PERSONALITY Excitable to all things music (magical and non-magical alike) and muggle, Lucia is determined to be perceived as a normal kid. Being a quarter-vampire – which is barely noticeable at times – she tries to keep that from holding her back. Other part-vampires she knows of have either fully embraced their lineage or tried to hide it, neither of which really appeal to her. Letting the vampire part of her blood hold her back from the things she wants to accomplish isn’t negotiable but she also has a deep respect for where it comes from and has no trouble talking to others like her. She despises having that held against her or her family, as well as with other vampires, and is extremely outspoken against anyone that is not educated on vampirism. At the same time, she understands that she has a very different experience from others that are full or half vampires, where stricter diets and laws are required. In school, Lucia prefers to do her own thing rather than solely focusing on what is being taught in her classes. Independence is extremely important to her and she would rather write papers on topics she’s interested and skirt the requirements than what the professor may actually want. Talking about things she likes, such as music, vampires, and magical communities around the world, is more fun for her than getting perfect grades. Falling into line for school was definitely one of the things that made her different when she attended Beauxbatons. Seeing the transfer Hogwarts students during her fourth year, she realized that she liked the freedom and work-life balance they had more than what the French school had to offer her. She has a deep passion for music, stemming from listening to her Nonna’s extensive vinyl collection and her stories of decades long past. She believes music is the best way to transfer cultures, having grown up with several very distinct ones, and then trying to adapt to French culture as well. The fastest way to becoming her friend is to talk to her about whatever is currently popular or bringing up deep cuts that very few would ever find interesting. Lucia can also be a little morbid at times. Blood doesn’t faze her in the slightest, and death is just another stage in life. Her time at Beauxbatons didn’t really prepare her for handling such heavy topics in real time, so her bluntness can definitely come across as insensitive if it gets brought up in conversation. ORIGIN & RELATIONS Horizont Alley, London Carolina Conti - mother, half-vampire witch Liam O’Sullivan – father, Ministry employee, half-blood lucrezia conti – grandmother, owner of Ripam de Sanguinem, full vampire, b.1947 Scraps – pet rat HISTORY The granddaughter to Ripam de Sanguinem’s vampire owner, Lucrezia Conti, Lucia was born in 2012 to Carolina Conti and Liam O’Sullivan, a half-blood Ministry employee. Growing up around the blood bank, vampires, and other normally nasty things, she sort of figured out for herself that it all wasn’t so bad, mostly because she didn’t know any better. Where other children her age in Horizont and Diagon Alley were learning to socialize with one another, she was busy talking to vampires coming to get their daily allotment of blood. Bouncing through the blood bank as a toddler was just another day for her. Lucia’s life so far has not been nearly as tumultuous as her new peers at Hogwarts nor her Nonna’s, thankfully. Spending all of her childhood in Horizont Alley near Ripam de Sanguinem, the most difficult part about it so far was when she ultimately was shipped off to attend Beauxbatons when the time for school came. Knowing that she would be separated from the other Alley kids was difficult at first, but the insistence to go somewhere safer than Hogwarts came from the adults in her family. Over the first couple years of school there, it became increasingly apparent that the decision in studying at the French school was a smart one. There were more than French-speaking students there as well, with the children of the current Italian ambassadors going. That made conversing a lot easier, having been taught the language simultaneously with English. What did remain relatively secret was that she was part-vampire. There wasn’t an exact reason behind being quiet about it, but she knew that not everyone viewed vampirism the same way that her family did. To most of the other students, Lucia was simply paler and burned easily whilst outside in the sun. And had slightly pointy teeth. Lots of people were like that, and it could also easily be blamed on her father being Irish. At the end of her third year, she returned home to a vastly different London. News had reached Beauxbatons about what had occurred at Hogwarts during the final month of school, but the actual changes that were to come the following year was not what she nor any of her classmates had anticipated. Having new classmates that she sort of knew from her summers at home was exciting, and she finally had a way to show some of them how cool Beauxbatons was. The only issue with this? Someone let slip about the blood bank and who she was related to. It wasn’t on purpose, at least she hadn’t thought it was, but a few of her French classmates reacted exactly how she expected: with disgust. They knew there was a difference between full vampires and part-vampires, though that didn’t matter anymore. Hiding their necks as she walked by or asking her if she filed her fangs down were only a few of the taunts. Lucia hated the double-standard that her Beauxbatons classmates had towards her lineage but towards those that were descended from veela, as if there was really any difference at the end of the day. The silver lining in all of this was that her new friends from Hogwarts didn’t seem to care at all. According to some of them, they had plenty of part-vampires, werewolves, part-goblins, you name it. That got her thinking by the end of the school year, about how going all the way to France every year was sort of ridiculous especially when a portion of the school wasn’t treating her right anymore. So when she got home, she begged to be able to transfer to Hogwarts when it reopened in the fall. Her parents were obviously hesitant, having sent her to Beauxbatons in the first place to avoid the horrors of Hogwarts, but they seemed to know there was also a point where they had to let her choose where she wanted to go to school. With September fast approaching, she has submitted all of the proper paperwork to transfer from Beauxbatons to Hogwarts, and couldn’t be happier! WANT AD
