20 June 2026
Something in Petri spoke to him as he rose with the sun on this particular June day. A whisper, a hint, a message from the Earth Mother, directing him. He sprung from his bed and checked his rumpled appearance in the mirror, a plan already formulating in his head thanks to the Earth Mother's nudging. He pulled leaf green robes over his head, and readied himself for the day without waking Aidan. Petri knew that his cousin would rise shortly, and emerge from his room if he hadn't already. But Petri was already in the back garden, his eyes sweeping over the blooms he kept in the garden. He plucked a few particular ones, and with a crack he disappeared from view.
Petri reappeared in muggle London, next to a dilapidated phone box. He shuddered with distaste - he really hated the loud noises of the city and the strict organisation of the British Ministry of Magic. But he forced himself onwards, ignoring the clamour of the crowd outside the alleyway, and dialled 6-2-4-4-2. In a moment, he rattled down in a lift. Petri had only come this way once before, and he had not liked it then either. He couldn't remember where Anastasia's office was, so he had to ask the security wizard. The man eyed him, even though he was half a foot shorter, before directing him to the correct floor.
With a soft knock, Petri let himself into Anastasia's office. He knew she would be here - the Earth Mother had led him to this very spot. Petri had also known that Anastasia had been working herself to the bone, especially after the dreadful fires that consumed Hogwarts. She sat behind her desk now, looking tired and haggard, but more beautiful than ever. "Ana," greeted Petri, beaming at her. "I bring these," he added, pulling the flowers he'd selected with a flourish. "But Earth Mother speaks to me. She says she has been watching you. And you need to reconnect. So I take you somewhere, yes?" said Petri. With another flourish, the flowers braided themselves into a floral crown. "You can trust me. The Earth Mother has blessed you."

feet sometimes on solid ground sometimes at the edge June 20, 2026 @petri It was report after report. Reports on collected evidence, reports on submitted tips that were dead or might lead to something. Reports following interrogations of low-level Purifiers. Reviewing notes and reports from Bianca concerning their high-profile prisoner. Even with the new technology, it was just a mountain of stuff on her desk. Not to mention that not everybody in Interpol or from the Aurors had any kind of mastery of the electronic files, so parchment was still being phased out.
At the moment, she was reviewing several leads and formulating a plan to track down suspected Purifiers that had fled the country. One of the reports was entirely in French, and she still awaited one of the Interpol transfers from France to come translate it. But as she contemplated the next step, her door opened, and she almost froze a moment as Petri walked in. This was the last place she expected to see him, but it had also been some time since she last saw him. Before the Hogwarts fire and right before her undercover work had become incredibly risky.
Truthfully she had no idea what Elaine or the Purifiers thought of the Druids, but she was pretty certain it was not anything positive. While at work, she still had that fierce mask up, though his eyes were their usual soft green, and he gently held out the transformed flowers for her. ”Petri I…I have a lot to do.” She responded, reminding herself he was not one of her colleagues or an annoying trainee. His presence was always calming, and Merlin knew he was much nicer to look at than her entire department. Though it was not common for essentially a fling to come to see her at the office. Unfortunately, Ana did not completely trust him. But she did not distrust him either, which should be considered a compliment.

At Anastasia's lukewarm greeting, Petri seemed to sag like a plant in need of watering. He chewed thoughtfully on the inside of his cheek, wondering if the Earth Mother had lead him astray. "You... you want me to leave?" he asked, his voice quieter than usual. The pair looked at one another for a long moment, before something hooked into his gut and pulled him forward a step. Petri's face broke into a smile, his trust rekindled. He should never have questioned the Earth Mother!
"You have worked hard enough today," said Petri gently, resting the crown of flowers on the desk in front of her. "Your skin so pale you never feel warm daylight. Your eyes are sunk you stare so long at tiny letters. Your brow creased concentrating too much." He reached out and ran a feather light finger over her brow, smoothing out the line there. "The Earth Mother calls you, Anastasia. Say yes, for a little while," said Petri, his voice lowering slightly as he peered down at her. She was still beautiful, there was no doubt about it. But fatigue and worry had diminished the passionate light behind her eyes. The fire that usually burned there was mere embers. "Please?"
