ayla kısmet KARASU
WAND 12 ⅘ inches, apple wood, phoenix feather core, pliant
APPEARANCE The first thing to know about Ayla's appearance is that she is a Metamorphmagus and capable of adjusting her physical appearance at will, though she tends not to do anything too drastic unless it's for a role. Ordinarily, Ayla stands at 5'7" tall and has a thin build. She has naturally dark brown hair, but she keeps it a cherry red color the majority of the time while keeping her thick eyebrows dark brown. Her eyes are naturally blue, and she has fair skin and a sharp jawline. Additionally, her ears are pierced once on each earlobe. Ayla's style of dress could best be described as "bohemian". She tends to wear robes more often than Muggle clothing. When she wears more non-magical clothing, it's typically flowy dresses and skirts with plenty of accessories. | pronunciation EYE-luh Kis-MIT KUH-ruh-soo nickname Ay (like "eye") age & birthday 35 3 April 1992 gender & pronouns Cisgender female She/her pronouns blood status Half-blood sexuality Heterosexual face claim Aslıhan Güner | |||||||||||||||||||||||
PERSONALITY A talented actress and acting instructor, Ayla's personality could best be described as being creative and a little eccentric, especially relative to those who aren't in the entertainment industry. Although she might come across as flighty at first glance or as though her being a Metamorphmagus has given her an unfair advantage in her career, she is intelligent and well-spoken, having worked her way up to her current position at WADA. There is no doubt that Ayla is very dedicated to her work. Some might be surprised to find that she is actually a very strict teacher with her students at WADA, however. She knows what the entertainment industry is like firsthand, and she wants to prepare her students for the realities of it. Sometimes, that means that her guidance can sound harsh, but she would rather her students hear that honesty from her than from someone else down the line. Ayla has already achieved her greatest aspiration, which was to become a professional actress. Beyond that, she would like to see her daughter grow up happy, healthy, and successful in whatever she chooses to do in life. Meanwhile, her worst fear is that WADA's merger with Hogwarts has made it more of a target for Dark witches and wizards than before. Because she wasn't her parents' firstborn daughter, they thought they knew what to expect. They quickly realized their mistake, however, when they saw that Ayla's appearance would change slightly whenever she cried. It didn't take them long to figure out the reason: Their newborn was a Metamorphmagus. Given that Ayla was too young to control her abilities as a Metamorphmagus for much of her childhood, her parents made the decision that their mother would educate all of their children at home until it was time for them to attend Hogwarts. It worked out well from a practical standpoint, and it meant that they could do their part to protect the secrecy of the magical world. The Karasus didn't feel that they needed to hide Ayla away from the world, but they knew that they had to be cautious. Some underage magic could be easily explained away; color-changing hair or a different nose, especially on a child, couldn't be. Apart from being a Metamorphmagus, Ayla had a relatively normal childhood for a young witch. She was a pleasant little girl who enjoyed close relationships with her parents and siblings. She loved to play make-believe with her siblings (when she could rope them into doing so) and her toys. Whether she was playing house or setting up a "classroom" to teach her toys what she had been learning, it was fun to pretend to be someone else and imagine the possibilities for her life when she grew up. As her older sister Leyla before her, Ayla attended Hogwarts upon turning eleven. Once there, the Sorting Hat placed her in Hufflepuff House, where she happily joined her peers. She was a bit of a non-conformist, but she was a perfectly average student from an academic standpoint. To make up for her averageness, though, Ayla had her hair. By that time, she could control her abilities as a Metamorphmagus enough that she had learned how to change her hair color at will. Intentionally switching through the colors of the rainbow got her attention from her classmates and teachers—and occasionally detention for being disruptive—and Ayla found that she enjoyed it. She liked knowing that she was able to keep people entertained. It made school far more interesting than it would have been otherwise. Ayla grew older with time and began to mature as a student. Realizing that she could make a career out of her desire to entertain people by becoming an actress, she set her sights on the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts by the end of her third year at Hogwarts. It was plenty of time to prepare herself for WADA, especially since she didn't have much opportunity to show off her skills as an actress at Hogwarts. Although she passed her OWLs and NEWTs with better marks in Charms and Transfiguration than anything else, Ayla's primary focus in her seventh year at Hogwarts was on making it to WADA. She had no idea what she would do with her life if she didn't get in, and she put forth as much effort as she could when it was time for her audition. Ayla left the audition feeling that she had done poorly, so she was certain that she had gone and ruined any chance she might have had of achieving her dream. To her great relief, Ayla was accepted to WADA to study acting after all, and she knew that she wasn't going to mess up the opportunity that she had been given. She proceeded to check out as many relevant books as she could find from the Hogwarts library before the end of her seventh year, eager to begin her training as an actress. (By that point, she was already less concerned about her upcoming NEWT examinations.) The following autumn, Ayla began her studies at WADA, where she quickly learned that she could make use of her being a Metamorphmagus to transform into different characters without the need for potions or cosmetics. Changing her appearance was one thing; making it believable was another, but that came with time. Whereas Ayla was only ever an average student at Hogwarts, she excelled at WADA and found her niche. She did very well in her training and emerged from it as an exceptional theatre actress, finding roles in productions throughout wizarding Britain and Ireland. It was during a production of one of Malécrit's plays at the Phoenix Theatre that Ayla reconnected with a former classmate of hers at WADA who had been in the year above her at Hogwarts. Aneurin Lloyd was a Welsh Muggle-born wizard who had always seemed to Ayla to be plain and not very interesting, to tell the truth. The two of them were paired romantically in the production, and that led to their spending more and more time with one another outside of rehearsals, too. Once the show had finished its run, Ayla and Aneurin took their romance offstage. They dated, taking things slow at first. Both of them were working actors, so they had other things to consider apart from their relationship. That didn't stop them from getting engaged and then marrying, though, a few years later. With their respective careers more established a few years into the future after that, the couple felt more secure in starting a family of their own. Ayla got pregnant, and she continued to work through most of her pregnancy. Their daughter, Imogen, was born a Metamorphmagus like her mother, which thrilled Ayla but also terrified her because of her husband's Muggle background. Juggling parenting and two separate acting careers became a real challenge for Ayla and Aneurin. Jointly, they made the decision that Ayla would step away from acting and that Aneurin would remain as the breadwinner, but Ayla soon found an even better opportunity. WADA was hiring for the Lead Acting Tutor, and she wound up with the job. Teaching at WADA felt like a full-circle moment. As soon as Ayla quit pinching herself to prove that it really was happening, she got to work. Appreciative of the stability that having a position at WADA provided her when it came to raising her daughter, Ayla didn't mind going the extra mile for her colleagues or her students. After a few years as Lead Acting Tutor at WADA, Ayla was promoted to Director of Actor Training. Though she was pleased to be the director of the very same program from which she had graduated, she had some significant concerns about it, too. For one thing, WADA was preparing to merge with a rebuilt Hogwarts. Despite having attended Hogwarts herself, Ayla was against the merger. WADA had been spared the violence that had affected Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic—and much of the rest of the magical community, to be frank—over the previous years, and Ayla didn't want to risk anything more serious happening. Her experience at Hogwarts had been a positive one, but that wasn't the case historically. Especially when some of her students were still scarred from Elaine Dupree's destruction of Hogwarts, the last thing that Ayla wanted to do was to send them back into that mess. Out of convenience, she and her husband begrudgingly enrolled their daughter in the new wizarding primary school, MYSTIC, since Ayla would be teaching a stone's throw away. She has tried to go into this new phase of WADA's history with an open mind, but she can't help feeling that something will go horribly wrong. WANT AD
