The scary part about Rue’s comment on picking up potion making was that they were probably right. Nova, for better or worse, handled instructions like the professional she was. Baking was essentially the same as potion making, just utilizing chemical combinations between food ingredients instead of with magic. How her ‘ability’ fit into all of that, since it was most certainly magical in nature, she still wasn’t clear on yet. Apparently, it didn’t modify the non-magical ingredients at all and instead put them in the parameters required to perfectly make them. It was sort of frustrating at times, because she didn’t know how to fully explain it whenever someone asked.
While she would have loved to dwell on her ability to probably perfect potion making with an actual, albeit most likely illegal, potioneer, Rue’s next comment about their tolerance was more interesting. Nova’s eyebrows furrowed. So was this all a test to see if she could make something that could possibly get Rue high again? She had sort of thought that was the general trajectory of the request in the first place, but she never wanted to go too far with her assumptions either. ”Well, I guess we’ll see then. I don’t honestly know if I can add any more than I already have, so if this doesn’t cut it, then we’ll be back to square one.” That did get her wondering what else could be made with such a high concentration that wasn’t bordering on dangerous. Nova really didn’t want her friend to be in such a state that mediwizards needed to be called. This was supposed to be for fun after all.
The Cheetos seemed to be a score, and Nova held the bag out for Rue to take. ”Its sort of satisfying having to lick the orange dust off your fingers when you’re done eating them.” She refused to call it cheese, because she was fairly certain that it wasn’t. Everything about the snack screamed artificially made, and Nova still hadn’t looked at the ‘nutrition’ label. Mostly because there was nothing nutritious about the ‘cheese’ puffs. But an Inferius would have to pry them from her cold, dead hands to make her ever give them up. Especially whilst high.
”I view it as advanced cooking. Mostly because cooking a meal can be as difficult or as easy as you want to make it. Baking almost always requires all of the ingredients to specifically get it to work correctly,” Nova added on. ”And then I see potion making as even higher than that. Because that’s more a pass or fail situation in a lot of cases.” And also because she could mess up a potion. It was almost impossible for her to do so with cooking and baking.
Rue said that either was fine with them, and Nova nodded her head as she checked her phone to see how much longer the chocolate needed. Two more minutes. ”You’re assuming you’ll have them,” she laughed. ”I definitely will, if this doesn’t knock me out first.”
