Mid October 2026Arlo had been settling in nicely at Ilvermorny. His parents missed him and Georgie of course, but it was nice to get some distance from them in some way. And even if he didn't want to admit it, he missed them. Admittedly a lot more than Georgie did, but still. Despite that, Arlo felt now that he was so far away there was a level of pressure that was removed. About schooling. About Quidditch. About life in general. Now he was removed from Hogwarts and the same environment he had survived the past seventeen year, he was a little bit more himself, and that was nice. After the fall of Hogwarts he had re-evaluated himself a little bit and decided to stop hiding. Plus it was always easier to blend in here where the vast majority didn't know him. Especially with lulu anne blishwick by his side now. As he sat in the Cafeteria of the new school, he glanced around for any sort of familiar faces while multi-tasking and serving himself some chips. lyka cruz malkin

▲ Ilvermorny wasn’t nearly as bad as Lyka had made it out to be during the first few weeks of September. Once she was fully settled in, figured out where all of her classes were (which was a miracle in itself), and had scratched the flying itch that had been bugging her at the beginning, things started making more sense and everything was a lot more easy going than she expected it to be. The only hitch thus far, aside from a few forgotten personal items that her parents had sent over the week after classes began that were sort of important for a couple subjects, was the lack of anything surrounding Quidditch. That wasn’t to say that the sport was completely nonexistent here. A few pick-up games had been played on the weekends and she had managed to do ‘practices’ with the remnants of the Hufflepuff team, but it wasn’t the same as it was at Hogwarts. Some players decided to transfer into Quodpot for the year, as a way to maintain their competitive edge. While Lyka would have liked to do the same, that was basically like being a traitor in her eyes. She could not convince herself that the American sport was an equal exchange for her beloved pastime. A few people had called her a poor sport over one of her outbursts, stating that the Ilvermorny students that had come to Hogwarts for the last two years managed to integrate into the house teams seamlessly, and wondered why she simply couldn’t do the same thing. Because it wasn’t the same, that was why. She refused to bend the knee to an inferior sport. To solve this problem, she’d started a list. Maybe it could have been considered a petition if it had any proper backing by the student body or the potential to actually become a real thing, but all it had so far was her name and a couple others listed underneath it. The goal was to get enough signatures to have a Quidditch club as well. It was a pipe-dream, she knew that. But Lea had mentioned at the start of term as an alternative way to get games going, and Lyka had spent the last month working diligently on a plan that wasn’t ridiculously idealistic. The gist of it was to have somewhere to go to after classes to either plan practices or pick-up games, both working around the existing Quodpot schedule. She knew she couldn’t beat the American sport, so moving around it was the only option she had. Today, she was on a hunt for signatures. The few she had down already had been made with promises that she knew she was going to regret down the road, like a free tailoring for dress robes at the family store. Obviously she’d have to talk to her parents about that one. They’d probably make her struggle through it just to make a point. Realistically, she sort of hoped any of these deals she struck for signatures would be forgotten by the time they returned to Hogwarts next year. Regardless, she had no issue making promises she couldn’t keep. It was all in the name of Quidditch after all. She’d do anything right about now. The prime location to wheel and deal at Ilvermorny was their cafeteria. Students had always inhabited the Great Hall at Hogwarts, so it sort of made sense that they would gravitate to the same location at other schools too. Her eyes scoured the cafeteria for promising individuals, particularly Quidditch players. They were easy to win over and typically agreed with her on most aspects. Anything to spend more time on a broom worked for them. She locked onto one guy that was sitting alone, who she was pretty sure played for Gryffindor last year. That was her first target, it seemed. Hustling over and throwing herself into the seat next to him, she slapped her signature paper down onto the table in front of both of them. “Hi! You played for Gryffindor right? Think you could sign this so that we can get Quidditch going again?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Arlo had only began shovelling his second forkful of ketchup drowned chips into his gob when Lyka had approached him. At first he thought she was just going to take the seat across from him as there was nowhere else to sit perhaps. He was deaf to her true intentions. He gave her a small smile and nod out of politeness. She was at the very least a known face; she had gone to Hogwarts and transferred over too, even if she was a few years below him. It wasn't unlike Arlo to try and make friends by being friendly to people, this would be no different. Listening when she began to speak, his eyes widened somewhat and he began to struggle to swallow the chewed lump now. "Yeah I did" he eventually gave a lopsided grin, unsure of where this was going. Continuing to watch he, he toyed with the fork, hovering over some more chips. He was in fact tipped to be the House Captain after simon sixten svendsen had graduated, and even past that he was lined up to play on the England squad if his father had anything to do with it. However, he had been actually enjoying the fact there was no Quidditch here at Ilvermorny. He liked that the pressure was lifted off him, and that he could just do what he wanted without having the please others. Sure he kept fit running Quid drills and joining in some Quadpot games with the teams casually when needed, but he wasn't quite sure he needed the pressure of having it made official again. But Arlo had never been someone to break someone's spirit. "Uh, yeah sure!" Without another small smile, he looked at the younger girl. "That's cool you're doing this. You miss Quidditch then?" Flustering about for a moment he realised he had no Quill to actually sign it, so waited to see did he produce one. lyka cruz malkin

▲ Correct she was! One Gryffindor player down meant that the rest would probably come to sign like dominos falling. The fact that their team was always fiercely loyal to the sport was encouraging now. Where there could be some faltering from the Hufflepuffs, she knew she could rope in the Gryffindors no problem. As for the other two houses, a bit of work would need to be done there. Owing her sister a favor to get the Ravenclaws on board as well could be one possibility though she wasn’t sure how much sway Lea had within the house or around the Quidditch players that ended up at Ilvermorny. Regardless of the outcome, this wasn’t going to stop the Malkin girl from aggressively petitioning to get her beloved sport back on the docket for the American school. Even if it ended up only happening during the spring term, she could count that as a success. “Oh, I love it,” Lyka beamed at the Gryffindor boy. “I finally made it onto Hufflepuff’s team last year as a reserve, so missing out on my first year officially on the roster could hurt my prospective professional career. You know?” That was maybe a tad bit presumptuous on her part since she hadn’t even seen a live match yet, and wouldn’t until her sixth year. Scouts would have to take that into account though. Lyka was positive that showing the initiative this year with trying to bring the players together would look good in terms of leadership potential. Or something like that. Waiting for the boy to sign the petition, she realized that he needed a quill, and she pulled an oversized black Sharpie out of her bag. It was the kind that bled through the top paper into the one below it but made it impossible to deny that someone had signed. The only thing more abhorrent than the smell it gave off as she pulled the top off would be if it had blown up inside of her satchel. That had happened once, and without magic to clean it up, would have ruined the whole thing. “Just sign it right here,” she pointed under the bottom name as she held the marker out to him. There were only three others under her own, but she was making some headway! “You wouldn’t happen to know anyone else that might be interested, would you?”MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
