The more time that Gilderoy spend in the ministry as an Auror in training the less he felt it was what was for him. For the longest time he had dreamed of being the hero of some story. Saving people’s lives and living in the spotlight. Yet, all these dreams were inspired by his father. Who had turned out to be a fraud all along? After looking back into the stories he had written about his life as well as other information. Gilderoy questioned how he couldn’t have seen it himself. Just maybe if he had looked a little deeper he could have seen this coming. Not being surprised by an article in the daily prophet. To be fair most had always said his father was a liar and Gilderoy had just ignored it. If his father hadn’t lost his memory which still was in shambles even today he could have asked him for the truth. Yet, his father hardly remembered where he was at the moment let alone what had happened years ago.
What he needed to do was figure out where his life was headed. If he was questioning what he was doing even as a trainee what would it be like when he was a full-fledged Auror? It also felt like it was too late to be questioning these kinds of things. Gilderoy had been so set on becoming an Auror for the longest time. To just give it up now felt a little wrong. Besides what exactly would he do if he stopped following this path? It wasn’t like he had a list of other career choices he wanted to follow. What if he was just feeling sorry for himself for allowing his father's deeds to go unnoticed by him for so long? Not even going unnoticed, Gilderoy had blindly believed it all for so long. It was all coming to a head now as he questioned his very goals in life.
Gilderoy was following just about every cliché when it came to question his place in the world. Even now he sat at the bar of the leaky cauldron drowning his wavering thoughts in alcohol. “Another fire whisky,” Gilderoy ordered as he finished his last glass.
