After a long day of classes, James was ready to unwind in front of the common room fire. Upon entering the near empty common room, as most Gryffindors were still at dinner, James lazily walked over to the crimson couch in front of the fireplace and immediately dropped his sack of school things to the ground. He plopped himself down upon the couch and let out a sigh, as the majority of his long body hung off of the front end as he sank into the cushions. He felt as if he could fall asleep right then. However, it was still quite early and unfortunately he had some work to do. He glared at the sack of books in front of him, wishing he could just throw it into the fire and hop on his broomstick out of his dormitory window and leave Hogwarts.
But Mum wouldn't like that. Ginny Potter was very hard on James academically. Harry was a little more leniant, as Harry himself had been quite the procrastinator, what with his own Quidditch career. James supposed his father saw a lot of himself in James, and for that James was thankful that he had at least one person on his side. He didn't want to disappoint either of his parents though, so for the time being, it was best for James to stay in school.
James wanted to travel the world, though. See dragons in the wild. Visit other large places and meet other witches and wizards like himself. He wanted to travel and see the world, but his parents, namely his mother, thought he could do better than that. James didn't want to tell her that he was going to just do it anyway when he was done with school, he figured he would just make her happy for the time being and leave plenty of room for disappointment later. James was, on the other hand, getting a little bit of elbow room from his parents considering what he went through the first night to Hogwarts. Seeing a dead student was traumatizing, as it was his first experience with a dead body. Seeing the first year girl reminded him of his sister, Lily.
Lily. Sweet Lily. James loved both of his siblings dearly, but he and Lily are closer with one another than they are with Albus. Both in Gryffindor and on the Quidditch team, so both had more to relate on than they did with Albus, who had been sorted into Slytherin. James still loved Albus just as much as Lily, he just felt like he could tell Lily more. In fact, James found himself wishing that his little sister was here right now, so that he could talk to her about their short time at Hogwarts so far. He stared into the fire, figuring if he waited long enough he would see her enter through the portrait hole. However, he didn't anticipate falling asleep...

The day for Lily was quite long. She let out a yawn and realizing that she was tired. She wanted to go hit the hay from the moment she woke up. In one of her classes though she was having a bad day. She felt like she couldn't get anything right. Every little thing she did the potion wasn't going right. She once made it explode in her face which just made her feel even worst than she already had. And in another she couldn't get the spell to work right and kept getting frustrated where she wanted to chuck the object out the window and never retrieve it. But she didn't. She figured her mother would be upset with her if she had done that and she didn't want to disappoint her mother. Not that she was really tough on her but she wanted her to do good. Her father on the other hand kept telling her to take her time and not push herself to hard.
She had the tendency to push herself way to hard. At one point that day she decided to skip one of her classes and went up to the Room of Requirement and fell asleep on the couch that had appeared in a small room. She had figured if she had taken a small nap the rest of the day would go better. But she was wrong because she didn't sleep very well when she had fallen asleep. It was pointless and had showed up late for Divination. The next thing she knew was that she fell asleep right there in class and had woken up to people who were laughing at her snoring.
She was glad though when dinner had came around. She sat there talking aimlessly to her best friends and talked about her day and what not. As soon as they were done though they decided to go out for a little stroll around the grounds before they were told to go to their dorms for the night. She was having fun the last part of the day. And she was glad that the end of the day was going better than the first part of the day. She looked at the time and had realized they might as well go to their own dorms. She had wished that a couple of them were in her dorm. Even though she did have one accompany her up to the Gryffindor Dorm due to the fact that she was a Gryffindor.
"And to my dismay they heard me snoring right there in class can you believe it?" She asked her friend as they walked into the dorm room. "Hey James how's it going?" She asked when she saw her oldest brother. "Hey I'll catch up to you later I'm going to hang with my big brother." She told her friend whom just nodded and left her there with her big brother. "How was your day?" She asked her oldest brother as she walked over and that's when she realized that he looked like he was asleep. "Awe my brother is sleeping how cute." She said with a smile upon her face and sat down next to him. "Wake up Sleeping Beauty we got to have our sibling time." She said with a smile upon her face.

For once in the last couple of nights, James was able to fall asleep without having any sort of dream or nightmare that included the muggleborn girl that had been killed. Unfortunately, he was on the couch and he wouldn't have lasted the night. Someone would have come along to wake up or disturb him. But fortunately, as he felt someone or something moving a cushion beside him, his eye flashed open and he snapped his around to the side to look at that person with wide eyes. It was his little sister, smiling sweetly at him. Obviously she had seen that he was asleep.
"Lil," he yawned, setting up straight and stretching his arms. He was quite tired, as he hadn't really slept peacefully since arriving at Hogwarts. "What's up? He asked, his arms leaning on the back of the chair as he reclined comfortably now. James always enjoyed his talks with his sister, and he was glad that he had at least one sibling in his house. Sometimes he wished Albus had been sorted into Gryffindor as well, but realized his sorting into Slytherin was probably for the best. It was because of Albus's being a Slytherin that James had changed his viewpoint on many Slytherins, not being so quick to harshly judge them as he used to be. He found that not all were as bad as they seemed.
He smiled at Lily, doing his best to hide how tired he really was. James would rather skip the sleep if it meant having to talk to Lily. She was one of his best friends, and James and Lily shared almost everything with one another. He wouldn't miss a hang out session with Lil for anything.
