Phil glanced up at Andy when he hand landed on his. He saw compassion in her eyes. A compassion that he wasn't anticipating, but somehow knew was real. She squeezed his hand, lending him a bit of strength. He smiled appreciatively, but the smile didn't feel real. It didn't match the raging emotions inside him. She let go of his hand and turned back to Jayden. She was so concerned for him. He was as well, but he did not want to just sit here. Glancing at Alice, he was surprised to find his own emotions echoed in her eyes. Something familiar from his sister. He felt a strong desire to hug her, just because he knew someone else felt the way he was. Bu he didn't. He just stood up, his teeth gritted and his muscles taunt, turning away from Jayden's bed. Then his father grabbed his arm and pulled him away. Phil didn't resist, why would he. Part of him wanted someone to tell him what to do, to tell him not to worry. Those were not his father's words. As Neville spoke, Phil found himself hanging onto the words. He was describing exactly how Phil felt. And Phil could ell that his feelings could become very, very dangerous if he let them loose. But he still wanted to. He wanted someone to suffer, someone had to pay for this. His little brother, his best friend... Someone would pay. But Phil would take his time. Make sure he wasn't just reacting to the stress of the moment. Taking his father's words in stride, he nodded. The feelings wouldn't control him. He would control them. They would work for him. @lestrange @aurora @superluigi64 @hannah @alice @henry

Alice made no effort to hide her surprise when Aurora finally spoke. Her head snapped in the brunette's direction as she began to talk about helping Jayden. Alice wanted to be angry at her for being able to step up and be a better sister than she was but... she couldn't bring herself to. She genuinely felt grateful that at least one of Jayden's "siblings" were able to keep themselve collected enought to be there for him.
As Jayden began to recount the experience for them, Alice felt more and more anger rising up in her. Someone stuffed something into his mouth? Clearly the way he couldn't remember things, it had to be something that knocked him out. And by Jay's mentioning of a "he" proved it was a man. Alice was so angry. When they had killed that first year, it was a tragedy. She had felt so bad when James had gone through that time of sadness and frustration when he had found the first body. But now the person commiting all of these crimes had hit too close to home. She knew immediately that she had to tell Abby, to gather the Phoenix Rising. The killer was trying to send a message. They were targeting purebloods now.
Alice was taken slightly aback when her father had grabbed a hold of her arm and pulled she and Philip aside. Alice looked up at her father with a furrowed brow, confused at first. Then it came as no surprise when he explained near exactly what she was feeling. She bit her lip. That was when she noticed that Phil was feeling a lot of the same things. She never realized how much she and Phil were alike until she saw her own feelings reflected in him. She looked back at her father as he, too, looked at both of his children. "They can't do this again," she said quietly, shaking her head slowly. "They can't hurt anyone else." It was a hope, but part of it felt like a promise. While Alice knew she couldn't do anything on her own, she knew that Phoenix Rising could make a difference. And while she would wait to go seeking revenge on her own, she knew deep down that this killer deserved what was coming to them.

Hannah listened as Jayden tried to explain what happened, placing a hand on his cheek when he was finished. "Okay, you don't have to tell us anything right now Jay," she said as she stroked his cheek with her thumb before pulling away and getting back to work. She was proud and unsurprised by the way the children were reacting. Andromeda and Aurora, both so wanting to help and so passionate. She was glad that they were here, and even more glad that they wanted to be a part of this family now. Christmas break had been a huge bonus for the plan of bringing them into the family, but it still didn't feel complete yet. As horrible as this thing was, it was like the finishing touch for them she felt. Trials and bad times had a way of bringing people together. Not that she didn't wish she could have prevented this, of course she wanted to, but Hannah always knew where to find something good in any given situation.
As Neville pulled Phil and Alice away, Hannah turned to Aurora and Andromeda. "Like you suggested Rory, the best thing you can do is be here. If Jayden wakes up to no one being around that may cause him to panic. I'll be staying here as well and you can help me keep him comfortable," she smiled softly at the girls. She knew the feeling, the feeling of wanting to help and not knowing how. That's why she studied medicines so much. She didn't want to be someone on the sidelines watching people suffer, she wanted to be in the thick of it caring for those in need. The year of Hogwarts before the battle was when she got the most practice. Caring for those who had been given brutal punishments, and eventually caring for those in and after the battle.
She blinked those thoughts away, turning to Jayden once more.

Andy's eyes flickered to Phil as Neville pulled he and Alice away. Concern brewed in her as she wondered what they were talking about, but she was sure it was something important. Hannah pulled her eyes back to Jaydens side as she described understanding what Andy was feeling. She really did, too. Andy knew Phil's parents had been through stuff much worse than they had so far. Sure people were dying and being tortured here and there, but they had seen war. They had seen countless people die and countless people hurt.
Hurt by her families hand, no less...
No, they weren't her family anymore.
Andy didn't speak after that, at least not yet. Her eyes fell on Aurora, who was always so elegant and brave. Andy felt like she was neither of those things right now. Aurora had always been so subtly strong in ways that Andy never really noticed until now. Until recently, Andy simply thought Aurora was a snobbish prat just like the rest of her family. This girl sitting before her now was a completely different person. A person whom Andy would like to get to know. A person who Andy would like to become someday.
She pulled her hands back into her lap, clasping them together there. Her eyes flickered away from her sister and back to Jayden.
