▲ Grey raised his glass as his sister talked about her feelings on working at the Ministry. "I'll drink to that." A lot of it had to do with the 'forced' feeling he got from his parents and Claire. To commit to a career that he would hate ll because of the optics behind it. Being a magical police officer literally made him the bad guy in most situations. There weren't many known dark wizards floating about anymore, and he was never going to gain the notoriety that the eldest Slater had gotten purely by chance. Not to mention, he didn't think he had it in him to kill another human being, no matter who they were. When it came down to it, he lacked that critical piece of what made an Auror and Auror. Grey knew he'd never be able to make that leap, unlike Claire. For their parents to be pushing him into such a thing, it made the entire training process feel rotten and dirty. Leaving was the only thing that made sense at that point. Luckily, Addy had figured it out too. Even if she was in a different department, there was still that damper of having the rest of the family looming over their shoulders, watching and trying to dictate every move. Where his parents got that sort of entitlement was unclear; it certainly hadn't existed before Claire's government sanctioned murder. "Probably not," Grey agreed. The trends of player trades and inter-team position movements usually showed when teams were trying things out. The Harpies were already in the midst of that with their replacement of a replacement for one of their Beaters. In absolutely no sane world would they attempt the find a new Chaser right now. "So..." he continued as he set his glass down on the table. "Who are you interested in? I might have an idea of what teams are looking right now."MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

made it this far so i can't stop running Addy never doubted she would have succeeded at the Ministry regardless of her department. Working in Magical Law Enforcement would have certainly raised her heart rate somewhere above the existing of her former department. She loved the work, but bureaucratic structures had a way of sucking the life out of everything. Something akin to a Dementor’s kiss. In hindsight, it was no wonder other parts of Addy’s life suffered for it all. An indignation always loomed somewhere near the surface. While Addy had finally gotten her way, a career that she wanted, there was that cost. This setback weighed on her, but only because of the doubt created.
Grey had always been the rebellious one—and in a forthright way. Addy had watched her older siblings from afar all her life and had walked this balance between dutifulness and impiety. Deep down, she felt hurt that her parents had not bothered to call, write, or show any inkling they wanted to see if she was alright. Not that it changed her mind about Quidditch at all. Adding to the setback was the Harpies’ lack of open starting positions. And she wasn’t medically cleared to return to the reserve roster, either.
Drinking more butterbeer, she mentally worked through the research she had done in her downtime. ”Hughes approached me After we played the Wasps last year.” Addy had been surprised, to say the least. The last time she spoke to the Wasps’ Captain was during her final year at Hogwarts, which felt like a century ago now. ”They’re doing well, as are the Bats.” The teams were never shy about recruiting. It was all a competition, after all, but Addy at least felt glad she hadn’t taken up the Magpie’s offer, as they had only been going downhill lately. Hearing from the Bats had been unexpected, if only because she never expected to hear from that McLaggen.

▲ ”The Wasps? Interesting…” Grey mumbled to himself. Wimbourne was good. Sometimes really good, depending on the weather. For some odd reason that he had yet to figure out, they had a record of playing terribly whenever it rained. Scores were always typically low during those matches anyways, but to have a consistent, decades long lower scoring percentage across multiple variations of the team was downright strange. It honestly deserved research, of which he would have loved to do it if he ever had the time. ”I think you were at the right place at that time though. I doubt they would have been as forgiving with you after your injury.” The way Addy briefly described that conversation made it sound like Hughes was trying to poach her. That wasn’t cool in any Quidditch circle, especially in the middle of the season. It was different now, because she was actively looking to switch teams. At the mention of the Bats, Grey’s ears perked up. ”Seriously? McLaggen reached out?” Now that was a surprise. From all accounts, and during their interviews, Grey had always had the assumption that the captain of the Bats was a bit of a control freak. He didn’t take risks unless he absolutely thought that it would benefit the team in a positive way. Which was probably how all professional Quidditch teams should be operating, but again, the statistics said otherwise. ”Merlin…” Grey swore to himself. He had to put food in his mouth so he could think while chewing. Combining the actions helped him a lot. Similarly to how he was always chewing on pen caps while trying to write articles. The bin in his office always had a couple hanging around in it. ”The Bats are doing extremely well right now. And I guess they could use a Chaser if they were really trying to go for it this year.” It was hard not to want them to win, as they were his favorite team. Having Addy playing for them would be a funny twist of fate. Give him two reasons to cheer them on, as well as making his reports on the team slightly biased. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
