September 2026 Summer was all but gone, and with permission of Bjorn she'd spent the entire summer aboard the ship. Perhaps at first the crew had been more restrained in their behaviour, as it was asked of them by the mere fact she was around. Yet the young lady that had been begging to be kept in the dark was gone. At first she just ignored the business that she knew she wasn't supposed to see. She'd talked to Bjorn about it and they'd agreed that if it didn't bother her, it was better not to burden the crew with efforts of secrecy if she was going to be aboard for such an extended period. But summer was almost gone and the new year started. The new term had started. There was no Hogwarts for her to teach at, and doubt had started to settle in. She'd begun to talk to the crew and slowly but surely had gained some skills that would make her a lot less of a piece of luggage and more of a member of the crew. She often helped out in preparing the food (when not distracted) and had taken it upon herself to do such things as mending the sails and clothes. Not to mention she cleaned because she actually enjoyed it. The ship probably looked almost ridiculously pristine during times of light sailing where most of Bjorns day was occupied otherwise. But it was time to start considering what to do later. During any sort of battle she was locked away and hidden, calmly waiting until it was safe again. At first she'd been worried, but she was used to it now. She just took up a book and read, ignoring any sounds that suggested fighting. She wasn't a fighter after all. That day she'd gotten a little... bored. Bjorn was quite busy with some sort of business she wasn't going to stick her nose in too deeply, so she'd opted to seek out somebody else. Somebody that she was fond off, in an odd sort of way. She wasn't sure what to think of Ri, but she knew he'd never been unkind to her. Sometimes that was enough. She knocked on the door behind which his distillery was located rather politely and waited. He was probably in there, and she was secretly curious to see if he'd be willing to give a small tour and educate her a little on the distilling process of moonshine in general. Not specifically his version, but more the general idea. It was bound to be interesting. @cashel

Ri hadn't cared much that Deva had been on the ship for the summer. In fact, he had taken his spare time often off of it when he could. He was sure the spend time with Renfri as much as he could. While on the ship, he maintained his usual work, mixing new moonshine in his newly secured distillery. This time it was ensured that only he and the captain could enter the room. A safety percussion that could have prevented his body from being badly burned previously. It wasn't strange to be put in charge of Deva's safety if Bjorn felt it necessary. The captain knew that Ri was fully trustworthy.
That day, Ri had been working on a particularly strong batch of his drink. It was mostly for his personal consumption, but while he was at it, he also worked on other batches for delivery. The room grew hot, and as he body normally ran hot on it's own, he worked only wearing pants and his cargo boots. Being like this or wearing a tank top or tight t-shirt was common for him in the hot months. When it got cold, he would often add a leather jacket when he felt he needed it. Ri had a habit of getting lost in his work, so it wasn't uncommon for someone to knock on the door that he was behind. He knew that it wasn't orders from Bjorn, or he would be hearing a crewmate yelling that the captain wanted to see him. It definitely wasn't Bjorn. He wasn't the type to knock. It could be someone knocking for dinner or that they docked. If that was the case, they would have already walked away. Though that didn't seem right. As such, Ri walked to the door and openned it up, allowing hot steam to escape. He was only a little surprised when his eyes met up with Deva.

It didn't take super long for the door to open, although a bit longer than she'd intially expected. She smiled as the door opened and the steam sort of... burst out. Well, as soon as she'd stepped back out of the punch of the steam she hadn't quite anticipated at first. It was most certainly hot in there, although the many tattoos that Ri had made it so that Deva failed to realise he wasn't wearing a shirt.
So she smiled a bit awkwardly and waved for a moment. "Hey Ri." She said, crossing her arms a bit nervously. It felt like a much worse idea now that she was actually there. "I was wondering if you're very busy? I'm kind of curious about how moonshine in general is made and I was hoping you'd be willing to explain?" Yes, exclude the tour, or at least for now. If he was willing to explain she could always ask if there was an option for a tour at a later point. If not, well at least she'd know. But for now she was mostly interested in the brewing process itself. She just hoped that Ri would indulge her a little.

The girl was always happy. Quite a different personality to that of the rest of the crew. Ri gave a nod of greeting to the girl. If Bjorn, the captain of the ship, was busy, it was no wonder that she would seek him out. It appeared that she was finally curious about his process. The thing about Ri's alcoholic concoction was that only he knew how to make it. While the process itself seemed simple, only Ri trusted himself to complete it correctly. The recipe itself was also a secret.
Ri looked at her for a time, thinking about his options, before giving a sigh and a nod. "Fine." He stated, fully opening the door to allow her in. The room contained three containers. The first was propped up and below it had a magically contained fire under it, a pipe moving from the top of the first container into the second. There was then an additional pipe leading to the third container that was also propped up, but with nothing underneath. The third container had a spigot that was in the closed position. There was a series of enchantments in them to help control and moderate the temperature. After all, that was the way to get the best result. "Look all you want." He stated. After opening the door, Ri moved back into the room and grabbed a dark colored tank top, pulling it over his softly damp skin.

Deva knew that Ri was a rather quiet sort of man. Quiet and patient, taking enough time to deliberate before taking a course of action. She had a feeling that he helped balance Bjorn out when the man got... temperamental. No matter how much she loved her future husband, it was rather obvious that he was a tiny bit of a hothead at times. It was nice to know there was somebody that helped balance him out a little when he got angry. Though she hadn't really seen him get angry ever since he'd managed to free her back in March. Just.. concerned, after the incident at the castle.
As Ri stepped aside to let her in, she briefly nodded before entering, the heat being quite intense. She attempted to ignore it, but she had a hunch that she was going to need a shower before the evening if she stayed in here very long. Not that it was a problem, but she wanted to make sure she would have the time. It seemed she wasn't quite capable of letting go of her more perfectionistic side. The one that wanted everything to be quite... clean and tidy. The rules be damned, but tidiness and personal hygiene were clearly another matter. She looked around the room curiously as she was in. She looked at the various devices for a moment. "I know just about nothing about how alcoholic beverages of any kind are made." She confessed as she looked at the contraptions. "I've made stews with beer and wine of course, but this is different. Could you maybe give me a general outline of how this stuff works?" She asked him rather hopefully. Maybe it would give her some ideas she could use in cooking? Although she wasn't planning on touching the magic mushrooms that Bjorn had once warned her about. The first time she'd consumed one of his drinks. She remembered that quite... vividly.

Well there we go. She was now in. Bjorn perhaps wouldn't be too thrilled that his woman was alone in a room with a male crew mate. But Ri had no inappropriate thought in his mind. And in all honestly, he only had eyes for Renfri now. Plus, the captain trusted Ri enough to stay close just in case the man became too angry and there was a potential of causing harm to another. Ri was a quiet man, and knew all too well when best to step in when those situations arose. In many ways, Ri and Bjorn complimented each other well. Perhaps it was for that reason that the two were such good friends. Worst case, Ri and Bjorn would get into yet another sparing match on deck.
Creating his alcohol used a combination of hot and cold, but when a magical fire was near constantly going, and only certain pipes enchanted to cool the vapers, the room tended to run quite hot. Ri never minded too much. He himself always seemed to have a higher temperature. Shelves filled with boxed mason jars, both full and not lined one wall, with other creates filled with ingredients, including the illegally procured magical mushrooms from his homeland Hy-Brasil. He watched the girl look around. It was no secret that he was protective of this room. Especially after the explosion incident. He trusted the woman, but just the idea of having someone else in the room gave him an on edge type of feeling. She admitted that she didn't know much about brewing alcohol, which Ri wasn't surprised about. Deva didn't seem the type. She seemed to want to know more, so he pointed at the first container. "Ingredients go in there, heat up," His finger followed the line of the pipe that moved into the second container. "steam moves into this, filled with water, then that steam moves" Again his line moving to the final one. "and cools here."
Ri wasn't much for long talks. His explanation short and simple. He moved to the final container, and twisted the screw on the spigot, liquid started to then fall into a container. "There you have it. The process is different for making wine though." Which he didn't talk much about, but due to his mother's heritage, he knew that process as well.
