”I need to move out,” Lily said abruptly. It had only been a year and a half since she graduated, but she was behind by a year compared to her peers. That occasionally hurt when she really thought about it. Gone were her aspirations to play Quidditch and she was stuck at the joke shop. Which was totally fine with her, because it was fun, and she enjoyed working with her uncles to come up with and sell new products. It definitely fit her more than zooming around on a broom did, as much as she did miss that. Too much time had passed now since she last played to give it a try again. There were plenty of top-tier young players that easily blew by her in skill. ”Then I could buy all of the Vertic Alley plushies I wanted. I don’t think mum would care if my bed had more, but it does kind of become a hassle when I have to put them back every morning.” She never used magic to do it, for whatever reason, and every night she pushed them all off into a pile on the floor. Her favorite was a giant shark she found at a muggle furniture store. It was bigger than she was.
”Where were going again?” she asked, before immediately remembering, ”The Violet Hound! Right.” They were only around the corner too, but she had the short-term memory of a fish. ”I ever tell you how I thought it was called the Violent Hound for the longest time?” Lily had repeated that exact line to so many people now, she wasn’t sure if Rose had heard it from her before or not. Having conversations that lasted longer than a few seconds at the counter were hard to come by these days. She took everything that she could get now.
