Andy had just had a rather magnificent day. NOT. Her ex-boyfriend, Jude, had been treating her terribly since they returned from Christmas Break. Not that their relationship was anything to celebrate. Still, she couldn't even stand being in the Common room for five minutes with him, hence why she was planning to escape now. Why did she let this happen? She didn't even want a boyfriend and then VIOLA, in walks Jude and suddenly their a couple, barely able to keep their hands off each other. And if a few short weeks it was over, leaving Phil trapped in between his two best friends who had just broken up... Oh, not too mention she had kissed Phil over the break. Needless to say, Andy wasn't really expecting a cat to come running at her as she slipped out of the fat ladies portrait. She jumped, clutching her heart as the cat moved past her with an oh-so-casual look. She let out a breathless laugh, leaning against the wall for a moment, embarrassed at her being shocked by the cat.

((aw, why not! Let's see what happens when we mix these two!))
Petit had escaped the Ravenclaw dormitory.
Braelynn, or Bay, tried to keep the pure white cat in the dormitory for one reason, his insatiable curiosity. The cat wasn't satisfied until he'd explored every corner, investigated every room, and discovered every secret. She'd learned the hard way just how far his curiosity would go during her years are Beauxbatons. Her first year, the cat had actually been missing for two months before they'd finally managed to find him. From then on, she'd been far more careful. Today though... Someone had been leaving the common room while she wasn't looking, and he'd bolted. Now, for the past hour she'd been following the tracking spell she'd been smart to cast on him. He was such a clever boy though, always staying one step ahead...
The spell lead her to the towers, and she couldn't help but smile. He'd eventually corner himself, and this little adventure would finally be over. She rounded a corner, just in time to see Andromeda Lestrange exiting the Gryffindor commonroom, and almost literally ran into Petit. The lithe creature manuvered through the girl's feet with ease, but ended up startling her in the process. Bay hurried to catch the feline, but, upon spotting his master, he bolted off down the hall. She let out a sigh as he disappeared from sight. He was far to clever for his own good....
Bay stopped, looking to Andromeda as she leaned against the wall, laughing quietly. Of course Bay knew here. They were year mates, after all. Not only that, they both gave from traditional and purist pureblood families.... Smiling warmly, the girl turned to face her year mate. "I'm sorry if he startled you, Andromeda." She politely apologized. I wouldn't have to if that blasted cat would behave...' she thought, but kept it to herself. "He's usually not like this." She looked in the direction he'd disappeared. He'd reappeared at the sound of his master's voice and was giving her that smug look he always had. The one that just dared her to stop him...

Andy nodded and smiled lightly as the cat moved on, and as it's owner apologized for him. Her name was Braelynn, Andy remembered, and was in the same year as Andy. A Ravenclaw, in fact. Andy chuckled a little, albeit softly, when Bay explained that the cat wasn't normally like this. Andy caught sight of the cat as it returned from it's hiding place, giving a smug little look to Braelynn. "Oh, it's all right, Braelynn," Andy said, smiling a little. It was strange to think that she had barely ever spoken to the girl. Granted, the girl was a transfer student so that did make up for some of their estrangement. But still, their families were so similar. Heck the two girls even had the same dark hair and dark eyes. Braelynn had a twin, and Andy hadn't really spoken to her either. But Andy had gotten a little, which was already too much, of Desi in her time.
"What's his name?" Andy asked, turning away from the cat and looking back at the french girl. She was still embarrassed that the girl had seen her jump at the sight of the cat, but Bay had handled it so smoothly that Andy almost felt comforted. If this was a year ago, heck, if this was even a few months ago Andy wouldn't have written Bay off immediately as someone just like her sister and walked away. But here she was, giving the polite Ravenclaw a chance. Maybe trusting her was the wrong choice, but Andy didn't feel like she should push this one away. Phil was having that affect one her... this idea of giving people a fair chance.

Lestrange. Braelynn knew the nae. They were a Pureblood family. One in a very similar situation as the Rousseau's. While Bay knew the Lestrange girls, which were similar ages to herself, they hadn't interacted to much.
She smiled as Andromeda spoke. "Please, call me Bay. It's easier." She didn't make a face, but was tempted to. Her parents had given her such an odd, and long name. Oh, she did like her full name, no doubt about it. But it could be a mouthful. If she could help it, she preferred her nickname. As the topic changed to her cat, Bay nervously laughed, embarrassed by the mischievous creature. "It's Petit." The cat was clever, far more clever then a regular cat. But in the Wizarding world? Most cats were. With all the contact they had with magic, it had to rub off on them, causing permanent side effects. He was grooming himself now, almost as if to taunt them. Bay's smile vanished, replaced with a small frown. "Ever since I named him he's only gone out of his way to prove just how wrongly named he was. Imp seems far more fitting." He looked up at moment, staring at the two student, still looking as smug as ever, before going back to ignoring them, as if they were beneath him.
With a sigh, Bay shook her head, looking back at Andromeda. It was then she finally understood exactly what was going on. Yes she had noticed Andromeda leaving the Gryffindor common room, but until this very moment, it hadn't clicked what that actually meant. "Oh!" She exclaimed, trying to hide the surprise from her expression with her hand. "I'm sorry. We interrupted you, didn't we? If you're in a hurry, I won't hold you." Part of her wished Andromeda wouldn't need to rush off somewhere. She hardly knew the girl, even after two years and being in many of the same classes. Maybe it was time they stopped avoiding each other?

"Oh, okay. Yeah, you can call me Andy," you see, Andy was trying this fun new thing where she was actually nice to people. It was probably the hardest thing she had ever done. Coming out of her bubble and being social able. It was... different, to say the least. But a lot of good was coming out of it. Especially between she and her sister.
Petit, a silly name for a cat but actually really cute. Andy couldn't help but smile at that. She chuckled as Bay explained how the name didn't suit the cat at all. "That happens often, I think. Andromeda is so... serious," the funny part is, up until this year Andy was incredibly serious and the old fashioned name rather suited her. Now it seemed... foreign almost. Though, she still liked it. She just preferred Andy.
When Bay suddenly announced that she was sorry for interrupting her, Andy shook her head. "Oh no, no. I honestly don't even think I was going anywhere specific. Just needed some fresh air," she added. "Do you guys want to go outside?" friendly, friendly people invite their friends on walks. Especially friends with parents just as evil as theirs.

Braelynn couldn't help but see the resemblance between herself and Andromeda in the moment when the Gryffindor asked her to use her nickname. She quickly nodded in agreement.
Petit meowed, as if aware that they were talking about him.... He was such a clever cat.... Oh how she wished he wasn't. "I think Andromeda is a pretty name." the girl admitted. "But I can understand. Braelynn is such a mouthful, I feel like I'm in trouble every time someone says it." Of course, her parents never called her Bay. They were far to formal for that. They still didn't approve of the girl going by a nickname...
Bay was happy, very happy, when Andy invited her (and Petit) to go on a walk with her. Her warm smile conveyed the feeling. "I'd love to. We might need to catch him first though..." At those words, as Bay was turning her gaze back to the cat, he stood. He'd understood her.... And he bolted. The girl let out a sigh. Of course. She should have just gotten her wand out while he was sitting there and charmed him to the spot, or levitated him so he couldn't escape. This whole wild goose chase could have been done with, if she hadn't been distracted. But... For some reason, she was glad she had. After all, how often did she and Andromeda get a chance to talk like this?

Andy smiled as Bay complimented her name. "Thanks. I mean, I do like it. But I agree, full length names are used for serious moments. Being in trouble being one of the top ones," she chuckled. She had been in trouble many times and her parents called her by her full name often. In fact, they'd never used 'Andy'. She wasn't even sure if they knew that it was a thing at school.
Not that it mattered now.
Andy turned toward the cat at the same time Bay did, chuckling a little as he bolted. "All right then. First one to catch him gets..." she was really bad at games and things of the like. So instead of finishing her sentence she just took off down the hall after the cat. After a moment, she turned around to make sure Bay was following her.
It felt nice, moving around a little. Andy had been so stagnant the past few weeks, just sitting around and trying to avoid confrontation. Now, with her muscles moving a little, she wondered why she didn't do this more often. More physical activity and things of the like.

"A butterbeer, next Hogsmeade trip?" Braelynn finished the sentence. It was the only thing she could think of in that moment. She chuckled a little as Andromeda took off after the cat. Without any hesitation, Bay followed. Petit was clever, and wasn't pleased he now had two pursuers. He wasn't going to give up the chase with out a fight. Thankfully, Braelynn still had the tracking spell on him.
It came in handy when they lost sight of him, the cat taking advantage of portion of the hall that split. Braelynn stopped and pulled out her wand. With a quick swish, his trail, left from the spell, appeared. Braelynn smiled at Andromeda. "He's a little to clever for his own good. But not clever enough to outsmart some witches, don't you think?"
She was probably jinxing them with the statement...
The cat had managed to get quite a head start on them, no where in sight as they head down the hall. At least, until the trail stopped. Instinctively, she looked up, the only way he could have gone. There he was, up in a windowsill. And he's positioned himself so strategically, you'd be lucky to get a clear shot with a spell... "That bugger..."

Andy nodded at Bay's idea. The cat was clearly not amused witht he situation, which made it even better. Andy found herself smiling, even chuckling a little as the cat eluded them. A brief thought crossed Andy's mind, would the Longbottoms let her have a pet? She decided she'd ask Neville the next time she saw him.
As Bay pulled out her wand and a little trail appeared, Andy smirked at her. "That's pretty ingenious. I wonder, do some parents do that with their kids?" she laughed, but in all reality it was a real question. Tracking spells so you don't lose your kids while shopping in diagon alley? It seemed smart, but also a little... creepy.
Andy followed the trail along with Bay until it stopped. She followed Bay's example, looking up to where the cat had climbed, quite impressively, into the windowsill. "Aw..." she contemplated. She could always summon the cat via accio, but that didn't seem incredibly safe if she failed to catch him. She turned to Bay for a moment before an idea hit her.
"Ascendio" the spell, meaning 'to climb', gave Andy a boost to lift into the air for a moment, where she quickly reached to clasp the cat before lowering back to the ground.
@braelynn (you can decide if she got the cat or not haha)

"I'm sure my parents used it countless times, but I doubt they'd ever admit it." Braelynn admitted. It really wouldn't surprise her. Somehow, some way, they'd always known where she was growing up, especially when she was up to no good. She'd gotten in trouble countless times, and slowly the youngest Rousseau had fallen in line. She bottled up her emotions tightly, and became the perfect Pureblood princess they wanted her to be...
Andromeda was the first to come up with a plan to retrieve her rambunctious pet. Rather then bringing him to her, she decided to go to him. It was quite clever, and made Bay smile. Petit, on the other hand, seemed far less pleased, and was to high to risk jumping to escape. Tucked safely in her arms, the disgruntled creature yowled, voicing his feelings on the situation. "Yes, yes, Petit. You're so fierce." Bay responded teasingly. This time he grumbled deep in his throat. Not a happy camper at all. Bay just laughed. "I don't think he likes either of us right now." She finally spoke to Andy as she landed safely on the ground once more, prize in hand.

"You know, I'm almost positive my parents did," she said, trying to sound lighthearted but a bit of fear slipped through. Her parents didn't have that on her now, did they? That wouldn't make any sense. She hadn't seen them in a long, long time. Since October. Surely something like that would have worn away by now, right?
Andy was unsurprised by the sounds the cat made in protest. Once Andy landed, she made a move to pass the cat back to Braelynn. "Aw, yeah. Doubt it. Cats are temperamental, aren't they?" she chuckled. Andy smiled at the cat then back up at Braelynn. It was strange, talking to someone she hadn't had much connection with but they really had a lot in common. "So... Braelynn..." she started to say. What was she going to do? Ask her how it was for her being raised in a dark household?
Well, why not? "Do you... want to talk? About it?" she was being super vague, but she hoped Braelynn would understand what she was trying to say...

Braelynn smiled as the cat was passed to her. Held firmly in her own arms, she scratched him behind the ears. His favorite spot. Even though he was angry, Petit couldn't help but purr a little. "They are. But I think they are better judges of character then dogs. You can't trick a cat." She commented honestly. She didn't respond immediately as Andromeda continued. Instead she focused on the tone of voice the Gryffindor took, and the words she chose.
There were several possible things Andromeda. It was a vague question, and while Braelynn was clever she was not psychic. Better to be sure what Andromeda meant before opening the wrong can of worms.... "About what... specifically?" She hesitated a little as she spoke, her voice lowering to barely above a whisper. There wasn't anyone around to overhear, but that didn't mean they weren't being watched.

As Braelynn asked for specificity, Andy sighed, shaking her head. "I guess about our lovely families," she said with a little faux chuckle. She glanced around, almost as if to check if anyone was spying on them. It was dangerous to talk about such things, especially at Hogwarts. Hogwarts was claimed to be such a safe place, but that had been proven wrong hundreds of times. "I feel like we have more in common than I'd noticed before," she added, straightening up a little and raising her voice back to a normal place. "Should we be getting your cat back to your dorm?" she asked. What were the supposed to talk about anyway? It wasn't like there was much they could do at this point. However, Andy was free from her family whereas Braelynn... as far as Andy knew the girl was still intertwined with her family in every way possible.
Maybe Andy could help with that. Maybe she could help Braelynn get to where she was... but how?

Braelynn had never talked to anyone about her family. At least, not anyone that didn't already know everything. Did she dare talk to Andromeda? On one hand she was a Lestrange, their families were so..... similar. Their parents were in the same circle of friends and colleges... On the other hand, Andromeda was still a stranger. Maybe Braelynn was just guessing when she thought their families were the same. But, as Andromeda spoke, her suspicions calmed, and Bay couldn't help but smile a little. "I think you're right. I think we do have more in common then I first thought." She responded, agreeing. Bay knew right then and there that she and Andromeda could be friends, good friends. Why hadn't she noticed that before?
Holding the cat firmly in her arms she nodded. "Before he comes up with another clever idea to escape. And then... We can talk."
And talk they did
