Simon spent an ungodly amount of time in the shower, allowing the steam to sober him up. Feeling sober didn’t make him feel better though, not when his heart was aching. Deep down he could see the end of the road with Luna, a dead end. Maybe Luna was right all along, love wasn’t good enough. Still feeling angry about everything, he finally emerged from the steamy bathroom and changed into a fresh shirt and joggers. Simon chugged two glasses of water before he passed out sprawled out the living room sofa. LUNA LACHESIS TRELAWNEY

Early morning light streaked through the slightly open curtains in the bedroom Luna and Simon shared. Luna squeezed her eyes shut tighter, even as she was dragged unwillingly back into consciousness. She cracked an eye, squinting against the slanting sunlight, and reached out beside her. Perhaps she'd been too harsh on Simon - but her nerves were so frayed lately. The bed next to her was cold. Her eyes opened fully now, and she frowned at the empty space beside her. Simon hadn't come to bed.
Heart sinking, Luna sat up. She rubbed her arms, feeling a swell of emotion. Her lips puckered as she tried to hold back the tide of sadness. Taking a deep breath, Luna scrubbed her face and rose from the bed. She dressed in silence, before taking a moment to brush her teeth. Simon's toothbrush was still here, so he hadn't left her alone last night. Quietly, Luna padded back into the living room and found Simon snoring on the sofa. One leg hung off the arm, and he looked incredibly uncomfortable. He'd rather this than bed with her?
Nostrils flaring, Luna fixed herself a glass of water, sipping it as she mused morosely over the past twenty four hours. She couldn't pinpoint the exact moment when everything had begun to go wrong. She set her glass down and decided she needed air. Nothing was going to resolve itself, especially with the roiling emotions in her chest as she considered how bloody stubborn Simon was. Without looking back at her boyfriend, Luna swung open the front door, letting it slam behind her as she went out for a long, thoughtful walk.
