APPEARANCE tori stands at a good 5’8, taller than her younger sister, but probably middle-range when it comes to her brothers. She looks pretty much exactly like her play-by/face claim, except for an Ouroboros tattoo on her left hand, and eventually she’ll tattoo over her heart a heart with a flaming arrow with her lover’s name through it. | pronunciation vec-twah-ruh nim-fah-door-rah whee-zlay nickname tori, vicky, vic age & birthday 26 second may 2001 gender & pronouns female, she/hers blood status half-blood (1/8th veela) sexuality bisexual (prefers guys) face claim maddie hasson | |||||||||||||||||||||||
PERSONALITY Tori seems like your classic golden girl on the surface, but in reality, is simply just a broken bird who tries to keep her composure. She’s more of an ambivert than an extrovert, willing to make friends, but not necessarily to be the center of attention. Tori hates having all of the limelight on her, and especially hates gossip, especially around her sudden step-down from the Minister position. Both during her schooling and even somewhat in her adult life, she was highly respected by her coworkers, close friends, and peers, and always felt like she had that “perfect pressure” from both her parents and her peers beaming down on her. Tori’s always been the one who excels at everything, from Quidditch to academics to her adult life with her job now as the Assistant Department Head of the Department of Mysteries, and formerly Minister of Magic. She hates this, however, and wishes she could just live normally. She’d do anything to trade places with her sister Dominique, and wishes to do so. She just wants to open a bar and live a normal life, but always seems to have found a special calling within the Ministry. Now, the broken bird trope I mentioned earlier. She hasn’t actually suffered anything too traumatic, but it’s the fact that her life is/was perfect that has broken her due to all of the mental pressure. She desperately has wanted her sister to gain her own shadow, to completely step away from it all, that she has never been free. She’s been confined to a box, and the mental effects on it have shown over the years. She has a mild fear of swimming, diving, and anything to do with the ocean from the time she was young, it’s mainly irrational and stems from when she tried playing in the water when she was younger. She also has a major fear of blood, will pass out if she sees it, and a more mild fear of bees, because she’s deathly allergic. Her first name means “victory” in French, as the BoH was indeed a victory over the greatest evil the modern Wizarding World had ever known. Her middle name was given after Nymphadora Tonks, one of the greatest Aurors of the generation, and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Her early childhood was pretty happy and carefree, with all of her cousins, aunts, and uncles by her side. She was pretty close with nearly all of them, those as to who were her lifelong friends is entirely up to discussion. Tori was always the perfect girl, she never rough-housed, never strayed outside the lines. She always hung out with the adults, and was prim, proper, and poised. She was the family’s golden girl. When it came to her sister, Dominique, Tori never thought she was better than her, no matter what Dominique herself thought. She always thought Nicki was the free one, the one that had all of the chances, but she never was jealous of her. The one thing that they didn’t get along on was Tori’s apparent hate of Christmas, maybe because she was allergic to pine needles, maybe because she didn’t like everyone doting over her. Whatever it was, she hated it. Victoire was always obsessed with the unknown, the peculiar, the mysterious from a young age. She was highly curious and intelligent, and so therefore it wasn’t a shocker when she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Despite not being a Gryffindor, her family was still proud of her, considering it took her a week to shop for her wand and textbooks. Her entire family was probably brought along for the ordeal. Her first few years were filled with fake friends and studying. She was pretty popular among the Ravenclaws, or at least, accepted by the popular. She never really considered many people her friends, except for the people who actually cared about school and learning, and kept to herself most days. She was an excellent student, as expected of a Ravenclaw, but without nearly as much ambition as her sister. She was sort of like, sorry to pull a pop culture reference, a female Aaron Burr: “talk less, smile more. Don’t let them know what you’re against, or what you’re for.” Her fifth year, she was appointed Prefect, which she, for the only time in her life, bragged to her sister about. She was overjoyed, but also didn’t want to make Nicki feel bad. She started to try and reconnect with her sister, despite her being a 1st year, and so lost some popularity as a result. She didn’t seem to mind. In her latter years, her last two years, she was Ravenclaw Keeper, but never seemed to be truly into the sport. She kept her Prefect position until she graduated. Graduation comes around, and at the advice of her DADA professor, Vic takes an internship in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. She pretty much hated it, outside of a few of her co-workers, and mainly did grunt work or menial paperwork that she, personally, thought was way below her league. However, she did learn some fascinating things about being an Auror from the few people who were actually decent to her….and discovered that it MOST CERTAINLY was not the thing for her. Eventually, through a friend of hers and more than a few connections, Tori was shot up to become the Junior Assistant to the Minister, about 7 months later. While this also mainly consisted of grunt work, she still learned a good deal about the Ministry, and how far it had come from the days of her parents. She (assumingely) became good friends with both the Undersecretary and Minister Reynolds, though for sure the Undersecretary more than the Minister, and seemed to always speak fondly of the people there. After the Undersecretary suddenly stepped down, later revealed to have passed away of cancer, Vic was promoted to being the Undersecretary. Now….this job was fun for her. She loved managing people, not in a malicious way, but to finally feel important/valued in someone’s work life was nice for her. She, I’m assuming, became closer with the Minister than she had during her previous job, but the extent as to which is entirely up to discussion (considering he’s dead). Vic was absolutely shocked beyond belief when her boss was suddenly murdered, like any rational human being would. She may or may not may have still been investigating into his death for at least a few months after, but suddenly and before she knew it: she was Minister of Magic, after only three years of working within the Ministry. Sure, she might have mentioned interest, okay, fine, who WOULDN’T want the job? Everyone was saying the position was cursed, and she appeared in her eyes to be the only one brave and qualified enough to do it, so here she was. Her short reign as Minister was best described in three words: interim sweet bliss. She tried her best to be a fair Minister, to balance between opening up Wizard-Muggle relations and also keeping certain aspects of the Wizarding World as secret as possible. She did not pry into people’s personal lives. She did not blackmail, she did not cheat, she did not lie, she was easily one of the least-corrupt Ministers the population had seen in quite a bit of time. Or, at the very least, she was no Umbridge. Eventually, her health started to fall into a brief decline, for she had been diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. She started being able to perform her duties less often and less to the caliber of which she was expected of. After her popularity in the polls started to drop, she resigned after about 11 months in office. It was a bittersweet parting for her, but she trusted Hermione, and it was one she needed to do. She took a break of all of two weeks to recover, before being back at it. She applied for and received a job in the department of her dreams: the Department of Mysteries, in the Death Chamber, from hence on being referred to as an Unspeakable. She had originally applied for the Love Chamber, but they gave her the Death Chamber. She started to become obsessed with her new job, and I mean obsessed. She was treated nicely, if a little subserviently, by her co-workers due to her past experience, but she was good at her job. The only thing she DESPISED was her boss. She hated him, if you asked her. He was an annoying shitty jackass, and she wanted him gone. She spent most of her days in the Chamber, trying to avoid him as much as possible. But she loved the job overall, despite the shitty boss and death. Also….not being able to talk about it. But she always kept her lips sealed. Now, unfortunately, a horrific tragedy would occur just to hammer Vic’s life in the metaphorical coffin. She wasn’t particularly close to now-Minister Granger, being an Unspeakable now and all, despite having spent quite a bit of time with her when she was younger. She had indeed decided to attend the fateful Quidditch match that day, but by pure luck, chose to sit on the opposite side of the stadium from the fireworks, with her old buddies from her Undersecretary job. Therefore, she was not injured, but she knew many were that day, including her aunt. This had a great mental impact on her, and she finally started considering the concept of death as something real….not just experimented on. And, don’t forget that this is less than a week after Elaine Dupree is supposedly killed by Aurors… Eventually, two years later, her work wishes were granted when her boss got the boot. After praying for a silent hallelujah, this would come in two parts. The second part being that….she was now the new Assistant Department Head. Sure, she didn’t meet the experience requirements, but this woman was a fair, honest, responsible and reliable woman. What’s to say she couldn’t do it? The only mortifying part about it all….was that her now-ex-boss had apparently been in on the plot to help destroy Hogwarts. Vic, more than a bit mortified and terrified, now started to believe that her co-workers were in on it too. She started to withdraw more from them, now thinking that everyone around her was entirely in on Elaine Dupree’s plan, and she also was not one inclined to believe that Dupree had indeed been killed by Aurors, paranoia aside. Even as Assistant Department Head, some of her subordinates do like to say she’s a bit less detached from her co-workers than she was before. Even her actual boss was concerned for her well-being, though she always brushed it off. As the Assistant Department Head, she’s been those same qualities that they selected her for, at least….most of the time. She’s had a few mental breakdowns, been diagnosed with severe anxiety and mild depression, and takes meds for the former, but other than that, she’s perfectly fine. Her subordinates and boss seem to like her, despite her aloofness, she seems to be fine. She’s pretty subservient to the Head, but can be a bit lax when it comes to her subordinates. At the end of the day, however, she knows she deserves this job. But how long before the calm before the storm has passed? WANT AD
