting up with friends, and having a good time, he also enjoyed his small abode in the country. It was quiet, and he felt there were more likeminded individuals. Well, as far as it was with limiting waste and limiting one's carbon footprint. He had mentioned devils snare and Si wondered after his safety. Milo shook his head. "There were a few close calls at the start, but now I've got handling it down." He would be lying if he said that he was an expert at everything, and the best at taking care of plants. There were always learning curves. "You should come and stop by the farm sometime. I'll show you around."

Sienna nodded at Milo’s reminder that he had a vast amount of knowledge on magical plants. This had always been one of the perks of her job – Si always met the most interesting people, and they tended to be quite extraordinary in their fields. Herbology and Potions were a natural pair, and there was a reason that Herbology was one of the required NEWTs to become a potioneer. You simply couldn’t succeed if you didn’t understand the ingredients you were working with, and Si figured it was probably one of the reasons she’d struggled so much at the beginning of her career. At any rate, she was taking it seriously now and eager to learn more about Herbology.
“I’ve always wanted to do a bit of traveling to learn more,” Si said longingly as she thought about the exotic plants and potions she’d be sure to find in other parts of the world. It was one of those dreams that she never had time for, but that was surely on the top of her bucket list. The world was big, and there was so much to learn from other cultures (especially the more ancient ones that kept alive old techniques and secrets). She hoped someday there would be an opportunity to learn about plants she’d only ever read about, and try her hand at a potion that was arcane and powerful. That sounded like a dream. She snapped back to attention to listen closely to Milo’s adventures with the Deviled Snare, and Si laughed slightly at his hasty explanation that he had it handled.
Her face brightened at his offer to visit his farm. A chance to see how a professional did it – amazing, unique, perfect! “That would be amazing!” Si said, choosing only one of the million adjectives rolling around in her head to avoid seeming too overeager. She shook her head slightly as she observed, “London weather really isn’t good for a garden. It’s why we bring in so many ingredients from France.” It was expensive, but the weather in southern France was perfect for many of the basic ingredients she needed for some of their most popular potions. It would of course be better to find local alternatives, but England wasn’t really known for it. Shame, really.
