The awesomeness of magic was never lost on Nova; her entire life relied on it in a very specific way that wasn’t necessarily available to most. She was well aware that others, especially in school, were jealous of her innate talent, a rare trait that only seemed to exist within the Vector family (and even then, only appeared once per generation). All Nova wanted to do was bake. Being able to share that with Idele, even if it was just the more mundane parts of the entire process, had given her more pep in her step today. After constantly being dragged down by Harmony over her chosen path in life, it felt amazing to finally have one of her younger siblings acknowledge that she wasn’t merely ‘taking over the family business’, as if it was something expected of her like it seemed to be with so many others in their community. The difference was that Nova wanted this because she enjoyed it. It had served as her safe space away from her father and Harmony, and now she was hoping she could maybe provide the same for Idele, assuming she wanted that too.
Watching her sister carefully as she continued checking the morning’s bread loaves, Nova didn’t hide the smile that popped onto her face as the trays began levitating as she had instructed. She had found that using simple charms for more complicated tasks came easier when doing them practically like this. Classroom exercises were fine, of course, but there was a limit to them. The creativeness of magic only existed once one graduated from school and entered the real world. Nova felt like she had learned more since she had left Hogwarts than she had during her seven years there.
”How confident do you feel that you can do it with bread on it?” she responded in turn as Idele seemed to have finished her assigned task. ”Like just hovering it over the counter here? The extra weight should give you a better idea of what its normally like.” Nova flicked her wand and one of the trays holding fresh loaves of bread zoomed over and gently set itself down in front of her sister. ”Try that one now.”
