Sometimes Alfie couldn't help but be a complete idiot. Time after time he failed to realize that his alcohol fueled affections ultimately affected his every day life. Esther was a firsthand example of that. Their friendship, and relationship in general, had gone through turbulent times due to alcohol and other substances. He was still in denial of that. But one thing he knew was that he cared more for Esther than anyone in his life and his loyalty to her would always be true.
Alfie hoped tonight wouldn't be one of those hazy times. When he looked at Alora with an inebriated grin, his stomach flipped in the most pleasant of ways. He wanted to kiss her...and much more. One moment Alfie and Alora were dancing to Frank Sinatra, the next, the pair were sharing an intoxicating kiss. A couple of moments passed as their lips meshed. It was magical and fireworks went off within his core.
Alora tensed up and pulled away, resting into his shoulder. He was quiet for a moment unsure of what to say in his daze. Reality set in. "I-I'm sorry. I don't know if I should have done that." he explained in an apology, his face softening. But something in his voice and demeanor said he wasn't sorry... The taste of Alora settled on his lips and he was instantly addicted, yearning for more. When he matched her gaze, his hands dropped to his sides, swallowing hard, unsure what he should do next as everything suddenly moved in slow motion.

As close and cosy as they had become throughout the night; all of this still caught Alora off guard. Had she been unknowingly holding a special place in her heart for this floppy haired fellow Herbology nerd? Yes, but the kiss had still quickened her heart and caused the warm drunkenness in her to ebb away. Slightly sharper in mind now, she watched him give her a hazy grin, and returned it with her own heartfelt version. He'd seen her looking her worst; covered in dirt and sweat, mucking out the greenhouses. He saw her now with her glasses on and hair piled high on her head in hr comfy clothes. And still he looked at her like she was all dressed up. She didn't like to admit it but Alora had rather missed having anyone look at her in that way. More than wine was driving her want to stay with him. Amber eyes locked on him, waiting to try and decide what she should do next. As she stood, she subconsciously ran her fingers over his own, still locked together. Nibbling at her lip, her head lolled to the side, surveying him some more. When he eventually spoke, stuttering out an apology she rolled her eyes slightly, the sharpness retreating again. A warm smile played on her lips. "No you're not. Don't pretend to be sorry old man" There was no more hesitation in her body then as she teased him with her go to taunt in a quiet rumble of laughter. Combined with the few years between them in age, Alfie being older, and him having a classic old man name; Alora loved poking fun at him by calling him an old man. Closing the distance between them again became effortless as she stepped in and resumed her position against his chest. So looking him in the eye after that bold move was off the table as she felt her cheeks flare again, but it was easy to hide it when she bundled herself so close to him and let herself pick up moving to the low music once again. Slowly her arms crept around his neck to pull herself even closer in to him. A feeling ripped through her and she found herself trying to push it away to a darker corner of her mind where she wouldn't have to face it; she wanted to be closer with him. To be impossibly close. To stay here and just forget the world would be so easy; in their herbology nerd bubble with wine and charcuterie and some gorgeous music playing in the background. After a moment of silence, a content sigh left her and her fingers found their way to play with the hair at the base of his neck. "I'm not sorry either y'know..."alfie edward o'callaghan

There was a slight feeling of dread as he realized this moment would change everything between them. Alora alleviated his anxiety immediately, wrapping her arms around his neck to pull him closer. She teased him, telling him he wasn’t sorry and revealing that she wasn’t either. That was a bold move for Alora but completely welcomed since he wasn’t quite sure how to face those feelings yet. Everything was happening so fast, and they were both very drunk. He'd enjoy the intimate moment with her though.
Alfie's arms enveloped around Alora's waist, accepting the invitation to pull her closer into his bubble. He laughed, ”Yeah. You're onto me. I'm not sorry..” he admitted easily with a shrug, unable to surpass the chuckle as he smiled. His hand raised to gently tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, ”I think we're beyond keeping this "professional". We've been for a while now..” Alfie's gaze softened, willing to come to terms with it now that they seemed to be on the same page. Alcohol eased those feelings too.
Alfie met her gaze carefully, fully prepared to kiss her again as he assessed the situation.

The tips of her fingers played with the dregs of hair at the nape of his neck as her cheeks only warmed further. It felt pretty scandalous being this close to Alfie in this way, and yet, it felt so perfect. It was as bold as Alora had ever been likely in her whole life, but Alfie seemed to appreciate it. They had said they would keep things professional after they first met and had fell into bed together, but things had never truly been that way. There had always been a spark, something that drew her closer to him than she would have liked. Time had passed since Sam had broken her heart and pulled her to pieces, but since meeting Alfie she had started to feel all those little pieces of herself snap back into place. She hadn't even held the fact he was American against him. Of course, it helped that they shared so many of the same interests, but aside from that for Alora there was just a little undeniable spark there that couldn't be ignored. The physical sense of his warm body pulling her closer only set it off more. She felt him shift slightly to duck his head and meet her gaze. As he paused to fiddle with her hair and tuck it back, she slowly opened her eyes again, finally ready to meet his gaze with her own. Her expression was wary, unsure of what ways things were going to move next. Alfie was speaking and she found herself nodding along in a mesmerised state. She knew she should likely say something in response, but she saw his eyes dart to her lips, knew he wanted to kiss he again. She nodded again, this time in acknowledgment of what he said. "I know" with an almost half laugh she was quiet again, her gaze dropping away and a sheepish smile crossing her face. "After my ex I sort of swore myself off men. Especially American men. I didn't want to get into all that again. Risk it all, again. Get hurt like that, again." pausing to take a breath, she felt her cheeks flush again. "But I can't help be sort of drawn to you and it makes me feel like an idiot Alfie..." rolling her eyes, she stepped away' now the words came tumbling out effortlessly. Almost babbling she had no control over the word vomit. She was likely less drunk than him, but she was still fuzzy enough for dutch courage to take over. Still avoiding his gaze she stood back about a foot and ran her fingers through her hair just for something to focus on "I catch myself looking at you and thinking about wanting to run my fingers thought your hair. And I have to physically make myself look away. Or else I find myself daydreaming in class, looking forward to hanging out with you that evening, meeting you for dinner. Or smiling like a dope because I know you're coming up after school to help me in the greenhouses. And I get mad at myself. For letting myself fall for someone again and act like such an idiot. And I realise I'm just spewing all this out and I probably shouldn't be because wow this definitely crosses a line between professional, but-" stopping herself she eventually took a breath and made herself look him in the eye, despite her flushed cheeks "But yeah, that's it I guess. Ok I'll definitely leave now I've said all that wow okay" Snapping herself out of her stupor, she moved to try and find her shoes and her coat in a frazzled. alfie edward o'callaghan

Alora poured her heart out to him, leaving him speechless. Her heartfelt confession was completely unexpected. His stomach filled with warmth, suddenly wishing to pull her into his arms to declare his own feelings to her. But suddenly there was a shift in the room. Panic suddenly settled upon her face, unsure what to do with herself. Alfie could tell that she instantly regretted it. The redhead turned on her heel, collecting her things and starting for the door.
His hazel eyes widened, eyebrows furrowing out of confusion on why she wanted to leave now. "No. Uh. Why?" he asked quickly, stepping toward the redhead. "Alora, stop-" Alfie reached for her hand to pull her back gently. "Please-" he begged, attempting to meet her gaze.
His eyes fell on hers, deciding what to say. Alfie was never good with these things. Relationships and deep rooted feelings were some of his weakest point. His heart sank to his stomach, hands going sweaty, "I-I-fucking suck at these things." he admitted drunkenly, trying to get Alora to listen to him. "I feel the same, Alora." Alfie confessed to her, reaching for her hands. "Stay." he requested, stepping forward and capturing her lips in his to make her.
