Zander accompanied Leo, of course. He was practically her stalker. He laughed aloud at the thought as they entered the room. Zander scanned the room for the closest female to flirt with, just to make Leo do that puking she promised, but the atmosphere was rather serious. Zander followed her to the back of the group, waving to Abby at the front as he did so. "Sorry we're late, Abs, what'd we miss?" Zander said, perking up a little as he waited for an explanation.

Sophia wasn't really.... into things like this. Sure, she was just as upset about recent events as everyone else, and she wanted answered! But... At the same time, it just wasn't her nature to get involved. Unfortunately for her, she happened to be far to close to two students that were willing to act, Leo and Zander. With those two going, there was no question of where Sophia might be. Part of it could be because she didn't want to be left out, but she had a suspicious feeling that her two friends didn't trust her alone.
She trailed behind her two friends, just watching them with that curious, and slightly amazed gaze of hers. She was smiling, listening to the two's banter. "Don't aim in my direction if that happens, I don't need more laundry." She commented, finally breaking the silence she'd been in most of the walk. It would be the last thing she said for a while, because they were finally there... The girl was sneaky about her entrance, she kept either Leo or Zander between herself and the rest of the group so few would notice her. Zander wasn't letting them have a quiet entrance though, announcing their arrival to the whole room. Sophia tilted her head downward a bit, so her dark hair would hide most of her face from onlookers...

Andy turned her attention to Albus has he made his deduction about the unbreakable vow, all while three hufflepuffs entered the room. Her skin paled a little as she nodded at the Potters words, "That's it, Albus. That's got to be," her voice was soft, horrified. What kind of person would torture someone just to keep them alive with sealed lips? A truly evil person, that's who. For all they knew that person could be in this room, granted, they would have seen some kind of reaction on Ethans face, right? Was that allowed in the vow? "I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I'm pretty sure Ethan can still feel emotion about this person. If he passed them in the hall... maybe we'd get a clue. Sorry Ethan," she turned to him with apologetic eyes, "I hate labeling you as a sort of... 'bad guy' detector, but it's not a bad plan, right?" her last question was aimed at Abby, James and the others toward the front, trying to see what their input would be.

walking into the room of requirment she knew that she hadn't been on time. she'd had a few things she'd needed to sort out with her school work. she chewed her lip as she glanced around the room, kind of nervous about walking into a room already filled with people, which wasn't really like her. the subject of what they were talking about was something she didn't really want to hear. it would be about the attacks and the going ons, and about ethan. who, she thought with a frown, should still be in the hospital wing. flicking her red hair back over her shoulder she caught the end of what he cousin and the lestrange girl were talking about and she shook her head. forgetting about not wanting to really talk about the subject or hear about it, she jumped into the middle of the conversation and walked over to ethan. she rested her hands on his shoulders in support and she shook her head. "that's a horrible plan! it would be the same as blurting out a name" she said, the thought was horrible to her, she wasn't going to let them use her best friend as a personal evil locater at the possible expense of his life.

When James had entered with Aurora, he had just caught the end of what Albus had said about Aurora. He shot him a brief glare but when Aurora spoke to him, calm, James remembered that her hand was still in his and he looked away from Albus and back to Aurora. James had never been one for listening to lectures or professors, but if Aurora had been his teacher from day one he would probably be the smartest guy in school; he could listen to her talk all day, even if it were about Crumplehorn Snorkacks. When she pulled out the clear liquid, James's eyes widened but his mouth curved into a smirk and he squeezed her hand. So she was quite the rebel after all.
James was happy that so many people showed up and even happier that so many of them were there to support Aurora. James smiled at Jay when he stepped up to stand next to Aurora. Even having Holly so close made him happy. James had always had a supporting and loving family, and he knew that after this meeting they would all see the truth. Aurora was innocent. He watched as everyone took turns voicing their opinions out loud, he let his eyes fall over to Abby as he raised his eyebrows at her to show how impressed and proud he was that she had orchestrated all of this. Then she entered. James watched as his best friend, Alice, went around the others to go and stand by Carcer Hagrid. Why had they been hanging around one another so much lately? When she looked their way, he made eye contact with her and he felt something sting inside of him. He hadn't spoken to her since their fight and he was just realizing how much that was affecting him, how much he missed his best friend. She averted her eyes before he could do or think of anything else.
After a few minutes, someone else walked in. It was Ethan. James's mouth fell open slightly at the sight of him. He felt something else inside of him, too. Anger. Anger for why this had to happen to Ethan, anger at whoever did this to him. James was taken by surprise when Alice had then asked Ethan how he was. Alice, of all people, asking him how he was. James really couldn't help the very small smile that appeared on his face at that sight. Masin DeLisle's voice brought him back to the reality of the situation. Ethan couldn't tell them who did it? What in Merlin's name? James watched as Ethan seemed to struggle when he answered Marcia. James really didn't know what to say. He was afraid that if he spoke, it would come out too harsh. He was so angry at who had done this that he was starting to shake himself, his left hand still holding onto Aurora's.
Then Albus spoke and James stopped shaking. He watched he and Ethan, Albus's words hitting him like a wave. An Unbreakable Vow. It did make sense. Why else wouldn't Ethan tell them? James had hardly noticed the three Hufflepuffs walk in, as grateful as he was that they did. He looked at his younger cousin when she had rejected Andromeda's idea. "Dom, that may very well be our only chance at finding out who could have done it," he said calmly, surprised at how calm he now was. He supposed talking to a cousin helped his temper. He turned back to Andromeda. "I think it's worth a shot. As long as you're okay with it," he then turned to Ethan.

from his spot jay listened, he'd said what he'd wanted to an now he was going to listen to the going ons around him. people were allowed to have their own opinions really, but when they turned ugly it wasn't good. that's what was happening in the world at the moment, someone with a differing opinion was swaying others, and that was never good. when the subject turned to unbreakable vows and what to do if it was one, jay lifted his head more and let the surprise of what was being said show on his face.
"wait a minute" jay said as he stepped forward and looked at andy and then to james, hearing dom voice her objection from ethan's side. "you think it's worth the risk to have him break an unbreakable vow?" he asked james. "since when did anyone here become okay with putting someone in that sort of harms way? i thought that's what we were trying to stop from happening" he spoke. the thought to him, was crazy. he looked at abby, wondering when if she would speak up and voice her opinion on the matter, and what that opinion would be.

Carcer nodded and smiled at Masin as she sat down. The two of them had been paired for prefect work many times in their fifth and sixth years, before Masin was named Head Girl. Carcer wouldn't say he was that close to her, but they'd worked together enough to be familiar.
Warm black eyes shifted to Marcia as the Slytherin asked about possession. Carcer paused for a moment, letting the conversation flow around him, and raised his hands in front of him, constructing a picture of sorts for himself to explain. “Okay, so, actually reading minds is almost impossible, right? Legilimency is all about reading and interpreting emotions. So...when you think of the mind, think of it...like a window, I guess, and you can only get so close to it. You can adjust your view, look in from different angles, but you can only catch small parts of the room—the emotions, not all the thoughts. Passive legilimency can only see this much. Actually using the Legilimens spell forcefully widens that window, by pulling out memories associated with emotions. And Occlumency would be curtains for the window, to block it from view. I've heard some people are so good with Occlumency they can paint a fake picture to fool people with.”
He narrowed his eyes a bit, hands twisting in front of him. “Now, possession goes even deeper. With possession, you actually enter the window, you live in the house for awhile. But...someone has to open the window. There has to be a strong enough emotional attachment to let you pull your mind into someone else without the attachment breaking. Of course, there's also Dark magic involved, but I don't know that side of it.” He shrugged apologetically, though in reality Carcer would rather not teach anyone here how to possess others, even if he knew. Then Albus Potter mentioned the Unbreakable Vow. What? Carcer turned to Ethan, immediately moving closer and kneeling down. He reached for the injured Ravenclaw, but his hand stopped a few inches away, and he closed his eyes. He didn't really know what he was looking for, and this was only a touch of Transfiguration, but...he thought he could feel an odd layer of magic around Ethan's heart. Like teeth, waiting to bite down if provoked.
Scary.
He opened his eyes, nodding once at Ethan, before listening to the others. More Hufflepuffs were arriving—well, naturally. He was only surprised so many of them had been late. Andromeda suggested that they monitor Ethan, try to figure out who it was by the way he acted. It wouldn't be a bad plan in any other circumstance—even if his memory had been modified, Ethan might still react fearfully to his attacker. But in this case, as Dominique pointed out, it would be no different for Ethan, no matter how he divulged the secret. Carcer was about to agree with her when James opened his mouth again, wanting to go through with the Lestrange girl's plan. Carcer clsoed his eyes, taking deep breaths. James was almost always the reason for Alice being unhappy, and he knew he'd been looking for an excuse to start something with the Gryffindor. He couldn't make an emotional decision like that. He was part giant, anger tended to awaken that side of him. He let Jay speak first, before deliberately standing up, silently announcing his intention to speak as he now towered over the room.
“Dominique and Jayden are right. There are no loopholes in an Unbreakable Vow. If he's been sworn not to reveal the identity of his attacker, he dies if he breaks that vow in any way, even unintentionally.” Carcer pointed at James, forcing himself to keep his voice calm and level. Perhaps James didn't realize he wasn't getting around the Vow. He was the son of Harry Potter, someone who actually exasperated other good guys with his desire not to sacrifice anyone on either side except himself. “You want to risk someone's life, Potter? Risk your own. But I'll not let you or anyone in here sacrifice him just for an answer.”

Alice watched Ethan as he spoke, even as the others spoke around them she couldn't help but look at him sadly. Someone she knew, not well but knew of well enough, had almost been killed. No matter their house, their bloodline, or anything - no one deserved to be killed. Much less tortured and put under some sort of curse. Her heart truly went out to Ethan as he stood before all of them, explaining that he really could not tell them who did it. Ethan was a Ravenclaw but Alice would never wish this on anyone. She could not even imagine the pain and suffering he had been through and was still undergoing. She had hardly registered anything else that had been said around her until Andromeda spoke up finally. Her words made Alice's head snap to face her direction and the look on Alice's face was not a kind one.
Did she really just say that? Alice knew that the Lestrange girls were twisted somehow. And she felt her face getting hot as she took a step in the direction of Andromeda. "Are you joking?" She hissed at the Gryffindor. She didn't take her glaring eyes off of Andromeda as Dominique Weasley spoke. She was glad she wasn't the only one who had a brain. James began to speak and Alice thought for a moment that he would have agreed with Dom and Alice but his next words shocked Alice enough to make her head snap in his direction next. Her mouth fell open, shocked that he would agree with such a suggestion. But then again... of course he woud agree with the Lestranges.
Alice barely heard her brother speak up to defend Ethan as she stared at James, feeling livid and upset with him. The fact that they had argued before the holiday didn't help her feel any better. Alice's fists began to shake at her sides as she felt the anger course further through her body. She wanted to open her mouth and snap at James but then Carcer spoke up and Alice instantly felt herself calming down. While she felt more calm with Carcer now speaking and defending Ethan as well, Alice did not lower her glare toward James. She had never felt more angry at him in her life.

so things were about to get ugly. casey could see that and he was pretty sure that everyone in the room could see that too. it was a tricky situation. they all wanted to find out who had done it, but fighting about how to do it wasn't going to gt them anywhere really. casey frowned as he listened to the conversation and he stepped up beside james, one of his best friends. he glanced at carcer as he stood up and he moved to step a little in front of james, as a good friend would, not intimidated by the size of carcer, it was only size anyway. "do you know that for certain? not that i'm saying putting ethan in danger is an option .. but sitting here on our hands and dancing around the fact isn't going to help" he said with a frown as he glanced at ethan. he wondered what the ravenclaw was thinking, since he hadn't been able to get a word in edge wise. . james and his siblings had the right to know if their mother's attacker was somehow involved in this, ethan had the right to know why he had been targeted. "the only person who can say yes or no to this plan is ethan .. so why don't we let him get a word in?"

Well, things sure escalated quickly.
Ethan didn't know how the vow worked, so Andys suggestion didn't offend him in the least. If he accidentally showed the horror in his eyes when Elaine walked into a room, would that kill him? If someone noticed? According to Carcer and some others, it would. Ethan was almost willing to take the risk though. If he was, why didn't he just say it out loud in this meeting? What was he so scared of? Dying?
He felt his eyes starting to mist as the discussion started to pick up. It all felt slow motion to him. He wanted to stand up, say her name, and have this all be over with. Then they could know the truth. In a moment of panic, he looked over at Cordie, his eyes brimming with tears. Could he really die and let her just... fend for herself? Masin would help her through the grieving, right?
No, no, what was he thinking. But wasn't it the right thing to do?
The sudden feeling of Doms hand on his shoulder should have comforted him, but it only made him tense even more. What he was about to say... well, he didn't want her to have to hear it, let alone be right beside him.
"Wait," he said, his voice soft, but a few more people spoke after that. They probably didn't here him. Finally, Casey turned the attention back Ethan in his wheelchair. Ethan gave the Gryffindor a nod before addressing the group once more. "We can't turn against each other. That's what-" he almost said she, "what they want. If me giving it away is for the greater good..." he made eye contact with Cordie once more, "Isn't that what should be done?" He didn't dare look at Dom, he could only imagine what his sweet friends face would be at the suggestion.

turning in his spot next to ethan albus frowned as he moved to face his older brother. he heard andy and casey but his thoughts and attention were on james. he honestly thought there was nothing wrong with ethan trying to let them know who had done this to him? after everything, some people in the room seemed to be okay with it. shockingly, they were all in gryffindor. for once? it wasn't a slytherin. al stepped forward, his eyes narrowing on james a little, the fact this was his older brother didn't come into play anymore. he was talking his thoughts now and his thoughts didn't take family into account.
"you know james" he said after carcer and jayden and then casey had added their two cents into the conversation. "it sounds to me, like you have no problem if the curse kills him. are you sure you're not the one that did it to him? almost seems like your trying to convince us to let you finish the job" he said, letting his anger at his older brother show. they were here to stop people dying. if everyone else was allowed to point out accusations, why couldn't he. plenty of people at this meeting had pointed out that it was probably a slytherin, well maybe this time it was someone different. he didn't care what people thought about him saying that to his brother, they didn't know who the killer was. when looking at facts, james had found the girl and now he was willing to let ethan make a choice that would kill him, it didn't look so great in al's eyes.

James had not at all expected the reaction that followed what he had said.
To James, Andy's idea did not seem all that bad. But then again, James had not entirely considered what breaking the curse (even in such a quiet and minor way,) would do to Ethan. He had just figured that he could get away with it. He did not mean for everyone to blow up in his face but the fact that everyone in the room seemed to finally turn on he and Andy. It was Carcer, though, that made James's mouth tighten into a thin line when he pointed his finger at him. James narrowed his eyes at Carcer, wanting nothing more than to get into some sort of argument with him right there. Carcer had been spending a lot of time around Alice lately, and whenever James saw them together Alice always looked happy. James would have thought nothing of it before, but considering the state of he and Alice's current relationship, it made James angry to see her happy with someone that wasn't him, even if they were just the best of friends. "Did you not hear me, Hagrid?" James spoke up now, finally stepping away from Aurora to get closer to Carcer. "I said, that may be our only way at finding out who did anything. So unless you have some kind of 'great plan,'" his voice got louder, using air quotes to add to his loaded sarcasm. He didn't lower his stare from Carcer for a moment, but his eyes could not help but glance over at Alice for a moment and when he saw her just staring angrily at him, James just shook his head angrily and turned away from both of the Hufflepuffs as Casey began to speak.
James was thankful for Casey's intervention, coming to his aid as always. James returned to Aurora's side but did not take her hand again. He was feeling far too on edge to do anything but stand there with his arms limply at his sides as he watched the rest of the group. Finally Ethan spoke and James watched him as he did. James did not want anyone else to die. Ethan was his friend, and James could not bear it if he had to watch a close friend die. Hearing Ethan basically volunteer himself now shut James up real quick. Then of course someone else had to put in their two cents...
James saw Albus step forward and raised an eyebrow in anticipation for what he had to say but was nothing but shocked and mortified at what actually left his lips. "WHAT did you just say?" James's voice was loud again. His nostrils flared and his mouth was in another thin line. He could feel all of the color rush to his cheeks. "Are you forgetting what I went through for the first month I was back at school? Are you forgetting that I WAS THE ONE. WHO FOUND. THAT DEAD GIRL!?" James stepped forward, his face nearly inches from his brother's. Never before in his life had James wanted to throw his brother a right hook more than he did in this moment.

Cordelia was horrorstruck.
The blonde did not know much about the Unbreakable Vow but she could gather by the way everyone responded to Andromeda and James that it was not to be taken lightly. She stood there, a look of absolutely panic and worry on her face as she looked back and forth between those who were for it and those against it. Were the Gryffindors actually offering Ethan up as bait? She was glad that he had people to defend him, because obviously she was far too handicapped to do that right now. She felt terrible. She wanted to fall to the floor and cry but she couldn't do that. She had to be strong for Ethan. She felt her lip quiver as she watched James and Carcer confront one another and then when Ethan spoke, she made eye contact with him. He... was agreeing? To... offer himself as bait? He couldn't... She wouldn't let him! She wanted nothing more than to walk across the battlefield that was now Albus and James Potter to take his hands in hers and tell him that he could never do that but she was rooted to her spot across the room. Being utterly useless and above all a terrible and unsupportive girlfriend.
She had never been more ashamed of herself in her life.

"Al..." Scorpius had started to speak before James had started to fight back. Scorpius stood, clasping his hand onto Albus's shoulder, but not speaking at first. He didn't know what was the best thing to do. Was it worth it to spare Ethans life in order to save countless others? He didn't know Ethan that well, but that didn't make the idea any less uncomfortable. No, there was no way that they would be able to do something like that. Though, a part of Scorpius, a part of him that was much bigger than he was willing to admit, thought that it was actually a good idea. If it was the only way, then what was a little sacrifice? If he was the one who had been attacked and taken the vow, Scorpius would stand up and say the culprits name in front of the entire school. Wouldn't he?
He'd like to think he would. But, before he could dwell on that much longer, James was stepping closer, talking about the girl he had found on the train. Scorpius felt a sharp pain in his gut. He had no idea how James must have felt, but it wasn't going to let Albus get beaten up over it. He took another step up beside Albus, holding a hand out in James's direction, "guys, don't do this," he said, his voice calm and collected. "The last thing anyone wants is anyone else getting hurt. Including the people in this room," he shot Ethan a look at that before turning back to the Potter brothers, "damage whether emotional," this time he looked at Al, "or physical is not worth it."

"you heard me james." okay so maybe wrong place and wrong time but there wasn't going to be a better one. they were here to figure out who it was weren't they? that meant exploring all options. his brother was one like anyone else in the school. he felt scorps hand come down onto his shoulder though he ignored his name when his friend tried to talk to him and he tried to shrug it off, not wanting the contact at that very moment. if it came down to a fight it would be james throwing the first punch, but al sure as hell would be throwing the last one."of course i know what you went through. everyone knows what you went through. though you have to admit it's a hell of a" he cut off when the blue sparks suddenly erupted between him and his brother and his eyes shifted to the person who had cast them. of course who else. "you think i care what you have to say edge? go back to your spot under moreta" he said, his voice almost icy as he turned his gaze back onto his brother. he knew he'd be in the shit for this as soon as james let his parents know what albus had said to him, he was almost certain that it would be in a letter tonight. he was going to stand by it though. he knew he was going to be the 'bad guy' in this situation. having spoken his opinion and had a few people not liking it, he was used to that. he could handle that. there wasn't much he couldn't handle really, he'd yet to come across a situation that beat him. though he was sure that day was coming. maybe.
