▲ Well, James definitely wasn’t wrong about her curiosity, that was for sure. Every single one of their encounters had always devolved into her asking a million questions or showing him something that mainlanders didn’t normally experience. Curiosity was part of who she was. And now she was curious about him. So, in a way, how she had described her hair color was pretty accurate to how she was currently feeling. ”Definitely not embarrassed,” she confirmed, though it would have been a completely different story without the wine they had been drinking. The Wormwood wine gave her strength where she didn’t know she was lacking it, and tonight was no different. ”It is also the wine,” she laughed, trying not to move too much so that the whole hammock didn’t shake as they were still in the middle of their balancing act. ”You did not tell me that you were clairvoyant. I was just thinking about having more-“ She stopped talking as she leaned in and kissed her. Fae had never thought she was that easy to read, though it also wasn’t like she was being cryptic about what her goal here was. James seemed to have picked up on that without her having to explicitly tell him. The amount of time that it lasted before she pulled away to breathe was uncountable. A long strand of hair that had fallen onto her face was rapidly shifting between pink, orange and red. Her hand found the side of his face as she smiled back at him. ”What if I said I invited you because I was hoping this would happen?” Getting him here during his time off, orchestrating an early departure from the festival, making sure they would be the only ones wandering the path back towards her fairly secluded home. Not that they would ever be disturbed here. Kissing him again, she felt the hammock start to gently rock under them. It was not made for two, no matter how much they were going to try and make it work. ”Should we…?” she motioned back towards her house with her head. She didn’t care either way. i'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly Somehow, they’d managed not to flip in the hammock. Not that it would have taken much. When Fae kissed James in return, his last thought was how to stay balanced in this thing. Her hair darkened while her hand framed his face. He’d taken that leap, acted on feelings he now recognized. Who knew how long those had been simmering under the surface, and how long had she felt the same? And every time her hair shifted, it was louder than any words Fae could’ve spoken.
With a raised, surprised eyebrow, James half grinned. ”So that’s what all this was about? Seducing me?” The festival, the wine, and ending up alone. ”What would the Elders say?” Amusement gleamed in his eyes. James couldn’t say he minded. It had worked—hadn’t it? Again, Fae kissed him, and they both shifted slightly, so the hammock gained a little more momentum. At this point, figuring out how to remain safely in the hammock felt like some great personal challenge had been issued to James. But the other option was her house, which gave them more flexibility—so to speak.
His eyes went from Fae to her house and then back to Fae. And he gave a simple nod. Reluctantly, James pulled away and carefully stood up. Growing up, he and his cousins had played around with hammocks, among other random things, and he was well aware of what his size would do to a much smaller person when such a careful balance was disturbed. Lily had sent butterbeer flowing out her nose once when James had accidentally caused a hammock to completely flip, leaving Albus stuck in the middle. And to think, that hadn’t been that long ago.
And since the High Druid had done a splendid job of seducing him and capturing his attention, James wasn’t about to ruin the mood. He grabbed Fae’s hand into his own to help her up. The wine and glasses still floated above, though a bit too close to James’ head. His heart was racing, and quickly, they made their way inside. They’d hardly made it through the door frame before James kissed her again. His elbow bumped into something, which turned out to be a small stack of books that began to precariously lean over, not that James personally cared when they finally fell over. Still, he felt the need to apologize. ”Sorry.” He muttered sheepishly.

▲ She could only grin as James put the pieces together. Of course she had orchestrated all of this to happen in her own terms. In a way, she was sort of happy he had taken the initiative moments earlier, because she absolutely would have stalled a little longer. Fae had been planning on looking at the stars, which was why she had proposed the hammock. But that didn’t really matter anymore. ”The elders can go to the mainland,” she said. A kind, druid way of saying they could pound sand. ”It is not against our laws for relationships between druids and mainlanders to exist. There are a few on the council even that are married to mainlanders.” They weren’t all prudish. Except the extremely devote ones. Fae had distanced herself from that sort of thinking from the very beginning, because she knew she didn’t want to confine herself to a strict role her entire life. If she was going to be stuck here, doing everything she could to make her life interesting and fun was important. ”I think they would prefer I choose a druid but-“ she kissed him again, ”-I do not care what they think.”With James safely out of the hammock and his hand extended to help her stand, she felt the sudden weightlessness of the hammock below her leave. The added wine didn’t help, and she giggled to herself as she found her feet and made them walk. Sleeping out there would have been an adventure in the morning. The few short strides to her house felt simultaneously long and short. Her eyes never left James, and suddenly they were in her doorway. A small clatter erose behind them as they kissed again, and she only briefly pulled away to see that some of her books had fallen. Which was funny, because that was where they usually were. ”You are fine,” she said softly, pulling him closer towards her bed by the tips of his fingers. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

i'd like to make myself believe that planet earth turns slowly Maybe it was the wine in his system, but James would’ve never thought this would happen. Wasn’t it not even a couple of weeks ago he’d gotten dumped yet again? And Aurelia had been a nice girl and everything, and they’d probably easily remain friends, but this was something else entirely. Since James first met Fae through his work, he’d enjoyed her company. Offering to escort and join her protective detail when she made an official visit to the Ministry. The Aurors and others would grumble about the work because it was fairly slow compared to their day-to-day, but James never minded.
And thank Merlin for that wine because James would have never taken such a risk. The manners drilled into him since he was a boy would have kept him far more aware to remain at a respectable distance. But he hadn’t been able to help himself, hardly aware he’d wanted to kiss her until everything lined up. He couldn’t help but chuckle as she disregarded the elders. Sober, the word ‘relationship’ would have caught his attention, but at this point, it went in one ear and out the other. ”Good.” James managed to mutter in response.
James felt quite happy without inhibitions or the thought of duty and all those limiting things. And his knee definitely knocked more items over (fortunately nothing fragile) as Fae led him to her bed. Staring ahead left him unaware of his tall frame so close to everything. Before reaching the bed, James let his hand grip Fae’s and bring her close.

▲ Fae did not care about what others would think at this point. She had played her part as High Druid for eight years now, frequently doing what the Council wanted without second guessing and constantly working with the Ministry amidst their frequent…problems. Through numerous Minister changes, magical anomalies, and an ever-changing world that Hy-Brasil had been unwillingly dragged into, she deserved this. And quite frankly, if they wanted her to work with the mainland more, some concessions were going to have to be made on their part. She was great at international relations. Merlin, she was doing that right now! What was a better way of deepening one’s relationship with the mainland than this? Thinking of that as her lips separated from James’s momentarily brought a silly grin onto her face. That and the sound of more objects being knocked down. Her pitiful attempt at cleaning had already run afoul. Clearly it would be pointless to do so in the future. Why she had done it didn’t really make sense anyways, since James had already seen what her home normally looked like. That and there really wasn’t much one could see in the darkness of the Wildwood. Feeling his hand tighten around her own as he pulled her closer again, Fae could feel her heart starting to race. This was what she had wanted for months now, and once her invitation had been accepted, it all went into motion. Everything else had been dashed from her head. No responsibilities, what others thought, or how this could be perceived. And thankfully, James was reciprocating. Gently lowering herself towards the bed, all of her focus was on him. Tonight, it was just the two of them and the stars. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
