A laugh escaped Cade while he stood with various league officials. Men growing old and frail at this point, like some of the members of the Wizengamot. Unfortunately, this was not one of those events he could have brought Bianca to, even if he tried. A Gala for a good cause was perhaps a good excuse for her attendance, but if Cade hardly wanted to be here, she certainly did not. Finishing the contents of his glass, Cade placed it on a server’s tray as he walked by and excused himself, his face indicating someone had called his name.
However, nobody had called his name, and Cade merely looked for an exit from the conversation. Aside from socializing, Cade was also here as one of the Editors of the Daily Prophet. He spotted The Editor and Cade’s Junior Editors in his peripherals as they schmoozed and connected with their journalists. The event was hosted and sponsored by the Quidditch League, and Cade watched familiar faces mingle—the players that often graced the high-profile headlines of the Prophet regarding the sport. And many new faces—young faces of newcomers to the league. Witnessing such things always let Cade feel his age. How many years had passed since his own time playing Quidditch on his house team at Hogwarts?
But, more importantly, Cade focused on the few representatives he saw from Witch TV. Their reboot of the old popular radio series had taken off. Cade could say he was also a fan, although Bianca complained whenever he wanted to watch it. Casually approaching one of his writers, Cade kept the façade while he shook the woman’s hand and issued an instruction. ”Millie Dawes just arrived.” They shared a look, and the journalist went on her mission. It was less about the exclusive interview and more about whatever details one may let slip these days. And Merlin forbid the Witch Weekly to get the exclusive on some gossip or fact that could influence the team this season. Despite the player injuries and hiccups, they had been playing incredibly well.
