"And I missed you, Lele," Rob replied, a smirk curling on his lips. "It's not your only skill," he added with a dark chuckle. But Lyra insisted that she did it for the money, because she was good at it, and Rob had to admit to himself that he didn't in fact understand. He'd never been destitute, he'd always had a range of talents, his family had always supported him. He never felt like he had only one lifeline. Perhaps Lyra had the right intentions, but just went about it the wrong way. Lyra mentioned savings, and Rob inclined his head slightly. To him, money wasn't important. His upbringing had instilled that deeply into him. Yet to Lyra, who had once had nothing, it must have been nice.
Rob mentioned his research into the legal side of duelling. He had discovered that it was actually an interesting sport, but rules and regulations kept the duellers from being seriously injured. Which, after all, had been the reason why he'd started this argument in the first place. Without proper measures in place to keep the players in check, Lyra could have been cursed for the rest of her life, or worse, killed. She had never been able to grasp just how much she meant to Rob, and how living without her had affected him. Even the past few months had been brutal.
Lyra replied that she'd been approached by legal representatives, and a bloom of hope sprung to life in his chest. He snorted as she explained that she'd represent the underdog. "You, an underdog? From what you've told me you'd wipe the floor with them," said Rob with a chortle. He stretched, curling an arm around Lyra, drawing her closer once more. He kissed the top of her head, then rested his chin on it. "You know the money doesn't matter to me, right? I won an award as well... and got some prize money for it," he admitted after a while. He didn't know if Lyra had seen the article in the paper about Aware Wolf, but was certain she had tried to avoid it as much as possible in their months apart. "I just don't ever want to lose you," he mumbled.

With a small smile she acknowledged his admission of missing her just as much, even if she hadn't anything to say in response. She was finding it difficult to come up with something to say when she wasn't quite set on how everything was playing out. Things were still tentative she supposed. Though there was less words exchanged, much less, the full moon had sort of started like this, until it was made clear she had to sort of see herself out. Things seemed different from then, and yet, still she chose to be careful. Walking on egg shells she stayed silent for the most part, waiting to see how he reacted from now on out. "For the most part it is" she tacked on lamely. It was the only thing she was truly confident in for now. Although she had opened up to him about being scouted, now she found another layer of icy unease settled in her stomach. Maybe he wouldn't like the sound of that either. While yes, it was regulated and there was heavy rules, there was still a level of mitigated risk to it all. Especially in the bigger leagues, where Professional Duelists were up there with Quidditch Players and Muggle Professional Athletes. Things would certainly be different from how things were now; having Hana as her manager and sticking to mostly the private, shadier clubs. She still wasn't sure however that he'd be altogether happy about the minimised risk. Even though he seemed to be softening, even warming up to the idea; Lyra remained cautious, now regretting what she had said so far. As he pulled her closer and kissed at her forehead, she still remained tense, shrugging slightly as he played up her skills. It was an uncomfortable topic to deal with, all of this, and it wasn't something she dealt well with. An uncomfortable shrug at his acceptance of her aptitude was all she could manage for now. Slipping from one uncomfortable topic to another, she frowned, avoiding his gaze; the money. At the angle his head rested on hers, it wasn't likely he could see how creased her brow had become. "The money is important to me. I want to be able to provide. To set us up for..." drifting off slightly, she found herself unsure of what to say to end that thought. Clearing her throat slightly, she tried to compose herself and keep it open ended, still unsure of what he wanted. Even if he was making it glaringly obvious by cuddling her in his bed and telling her how much he loved and missed her, Lyra was still cautious. There had been so much hurt the last time, to do it all again would be torture. "Well for wherever we end up I guess" she finished eventually. Her face softened as he spoke of his award though. "I know. I saw Robbie, I kept the clipping" she admitted as her cheeks darkened with a blush, a sheepish smile on her face. Truthfully she had kept quite a few, daily pouring over every publication she could get her hands on for any mention of Rob and his award; much to hanna horváth 's annoyance. "I was going to owl you, but then.. but then I wasn't sure if you still hated me or not" She was quiet for a moment, letting her flush die down and get some sort of hold on her emotions again when he made his next admission. It only made her throat tighten up some more. Maybe things were rocky for now, but it seemed there was some light at the end of the tunnel and they could make things work somehow. Tears pricking at the edge of her eyes, she bit down on her lip, and hoped he still couldn't see her and how close she was to crying. All she could do for now was nod into her chest, agreeing with his sentiment. She didn't trust herself to keep her voice even and stop it cracking. EPKE ROBERTUS OPPEDYK

Lyra observed that in fact, duelling was her only skill. Rob only hummed his disapproval. But he said nothing. He was too wary of the way this could fall apart so quickly. As it always had in the last few months that they had seen one another. It had been so awkward for them the last time they'd been together - he hadn't known what to say, and Lyra had scurried off with her tail between her legs. Rob had wanted to beg her to stay, to resume the cosy little life they'd made together. But they hadn't settled the score yet. And now, Rob and Lyra had broached the frightening topic of her duelling. And... they had overcome it. Or so he hoped.
Lyra made a feeble attempt to argue, to twist his beliefs to those that money were more important than anything. Though Rob had grown up very differently from Lyra. Never pining for money, though never extraordinarily wealthy. His parents had done well, but they had given so much more than they had taken. His mother more so than everything. She had always given and given and given. And Rob? He had given Lyra so much... and though he knew that she was stubborn, this fragment of forgiveness was like a beacon. It gave him hope. Rob's hazel eyes met the dark depths of Lyra's, finding her kind soul so deep within her. She had brought out the courage in him - and in this moment, Rob realised he had done the same for her.
"Wherever it is, we'll be together," said Rob, both confident and quiet in the same. He tried to explain his award, that they didn't have to worry about money, that it was no matter for him. All he wanted, everything he needed was tangled up in the covers beside him. Long limbs and tiny stature, wild, dark hair and eyes but moonlight skin. A woman made of juxtapostitions, and yet perfect for him all the same. Someone who was not used to the comforts of life, but was kind all the same. "I love you, Lyra. No matter what. And I have never, ever stopped," he reminded her, twisting a curl of dark hair around his finger. Lyra looked up at him and Rob looked down at her, frozen in a tender moment that he would surely never forget.

Grasping at the edge of the pillow case and running a stubby nail along the seam of it was how she was focusing on grounding herself as she watched him. They had different outlooks on life, but at the end of the day; Rob was her mate. Some ridiculous celestial magic had brought them together and yes, while they may have rushed things because of it, Lyra didn’t regret any of it. It was just difficult that now things were so different. The hurt in her chest weighed heavy and she knew they’d never see eye to eye on the fact she wanted to be able to provide for them and to have a comfortable life from what she did. She had had a rough few years, wanting to live a good life with her mate wasn’t so terrible was it? Too bad she was blind to Rob’s indignation on where the money had come from. Relaxing somewhat, she lay back from his arms, moving to splay her dark hair across the pillow now. As well as feeling suddenly very exposed, she pulled and moved the duvet to cover her naked flesh, just as her cheeks flushed in surprise. She surveyed him in an anxious silence wondering how much of her thoughts she should speak out loud. Things were better obviously, or she wouldn’t still be here in his bed, naked. And yet, there was an unease in her, gripping tight at her chest; in reality it may not take much to set things off again. His words caused her cheeks to flush again, this time more in appreciation. It gave her ease. They would be together. Snaking a hand under the duvet she reached for his and took it just as gingerly as she had earlier in the night. Giving it a cautious squeeze, she nodded, afraid of her feelings bubbling too close to the surface again. She had grown to be so cool and collected, so in control. And yet here Rob was, her mate with the unending ability to be able to rattle her and shatter all of that. Sitting on the edge of her dangerous emotional precipice she tried to control her tears again. Rob didn’t need any more sobbing to scare him away. When he reached for one of her curls to play with it, she felt herself relax. The first time in forever she’d felt this comfortable with him. A warm smile played on her lips, as she gave his hand another squeeze. ”I love you Robbie”Her mouth opened for a moment like she was going to say something, and then closed again like she was unable to speak the thought. With a second attempt it came out, her voice was hesitant and shaky, unsure of whether he would be angry at it. In a move of avoidance, she dropped her gaze, even if her fingers were still tightly wrapped in his. ”Sometimes..” she began slowly, almost searching for the words. Her tone was hesitant, scared to speak this thought. ”Sometimes I think that we rushed things. That we should have taken things slower. Or else that it all happened in too much of a rush. Like, maybe I should have just been alone in London a little longer to settle myself….” pausing, she took a breath, the edges of her mouth beginning to tug up again. Her eyes now focused on the top of the duvet where there hands were clasped underneath “But then I sit and think some more and I think we found each other at just the right time…”EPKE ROBERTUS OPPEDYK

It seemed much less frightening, approaching the topic that had damaged their relationship so thoroughly, now that it was over with. They agreed to a compromise - while Rob couldn't convince Lyra to stop duelling entirely, he thought it was not his business what he could allow or couldn't allow. And she had agreed to stop with the illegal duelling, unregulated and unsafe, and would instead compete in the leagues that she had been championed for. As the underdog. Rob nearly snorted at that - whoever thought Lyra was an underdog was seriously mistaken.
Rob twisted a dark lock of hair around his finger, professing his love for his mate and appraising her tenderly. Lyra echoed his sentiments, and Rob couldn't stifle the euphoria that spread throughout him. He leaned forward, kissing her with fervour. The taste of her mouth was the same, if not even sweeter than just moments ago. After a long moment, he broke away. He opened his mouth to speak, but Lyra beat him to it. Rob frowned, just so slightly. He had been about to propose she move back in with him, to share their home again. But Lyra explained that perhaps they had moved too quickly. Rob wasn't sure how to response, feeling as if she had completed the puzzle of his life in just the right way.
"Maybe," Rob replied evasively. "What do you mean by that, though?" he added after a moment. He could understand if she still wanted some space from him, even if he didn't like it. "You're my mate... and hopefully my girlfriend?" asked Rob, almost questioning the position she had in his life. "But we can take things slow. Whatever you want," he added in a rush. "I don't want to push you away," said Rob in a very small voice.

Lyra let the unsure topic of duelling slip away. For now it was easier to simply bury it, and move on. She was sure it was settled on, or rather enough for now at least anyway. There didn't need to be anymore said at the minute over it. Perhaps later she's finally get around to replying to the agents who had been writing to her and arrange some sort of meeting with them, well dependent on when hanna horváth would be free of course. Her negotiator. But maybe even then she could take Rob. If he wasn't busy and had things of his own to attend to. Nibbling her lip, she watched him through half blurred vision playing with a curl close to her face. And then without much warning he dipped in and kissed her with such a passion it made the corners of her lips curl. God she had missed this. This was what had cause the pain in her chest all the time she lay alone in the tiny bed in Hanna's spare room. This is what she had felt every time she found herself actually looking out for Rob's frame making his way through Diagon Alley when she pretended to herself she hadn't been searching him out. When he had reached out the olive branch for them to begin talking again a few weeks ago, she had been wary. Wary of making a fool of herself and falling at her feet. She was scared of the quivering mess Rob could turn her into. He could make her melt and unearth her hardened exterior to the wolf inside, while also being the hole in heart that made her hurt when he wasn't there. Not that she would admit it to anyone, barely herself, but she was terrified of being hurt all over again. "We rushed it a little I suppose. I moved in the first day we really even talked. I...I don't even really know what I'm trying to say I guess..." With a small shrug she smiled sheepishly, barely able to back up whatever point she had been trying to make. Placing a hand on his chest as if to calm him, she shook her head and spoke softly "No I don't want to be pushed away. Of course I'm still your mate Robbie..." with a quiet laugh, she still avoided his gaze, now looking at her fingers spread on is bare chest. " That's more than a girlfriend I hope..." Trailing off quietly, she let her mind hover there for just a moment. The bond they shared had a higher meaning than any old label put on their relationship, even if she did question it sometimes. Even if she didn't understand it, she had this invisible undeniable attachment to Rob that she felt silly even calling it Love. The Moon Magic that had drawn them together was more than that. With another small laugh against the square set of his jaw she mumbled into his skin "I don't know, I love you that's all I guess" With that, she gave up, unsure of what else to say EPKE ROBERTUS OPPEDYK

Rob appraised Lyra silently, noting the slight downturn to her full lips, the hesitation in her gaze. "It's okay," he said gently, stroking back her dark hair from her face. "It's okay and it will be okay. We just need a little faith and each other." With that, Rob leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers, effectively ending the conversation.
