Fave Superhero: Ugh. I loved the Black Widow but the the stuff in Ultron that they did (aka the relationship they forced her into) made me a little bit hesitant. I still like the character but I feel like the writing isn't quite the way I imagine her to be? If that makes any sense? Idk I'm hoping it'll get better but yeah, she's great. I love strong female superheroes.
Fave Villain: I just finished watching Jessica Jones on Netflix and I love love love Kilgrave. He's chills down my spine creepy but also with a really magnetic personality. Not to mention I'm in love with David Tennant.
Fave Movie: Talk about a tossup. I loved both Captain America movies but I think the first Avengers movie takes the cake. I like the way they merged so many conflicting personalities in a realistic yet fun to watch way. I also really enjoy all of the Netflix series they're starting to put out mostly because I can binge watch them in a way movies can't be binge watched.
Fave Comic: I've never read the comics. >.>

Fav Superhero: This question is hard... Going to go with the original Azrael (Jean Paul Valley) followed quickly by The Crow (Not the derpy movie versions) and followed quickly by Ghost Rider (again.. comics not derpy movie version)
Fav Villan: Not quite as hard! I am a huge Dormammu fan!
Fav Movie: X-men: Days of Future Past (The Rogue Cut) because THEY NEVER MADE A THIRD X-MEN MOVIE. Eh. HEM.
Fav Comic: X-men (Chris Claremont years including the Excalibur series!!!) - The Crow (James O'Barr) - Azrael (The Orginal DC run - not the second version)
Also, now that this thread is here, I may or may not be posting links to news stories relevant to all of this.

@johanson I am really excited for the new Deadpool movie! Never saw the old one but I like Deadpool so I am excited to see how this new movie goes.
@jamie I agree with you. Age of Ultron really disappointed me from the whole Quicksilver thing, to the Hulk/Widow romance, and... I don't know, I feel like Whedon started focusing more on comedy for kids than he did a lot of the story and characters. That's why I am excited for the new Captain America movie, as it kind of looks like it will be taking a darker turn that both Avengers movies. And Hulk won't be in it so I am hoping for Widow to return to how she was. :]
@modbard I haven't seen the Rogue cut! Now I am obligated to go find it on the internets. Are you pumped for Apocalypse or what? I'm really excited for the younger actors to take over the roles of the likes of Jean, Scott, etc. Plus... bald McAvoy!

X-men origins: Wolverine is entirely forgettable. Some cool stuff here and there, but many annoying things that just should have been different.
Thankfully, this new Deadpool movie will take a few moments to make fun of it!
I am absolutely psyched for Apocalypse!!!! Always loved that villain! Definitely excited for a bald McAvoy/Xavier! Really looking forward to how they will portray Psylock though. From the behind-teh-scenes footage, we can tell vaguely what powerset she will have (projected katana and energy spike both), though it remains unknown if she will have any or all of the mental/illusion powers. It's perfectly fine if she does or doesn't, really. Psylock was subject to a lot of change in the comics. Lots of change.

@haymitch do you think that the Quicksilver thing is permanent? My friends and I were talking and we think that after they specifically showed the lady who printed Ultron's body at SHIELD headquarters that it's possible he's still alive. I mean, they've brought a character back from the dead before. Looking at you, Coulson. Somehow I think it's unlikely they'd bring in a character like Quicksilver for only one movie. But yeah, hopefully my beautiful Natasha gets back to normal. c:

@modbard I am most excited to see Oliva Munn portray Psylocke and Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. Also excited to see them bring back Nightcrawler! Man, I am more excited for this than Suicide Squad. @jamie I don't know... I feel like he is done for good. Mainly because of the whole X-Men franchise. Marvel/Disney and Sony had a big dispute over even letting him be in the Avengers. He appeared first in DoFP as Peter Maximoff. They made no mention of Wanda but kind of joked at Magneto being his dad. Eventually, the two companies came to the agreement that Quicksilver could be in AoU as Pietro with Wanda, but they could not mention Magneto or even breathe a word of mutants. So, I think Quicksilver is done as an Avenger. Though, he will continue to appear in X-Men portrayed by Evan Peters. Also, I'm just gonna leave this here:

Favorite Superhero: IRONMAN by far. Probably because Robert Downey Jr. is amazing at the role and really brings Iron Man to life. Peter Quill is a close second though Favorite Villain: LOKI. God I love him so much. Loki-sass in Thor: The Dark World was on point. But I think in the end it will come out to be Thanos - as long as Infinity War plays out as I'm expecting it to Favorite Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy, but Iron Man is a close second. I surprise myself because I refused to see it for the longest time, and ended up LOVING it. I think it has to do with Chris Pratt Favorite Comic: I dont read the comics

Irina Rose Krum Yay for another Iron Man fan! However I just couldn't get into Guardians of the Galaxy. :[ I fell asleep during the movie. But I did like Chris Pratt in it from what I did see, but I like him in everything. :] Also: I loved the part in Dark World with Loki's sass when Thor broke him out. The second movies for both Captain America and Thor won me over after the first ones, which I wasn't a fan of. For any X-Men fans awaiting the new Apocalypse trailer next week: lookie at dis. @modbard Whatchu tink? I personally think we are gonna see Storm and Magneto as Horsemen...

Ok. So this weekend was Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
I won't go full spoilers in this thread for a while, but I would like to address my own feelings.
In short: 6/10. I didn't love it, there were a lot of things that I didn't care for, and there were a lot of things that require a decent knowledge of very-specific comics to understand. I liked how it looked, but the substance/writing was pathetic and empty.
So... why do I say this? To keep it spoiler free, I'll try to keep it short. To understand where they are getting this version of Batman, one needs to have read Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns'. To understand this version of Lex Luthor, one needs to read comics from around the 'The Return of Superman' event. (This is not he stiff-politician with a mech suit Lex that most of the modern cartoons portray. This is the Long-haired "son" (actually an imperfect clone in the comics) of that Lex who was (in the comics) a bit nutty (as he is in this film). For the whole Doomsday thing... I'd recommend reading 'The Death of Superman' for just how amazing that character could have been.
Ok. From here on, the mildest of spoilers (nothing worth worrying about) and a fairly negative review. If you want to make your own un-influenced opinions, stop here and go watch the movie.
Now on to my review:
You have to watch Thomas and Martha Wayne die. AGAIN. I was fine with this at first, but then they only explain this Batman's brooding nature on 20 years of Gotham crime-fighting. They don't - however - show anything from those 20 years in any sort of flashback to actually show/explain a few things that are present within the film. No Show it/don't Tell it. It's all 'Tell' and (to me) that is pathetic and lazy. In fact, I would describe most of the writing to be entirely lazy. Important plot-points are hammered in throughout, sometimes smooth, most times not. The first hour and a half is super dry. The soundtrack can be more of a distraction instead of an immersion. I got bored more than once.
I will agree that the movie looks great! Visually, this film is incredible (though I was disappointed at some of the CGI work.. kinda shoddy at times for a film that cost half a billion to make.)! WonderWoman was awesome! Batman is decent (if you understand Frank Miller's graphic novel), and Superman is... well... his usual blank-slate self, so I guess he's fine. Doomsday sucked (read 'The Death of Superman' to understand why). Lex was... passable. The film is a pop-corn-muncher not unlike a metal bowl being kicked down a concrete stairwell. It's shiny, it's loud, it's fairly violent, but it accomplishes very little in the end. Even the Justice League "set up" looks ok, but is poorly written and feels SO FRIGGIN LAZY.
I found the one actual Batman V Superman fight to be disappointing. There are some incredible parts, but it's not long, is full of moments that either side could have avoided easily, and is stopped by THE DUMBEST THING - instead of Doomsday. Yes, Doomsday is THAT tacked on. Not even a spoiler.
It all felt like 5 films crammed into 2 and a half hours. A few great moments here and there, some stuff that is done well (as it should) but isn't made stellar or special in any way. There are roughly 10 jokes (3 of which are funny), and the rest is dark and gloomy. Nothing against dark and gloomy, but it doesn't always befit a comic-book movie. Most of the side-conflicts feel artificial and tacked on. It's a long trudge to get through it all.
That's my thoughts. I was disappointed by a lot in this movie. I still hate Zack Snyder.
There was more substance in the equally pop-corn-munchy-grit of Spawn (1997).
I'll wait a bit for my full-spoilery thoughts to be posted.

Can you wait until Sunday after I see it pretty please? I've basically heard that Wonder Woman is awesome and Ben Affleck is not as terrible as was expected. I love Wonder Woman so if she's good then I'm happy

BUMPING THIS BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY. Laughing at how Suicide Squad basically tanked and tagging @puck & co-admin lisa and anyone else who wants to jump in now that we have more movies and stuff under our belts. Updating my own opinions: Fav Superhero: Seriously hard. In the movie-verse, I love Iron Man and Bucky and Spidey. Don't make me choose. Fav Villain: Still love Mystique, but also Kilgrave from Jessica Jones and Vulture from Homecoming won me over too. Fav Movie: Spider-Man: Homecoming. No question about it. HOWEVER, this will most likely change once Black Panther comes out. Fav Comic: Anything Spider-Man tbh. And adding a new one... Most Anticipated Movie: Really a toss-up right now. I am excited for Thor: Ragnorak because I love Taika Waititi. Also excited for Infinity War because I've literally been waiting 10 years for it. But Black Panther honestly takes the cake. Will be the best superhero movie, callin' it now.
