June 20, 2026 Yara knew that she probably should have been working on her final assignments instead of streaming yet another episode of Singing Story, but it was better than thinking about what had happened to Hogwarts and how her older sister was so closely tied to a world in which she was in constant danger—even more so than in the non-magical world. Immersing herself in a fictional version of the real world, in which Choi Yo-han and Park Yi-seul were falling in love at a record label, was arguably much better than thinking about the real world that should have been a fantasy world that lurked side-by-side with the world that she had assumed was the "real world" until she had found out that Yasmin was a witch. It was all so complicated, and at least a K-drama and a smoothie while supposedly busying herself with university work made for a good distraction.
Headphones on, she was back at her usual café, but the usual corner table she took was occupied, leaving her to sit with her screen visible to the other patrons. She kept an eye on the time so that Yas wouldn't start to worry about her, but it wasn't like her sister didn't know where she was. She'd covered that through multiple text messages, just to be on the safe side. Then, she glanced away from her screen for just a second and saw that a woman was waiting for her order who looked suspiciously like Park Yi-seul.
Blinking, Yara was sure that it was just her mind playing tricks on her. She hadn't watched that much of the show, had she? Just every episode as it had come out, rewatching the existing ones, and then some videos she'd found from behind the scenes on social media… That wasn't a lot. She had found out in that time that little was known on the internet about Park Yi-seul's life before fame, but… London? In the same café that she was in? That was unbelievable. What if she had a twin or something? That would be awkward. She couldn't just not acknowledge that she was almost definitely seeing Park Yi-seul in the flesh, so she immediately went to Twitter and—hands shaking—typed out some gibberish that was hopefully coherent enough for her mutuals to tell that she was pretty sure that she wasn't hallucinating that she was in the same café as Park Yi-seul.
She was getting notifications quickly, with other users wanting to know if she was in Seoul. The television series still playing on her laptop, Yara whispered a quick prayer, set her headphones down, and got up with her phone in hand, trying not to seem too eager as she approached the woman who was almost definitely the actress on her laptop screen. "Hi, um…" she began quickly, taking a breath. How was she supposed to do this? There was no manual for approaching K-drama stars in random cafés in Central London. Greeting her in Korean seemed way too presumptuous, and what if it wasn't actually Park Yi-seul? Yara was going to have to find out. "Are you Park Yi-seul?" she asked, practically holding her breath as she waited for a response. She knew that she must have sounded absolutely crazy. Why was it so much easier to interact with people on the internet?

▲ There were a couple decent coffee shops and bakeries inside the magical zone of London, but Yi-seul found that she did better mingling with the non-magical population instead. Watching and listening to conversations helped with the way she conducted her auditions, because conversations and things that went on inside the magical counterparts weren’t really conducive for that sort of thing. That and she generally found that the coffee was better out here. The baked goods were on a different level on the other side of the wall, but muggles really knew how to make coffee. Something about machines doing all the work really seemed to stump some of her fellows, which was probably the reason why she was tasked with handling the coffee machine at the studio. It was always the little things that seemed to stump her kind the most. While funny, she’d seen enough of it throughout her travels and it was hard to call it cute or quirky anymore. The ability to use phones and other technology in magical zones should have really pushed people to start learning about these sorts of things. The point was that she enjoyed muggle coffee shops for the atmosphere and the people watching. Today she had ordered some seasonal caffeinated drink, simply asking for whatever was popular right now. It didn’t really matter what it was, since she was more than likely going to be back later in the day to get something else to keep her awake for the afternoon (she absolutely despised the coffee she made at work). Hearing her full name asked in the form of a question while she waited for her drink to be finished was confusing at first, because there wasn’t anyone on the other side of the counter. Turning around, she saw a younger woman standing next to her, seemingly the source of the question. How on earth did this person know who she was? The obvious and immediate reason – because she was an actress – hadn’t clicked into her head at first because she was still coming to terms that this was a thing now. Looking around the rest of the café to see if there was a set of cameras, like if she was on an episode of Punk’D, it seemed like the source of her name was coming from the girl. “Yes?” she asked, confused still. How else was she supposed to respond? MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

June 20, 2026 "Yes?"
The woman she had just approached was Park Yi-seul. Even with that confirmation, Yara could hardly believe it. It wasn't just a stranger in a café who happened to bear an uncanny resemblance to her. It was her. In London. Yara told herself that she had to remain calm, even though she could feel her legs shaking underneath her. It was so unreal—and that was coming from someone who had a sister who was a witch.
"My name is Yara, and I'm a huge fan," Yara explained to her. Level-headed most of the time, even she couldn't stop herself from feeling starstruck over running into the K-drama actress. She could feel her hand sweating slightly around her mobile phone, and she gripped it tighter to keep it from slipping and falling onto the floor. "Um, I… May I please take a selfie with you?" Was it too much to ask her for a picture? Yara tried to tell herself that it was, but she knew that nobody would believe her without it. (Still, someone would probably accuse her of manipulating a photo in Photoshop and faking it for the attention.)

▲ She was a fan. There had been fans before, of course, though that had come in the form of rabid k-drama fans back in Korea. She hadn’t experienced this sort of interaction in London yet. Then again, a lot of her time was spent either at work or in the shopping areas around her flat. Essentially away from the non-magical. There weren’t many in either of those areas that would know of her role in Singing Story. To be fair, they would probably find it hilarious that she basically acted out her day to day activities at the record label. That irony was not lost on her in the slightest. The problem was that the mundane part of the world was untested as far as her recent role went. Was this going to be a more common occurrence now? She didn’t want to have to hire a security detail, knowing how some fans could get. There was no way that she was even close to that level of stardom yet, right? Regardless, this girl was telling her that she was a huge fan, and Yi-seul had left her hanging for a response about getting a picture with her. “I umm…that should be-” she was cut off as she heard her name called for her drink order, butchered by the barista. Even if she had given a fake name in English, they still always got it wrong. Not that it was their fault. Coffee shops were loud and fast – an incorrect name was hardly the worst thing in the world to happen to her. Grabbing her drink, she momentarily forgot about the girl until she turned around and saw her again. Right. She was asking for a selfie. “Why don’t we move out of the way?” she asked the girl as the next line of customers moved in to wait for their coffees. If there was one fan, there were probably more. Unless that was too paranoid? Making her way towards an empty table in the corner, Yi-seul motioned for the girl to follow her. It wasn’t like she had anywhere to go for a while, and being the first time she’d been approached by a non-Korean fan she figured she could spend a little time with her. June 20, 2026 This was embarrassing. Wow. This was really embarrassing. Yara realized that she had accidentally kept Park Yi-seul from getting the drink she'd ordered. She didn't know how she would ever be able to live that down. The actress probably hated her. That would be bad. That would be really bad. She didn't need all of Twitter to think that she had turned into some stalkerish so-called "sasaeng fan".
"Why don't we move out of the way?"
Right. Hand still gripping her phone so that it wouldn't fall, Yara shuffled awkwardly out of the way of the other customers who were just trying to go about their business. (They were definitely also wondering what was going on, Yara didn't doubt.) When Park Yi-seul directed her towards a table in the corner, Yara nodded and glanced over at her own belongings. It wouldn't be for but a few minutes at the most, and she was living inside of a fanfiction story.
"You said your name was Yara, right?"
Amazed that Park Yi-seul had remembered her name, Yara nodded again, still stunned. She could talk; she knew she could, but what if she were to say something stupid? What if it came out in Arabic and made her sound like she had forgotten her fluent English? How was she supposed to respond? She could be relaxed. If Yas were acting like she knew she was acting, she would have told her to get a grip already. "Yes?" Yara replied, her intonation rising like she didn't know her own name. It was her name, though. "Yes, my name is Yara. And I'm really not a sasaeng, I promise!" Breaking the Ice with Celebrities 101, taught by Yara El Fayed: Tell them that you're not a stalker. Because that will reassure them.

▲ Merlin, this was exactly how she had been while checking in Camila Calderon only a little while ago at the recording studio, hadn’t it? Oh how the tables had suddenly turned. Such a thing like this had really never crossed her mind, especially in London. Had she looked as insanely giddy and equally star-struck in front of the singer? The difference between their celebrity statuses was drastically different, and Yi-seul knew that she could never compare herself to someone as famous as Camila. Or any of the musicians at the label for that matter. Being a virtual no-name before Singing Story had made things a lot easier on her, especially because she had a whole other world to completely disappear into if things got a little too hectic. So far they hadn’t, but all it took was one tweet or Instagram story and the fans would come running. The Korean media industry wasn’t some unknown entity like it had been a decade ago. There were insane fans worldwide. And that brought it back around to Yara, who was immediately claiming that she wasn’t a sasaeng as Yi-seul took a seat. She laughed at that, mostly because of how ridiculous such an idea was for someone like her to have a stalker. “I know you aren’t. You were already sitting here when I ordered, weren’t you?” It wasn’t like this coffee shop was a frequent flyer on her places to go, so even if Yara was a sasaeng, waiting here all day every day would be the worst way to stalk her. Thinking back on it, Yi-seul had done sort of the same thing with Camila, except she immediately knocked half of the paperwork on her desk onto the floor and then blurted out loud about how she’d been obsessed with the singer’s music whilst still at WADA. “But that brings up a good point. If we take a picture together, you have to promise not to post it until later. Okay?” She winked at Yara as she took a sip of her drink. It was okay. June 20, 2026 Yara was eternally grateful that the Park Yi-seul hadn't mistaken her for some creepy stalker proclaiming herself to be a "fan" of hers. The actress had noticed her—Park Yi-seul had noticed her!—sitting inside the café already when she had walked in. It was a really good thing that it hadn't been the reverse, thought Yara, or she would have had to explain herself. She was just an Egyptian university student in London who also happened to be a fan of Korean culture and media. She was currently living the "main character" dream, and she wasn't about to ruin it for herself by looking like a fool in conversation with Park Yi-seul.
"But that brings up a good point," Yi-seul added. "If we take a picture together, you have to promise not to post it until later. Okay?"
"Okay," Yara nodded more eagerly than she would have liked, but that was hard not to do when she had just been winked at. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been if it were Park Yi-seul's costar on Singing Story, Choi Yo-han, who had winked at her instead. Talk about dreamy! "We can take more than one photo," she added, "so you can choose which one I post!"

▲ Yi-seul was probably as excited as Yara was for this encounter. It was a lot more peaceful than how things would go down in Korea, mostly because the fans here didn't even come close to as fanatic. And there weren't as many, which would mean no crowd rush. Taking that out of the equation made the whole thing pleasant. She was more willing to tan and take pictures this way, whereas everything was always rushed during pressers or meet and greets in Korea. Yi-seul doubted there would be more than one fan in the coffee shop as well, meaning this would look like any old normal conversation between two people. Similar to how she felt whenever she was in the magical side of London. No one there cared about who she was, except if she bumped into a musician that was signed to the label or an old colleague of her parents. Even then, those were different sorts of conversations. They were more out of obligation and friendliness, instead of this, which was a dynamic she was still getting used to. Yara was a legit fan. It felt so strange, yet exciting. "Of course! she answered immediately, sliding her chair closer to Yara to see how exactly her fan wanted to pose for the photo. As she waited, she wondered if the poor coffee shop would get tagged in the location. While her own online presence wasn't immense, there were the sasaeng to be worried about. There was a chance that it would mean she'd never be able to come back here, or at the very least not for a while. It was too bad that there were fans like that. Even considering them as such was sort of ridiculous, because they weren't. Anyone that took things that far could never actually be a fan of something. It was obsession plain and simple. "Whenever you're ready," she smiled. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
