The Ice February 2023 And so they went, holding onto one another until they were at class safely. Sure they probably could have used magic to remedy the situation somehow, but either they were both too stubborn for that or they were too distracted. Either way, they made the choice to stick together and had to follow through with that decision. It was tense and awful and silent. Great. What a great way to start the day. le end ice

Lunch Table @lestrange The Great Hall was full. Lunch time seemed to do that to the room. So when Phil went to find a seat, he sat down in the first available one. He pulled his book out of his bag and set it on the table next to his plate. He piled on some of the food available to him and set into eating as he read. Then a familiar voice made him freeze mid bite. Andy was... right next to him.

Lunch Table @philiplongbottom Andy was sitting having lunch with her newest friend, Braelynn. She was a Ravenclaw but they had sat at the Gryffindor table today. The girls were talking and laughing softly when she felt someone sit beside her. She didn't turn right away but continued her sentence. Finally, she glanced around, a big smile on her face to say hello to whoever it was. Aw, this was just her luck. Her smile vanished. "Phil. Morning."

Lunch Table @lestrange Morning. That was the time of day. Unfortunately, it was not such a good morning any longer. His heart, as always betrayed his brain, lurching in his chest when he saw her face and the way her hair fell around her shoulders framing it. "Andy, Morning." He grunted as he turned back to his food. He didn't need to think about her today, he had assignments and a test to do today, he couldn't be thinking about Andy all day... and now that was what was going to happen.

Lunch Table @philiplongbottom She found herself roll her eyes as he turned back to his food and turned back to hers. She didn't continue her conversation with Bay, and Bay clearly knew how awkward the situation was and didn't say anything. After a few moments the Ravenclaw had to get going and Andy was left alone beside Phil. To be civil or to not be civil, that was the question. "So, how are you?" she didn't look at him.

Lunch Table @lestrange Oh, Andy was talking to him today. That was nice. He gritted his teeth and then released them. He needed to let go of these hateful feelings. He didn't want them and it only made it harder when he ran into her like this. Which seemed to keep happening no matter how careful he was. So he took a deep breath. "I'm doing pretty well today, actually. And you?" He questioned, totally cordial and polite. He tried to put some friendliness in his tone, but he decided that was going to take a little more work.

Lunch Table "Fine. Just fine," she answered, her tone wasn't so great either. Why was this so hard? Weren't they best friends only months ago? Oh yeah, Andy had forgotten how to be friends with him and it quickly turned into sappy teenage bitterness. She didn't know how to fix it though and right now a part of her didn't want to. She didn't know what else to say, however, so she stood up, leaving her plate mostly full. "It was nice talking to you, then." Her tone proved that it was entirely not nice talking to him. And so she walked away. @philiplongbottom (i couldn't justify her hanging around haha. end table?)

Quidditch Pitch The field was full of different brooms and riders, all different teams, all just trying to get in a bit of practice. No one meant for anything to happen. But it did happen. Phil could see it happening as if in slow motion. He hadn't been purposefully paying attention to her, he was trying very hard to not notice her. But he did. Everywhere he went he noticed her. So when he came to practice on the quidditch pitch, he saw her there. She was not even flying, just sitting ont he edge of the pitch watching. But when the bludger veered off of it's course and started going for her, Phil was zooming toward it. When it hit her shoulder he could hear the crack. No. This wasn't happening. Landing next to her Phil left his broom on the ground and scrambled over to her. "Andy! Andy, are you alright?" He asked, knowing that it was a stupid thing to ask, of course she wasn't alright! She was just hit with a bludger that was going at least 40 kilometers an hour! @lestrange

Andy wasn’t on a quidditch team but she had come with Rory to watch James practice. She had left her sister in the stands and was actually about ready to leave when it happened. She stopped at the edge of the pitch, flipping around as someone called her name when a bludger smashed right into her shoulder.
White hot pain, black spots and a fall to the ground later, Andy had passed out. After a few short seconds, however, she opened her eyes and Phil was suddenly at her side asking if she was okay. ”I… what?” she did not feel good.

@lestrange "Are you alright?" Phil repeated without any effort to hide the worry in his voice. He was mad at her, but he did not want her to be hurt in any way, shape, or form. Someone had grabbed the bludger and put it away, thankfully. He didn't want that thing coming back over here. He pulled out a leaf from his pocket, it was a numbing agent. He had found some earlier when walking by the Gamekeeper's hut and just stuffed it in his pocket, that way he wouldn't have to get any from the potions room next time he needed it. Setting the leaf on her shoulder, he waited for a few seconds for it to work. Gently, his fingers tested the skin around her shoulder, and it didn't feel too good. "Come on, we have got to get you to the hospital wing."

"Ow, ow," Andy muttered as Phil asked if she was all right and she attempted to move. "No, no," she repeated as her hand flew to Phils bicep and crushed it tightly for support. As he poked at her shoulder she winced at every touch. "No, no. I'm okay I don't want to go to the hospital," she protested, her hand tightening it's grip on his arm. She let out a yelp as he touched a spot on her shoulder. "Phil! Stop it!" she said, her voice more of a whine then full of anger. She rolled her eyes and then finally made eye contact with him. "Fine. Take me." @philiplongbottom

@lestrange He scooped her up in his arms, trying to make it look effortless. It required some effort to carry her, but not nearly as much as he thought it would. Not that she was heavy! No, not that at all. It was just that carrying people in your arms isn't as easy as it looks. Suddenly he was grateful he hadn't said any of his thoughts out loud. He hurried on his way into the school. "Don't worry, It'll be fine. It is probably just broken. Not shattered, so it will be an easy fix!" He grunted. He was not having trouble carrying her. And he was not nervous about her being in his arms, right next to his chest where she could hear his heart accelerating. Nope. He was concerned for a friend in the same way he would be concerned for any friend.

Andy let her good arm wrap around Phils shoulder as he lifted her and groaned with pain. As he carried her toward the castle he went on to explain that she would be fine and she found herself glaring at him. She tightened her grip on the shoulder of his robes, "doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt, though. Thanks for carrying-" she paused, suddenly very aware of how loudly his heart was beating, "me. Thanks for carrying me," she repeated.

He felt her glare on him, and he didn't look at her. For whatever reason, she was mad at him. He felt his anger was justified, she had stopped talking to him, right? So why was she angry. Never the less, Phil didn't recognize her glare with a glance.
He took the stairs as quickly as he dared, trying to not jostle her. Then she thanked him... twice. Did her voice hitch? No. It must have been his imagination, but he looked at her even as he made it to the hospital wing.
"A stray bludger hit her." he told the nurse, taking his own attention away from Andy. He was just a concerned friend. That was it. Anyone would have done the same.

Once he was brought to the hospital wing the nurse started looking over her and she looked up at Phil. Her cold stare had dissipated and she nodded once at him. "Thanks." Then she turned toward the nurse, not planning to turn back and look at Phil again. He could stay, if he wanted, but she wasn't planning on acknowledging this further. (ill start the next one just got to see what it is)
