Max offered her own thoughts on the situation, even going as far as to back up Rhys if he needed it on the phone with Sage. That was all well and good, but wouldn't this just turn out the same as before? She was already furiously upset with him. Another slip-up like this was sure to make everything that much worse. Dahlia didn't want to see what the outcome of that would be, especially concerning Amelia. His hesitation on not knowing what to say was maybe for the best. Because if he went in half-assed, Sage would walk all over him like she always tried to do. Which wasn't fair. That was the part Dahlia disliked the most about her niece's mother.
"You can blame it on me," Dahlia said after a moment. "I do not think she will believe it, but I am fine with that." The minute chance that Sage did believe the lie, it would work. But she really doubted that would be the case. Having all three of them try to convince her otherwise that Rhys was innocent and dragged into the fight would make it seem like they were covering for him. Mostly because they were. This whole thing sucked.
Letting out a long, agitated sigh, Dahlia got to her feet and paced around the room. She wasn't good at problem solving like this. Not when it came to other people. Normally she hated these sorts of things because people annoyed the ever living hell out of her. But Rhys was her brother, and she had decided to back him up even when no one else would. She had never been given that prior to moving to London and felt like it was the right thing to do now that she had the chance. "I should have deescalated it," she finally said as she stopped walking in circles. "So it is my fault."
